2. FEATURES IMPORTANT TO READ BEFORE OPERATION ! 1. If the unit rings at power up, press the STOP switch. This situation is caused by a previous run stopped by the power switch instead of the STOP switch. Never use the power switch for stopping separations. Always press the STOP switch. 2. When you switch on the unit, remind that previous preset values are memorised. Preset volts, mA and minutes are saved and restored at power up. However, no voltage is supplied at power up; the unit is automatically on STOP mode. 3. If the timer mode was selected during the previous separation, this mode has been memorised and will be restored at power up. 4. If the GEL SAVER mode was selected during the previous separation, this mode has been memorised and will be restored at power up. 5. When you switch on the unit, press immediately CLEAR switch to cancel the elapsed time of the previous separation. 6. Elapsed time does not mean preset time. When you press CLEAR switch, you don’t cancel the preset time but just the time increment during the previous sparation.

7. When you press START switch for beginning the run, and if you missed to press CLEAR before, the unit will stay on STOP mode with an audible alarm. Press STOP switch to cease the noise, press CLEAR and START again. 8. Timer is ON and GEL SAVER is OFF : When the preset time will be elapsed, the unit will stop automatically with 5 bips and the word – End – is displayed on the upper display. Elapsed time is displayed. 9. Timer is ON and GEL SAVER is ON : When the pre-set time will be elapsed, the unit will supply only 1 Volt displayed on the upper display. Elapsed time is displayed on the lower display. Yellow led GEL SAVER will blink. 5 bips are heard every minute. 10. Remind that leds located on the left of the displays are just indication modes: from upper to lower led: • • • •

constant voltage mode (according settings and gel conditions) constant current mode (according settings and gel resistance) timer mode (On or OFF selection) gel saver mode (Selected or not, alighted during the run, blinking when GEL SAVER mode is working after the elapsed time preset on the timer.)

Power Supply Model PS305T Instruction Manual, 2012/01

11. Remind that leds located on the right of the displays are indicating the displayed parameter: from upper to lower led : • • •

Volts (voltage is always displayed on the upper display) mA (current value is displayed instead of minutes) Minutes (time is displayed instead of mA)

12. For changing settings by the help of the switches N° 8, the unit must be on SET mode (press SET/OUT N°1). One of the 3 x leds N°4, N°4b or N°14 must blink. Then select the parameter you wish set with the switches Volts/mA N°2 and Time N°13.

Power Supply Model PS305T Instruction Manual, 2012/01

SAFETY 13. If no chamber is connected, the unit cannot start and come back on STOP mode. If connecting lead(s) is defective, or a bad contact is existing in the electrophoresis tank, the unit cannot start and come back on STOP mode. An audible alarm rings and the message “FLT” (Fault) is displayed on the upper display. 14. A short circuit condition avoid to start a separation : the unit cannot start and comes back on STOP mode with an audible alarm and a message: “FLT” (fault) is displayed in the upper display. Check the leads and chambers and start again when fault has been detected.

WARNING ! The power supply is capable of delivering dangerously voltage and is to be operated by qualified technically trained personnel. Take care as the mode of operation is continuous. For connection between the power supply and the electrophoresis equipment, use only the safety output leads equipped by black and red recessed plugs supplied with the unit. The unit must be earthed. Use only the three pins line cords supplied with the unit for safe operation. Use electrophoresis equipment that can only be connected when the protection lid is closed. Never attempt to remise the outer casing or make any repair. Contact us or our distributor if the need for servicing should arise.
