Product Selection Guide

Broiler Chicks: Feed 22% Poultry Starter Crums to 4 weeks of age. Chicks will eat about 2.9 pounds of feed per bird during this period and should weigh nearly 2 pounds by the time they are 4 weeks old. Then feed 19% Poultry Grower Crums from 4 to 8 or 9 weeks of age. About 8 to 10 pounds of feed will be consumed per bird during this period and the birds may weigh about 5 to 7 pounds at the end of the period.

Layer Replacement Chicks: Feed 22% Poultry Starter Crums to 2 weeks of age. Only about 0.25 pounds per bird will be needed. You may continue to feed the starter after 2 weeks of age, but most birds should be fed the more economical 19% Poultry Grower Crums from 2 weeks to 8 weeks of age. After 8 weeks of age, continue to feed the 19% Poultry Grower Crums up until the pullets begin to lay, but after 8 weeks, a small amount of chick sized scratch grain may be fed. This scratch grain may be fed in a feeder or on the ground. Scratch grain should be of such a size to encourage rapid consumption and the amount fed should be limited to not more than 1 part for each 3 parts of 19% Poultry Grower Crums fed. At 20 to 22 weeks of age, leghorn breeds of pullets should begin to lay and a layer ration should be fed at that time. Estimated Feed Needs: Age Amount and kind of feed 0 - 2 weeks 0.25 lbs. 22% Poultry Starter Crums 2 - 8 weeks 4 lbs. 19% Poultry Grower Crums 8 to 14 weeks 5 lbs. 19% Poultry Grower Crums + scratch grain 14 to 20 weeks 6 lbs. 19% Poultry Grower Crums + scratch grain Layer Hens (Leghorn type): Feed 20% Layer Granules without scratch grains for at least 4 weeks after the onset of laying. Also, offer oyster shells and granite grit for free choice consumption at all times. After 4 weeks of laying, pullets may be fed limited amounts of scratch grains in addition to free choice Layer "20." Scratch Grain (cracked corn or wheat or millet) may be fed at a rate not to exceed one part scratch grain per 2.5 parts 20% Layer. Expect young laying pullets to eat about 20 LBS. of feed per 100 birds per day. Older leghorn hens typically consume about 24 LBS. of feed per 100 birds per day. Cold weather increases feed consumption. continued on next page... American Distribution & Manufacturing Company • Phone: 800 -467-2426 • Fax: 651- 451-0708

36% Poultry Supplement may be mixed with grain and fed in place of 20% Layer or 19% Poultry Grower. Follow mixing instructions on the label. Poultry Supplement 36 is not recommended as a supplement to grain for starting chicks. Ducks: Feed 18% Poultry Short Pellets to ducklings from 1 day to 6 weeks of age. After the age of 6 weeks, feed approximately equal portions of grain and the 18% Poultry Short Pellets. Pekin ducks consume about 8 to 10 pounds of feed up to the age of 8 weeks. Sand or grit should be available to ducks as well as water at all times. Geese: Feed 18% Poultry Short Pellets to at least 3 weeks of age. After 3 weeks of age amount of Pellets fed may be varied considerably, depending on growth rate and fattening objectives. If rapid growth of geese is desired , continue to feed mostly the Short Pellets along with only limited green forage up to 12 to 14 weeks of age for early marketing at this time. If plentiful sources of green forage are available and geese have limited time to consume the Pellets, growth may be at a more moderate rate. To encourage greater consumption of Pellets and a more rapid growth rate at about 14 to 16 weeks of age you may want to limit foraging time by penning the geese for longer portions of the day. During this last 2 to 4 week fattening period, the geese may be fed coarse grains in a ratio of about 3 parts grain to 1 part Pellets. Pheasants, Quail and Partridge: Full feed 27% Poultry Crums to young pheasants, partridge or quail from 1 day of age up to 6 to 7 weeks of age. After the starting phase is completed, a lower protein diet in coarser form may be fed. Be sure to make this transition gradually. Introduce 18% Poultry Short Pellets along with the 27% Poultry Crums. Continue to offer both feeds until the birds are consuming the Short Pellets well; then the 27% Poultry Crums may be discontinued. Birds being raised for meat should be fed a high level of the 18% Poultry Short Pellets until market time. Pheasants may be ready for market as early as 14 weeks (about 2.5 LBS.), while quail may finished at about 16 weeks (about 6-7 oz.). If birds are being raised for flight or release, they will need to be fed increasingly restricted amounts as they grow (after 6 to 7 weeks of age) in order to develop hardiness and achieve flight condition. 18% Poultry Short Pellets is designed for young ducks and geese from one day of age to market weight. 18% Poultry Short Pellets is pelleted to reduce feed waste by 15 - 20%. DUCKS: Feed to baby ducklings as a complete diet from day one up to about 6 weeks of age. Ducklings should weigh about 2.5 to 3.0 lbs. at 6 weeks and should have consumed about 14 lbs. of feed. After 6 weeks, grain and forage may be fed with this pelleted feed. Provide about 50% of the duck's total feed needs from this product and about 50% from scratch grains and forage. Ducks may be ready for market as early as 8 weeks of age. GEESE: Feed as a complete diet to goslings in confinement until at least 3 weeks of age. After 3 weeks, geese may forage and may be fed coarse grain in addition to this feed. Provide at least one part of this feed to three parts of scratch grains. Limiting forage consumption will generally allow geese to reach an early market weight at 12 - 14 weeks. Allowing geese to forage extensively may result in reaching market weight at about 15 to 18 weeks of age. PHEASANTS/QUAIL: Feed as a grower/finisher to older birds, 2 months or more of age. Full feed for meat birds. Limit feed as needed if conditioning for flight.

Eggshell is approximately 94 percent calcium carbonate. Laying hens need calcium supplements to meet their demand for eggshell production. One can use limestone (Shell & Bone Builder) or Oyster Shells as source for CaCO3. Laying hens use large particle sources of CaCO3 in their diet to deposit in the gizzard. When in the gizzard, these large particles are bathed in the stomach’s acid juices where calcium is slowly released and absorbed by the hen to meet demand for eggshell production. Oyster Shells are a 100% organic source of Calcium that is used in egg layer feed, and broiler layer & turkey breeder feed rations. Its main purpose is to build strong egg shells and develop strong bones in poultry. Description: High purity, feed grade Calcium Carbonate processed from Oyster Shell high in calcium and low in magnesium. Composition: Expressed as Calcium(Ca)….min-38.0%…..max-39.8% Calcium Carbonate(CaCO3).............no less than 96.0% Expressed as Calcium Oxide (CaO) ................... 54.32% PROD # 010-009-03

Shell & Bone Builder is derived from calcitic limestone from 325,000,000–360,000,000 years old aquatic shell animals (crinoids) fossilized into sedimentary limestone deposits of calcium carbonate. Shell & Bone Builder-Typical Analyses: Calcium (Ca)...............................................38% Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3) ......................95% Acid Solubility* ...................................... 12-14% Particle Size............................... 2500-3500 µm *Ideal solubility range is 12-15%. Low solubility indicates slow release of Ca++, desirable for eggshell production. PROD # 010-010-03 Revised February 2010
