PostDoc Oral Microbiology and Immunology We are seeking qualified applicants for research and teaching in the area of Medical & Oral Microbiology/Immunology, with special emphasis on (oral) microbial ecology and immunology, microbiomics/metagenomics, bioinformatics, pathogenicity and diagnostic. If the candidate is successful, the option for Habilitation (postdoctoral lecturing qualification, professorial thesis) will be offered and a career supported. At ISAS Dortmund we invite applications for a Post-doctoral position / Scientist (m/f) in mass spectrometry based Proteomics of the heart. Our expertise is in merging interesting biological questions with leading-edge analytical techniques, including mass spectrometry, that help decipher protein identities, quantities and modifications. Our projects range from basic discovery research to clinically relevant analytical studies. We apply our considerable mass spectrometry-based expertise to deciphering the precise role that protein expression profiles and modifications play in disease progression. In brief, we are interested in how distinct alterations to the proteome affect the disease progression of cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure. The successful candidate should be graduated in any area of life science, ideally with a background in analytical chemistry and should have strong experience in protein chemistry, mass spectrometry and quantification strategies. Applicants will expect to have demonstrated an excellent academic and publication record. The ability to work both independently and as a team member and excellent communication skills will be an advantage.

Am Fachgebiet Lebensmittelmikrobiologie und -hygiene des Instituts für Lebensmittelwissenschaft und Biotechnologie der Universität Hohenheim ist voraussichtlich ab 01.10.2017 die Stelle (60 %) einer/eines Wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeiterin/Mitarbeiters mit dem Ziel der Promotion zu besetzen. Wir suchen eine/n Absolventin/en mit Abschluss Diplom oder Master of Science in einem mikrobiologischen bzw. biotechnologischen Studiengang. Praktische Erfahrungen in der Laborarbeit mit Milchsäurebakterien und Kenntnisse in molekularbiologischen Techniken, inkl. DNA-Sequenzierung, sind wünschenswert. Im Rahmen der Doktorarbeit über „Reduktion der Bitterkeit von fermentierten Milchprodukten mit erhöhtem Calciumgehalt durch Selektion geeigneter Starterkulturen Einfluss milchendogener und exogener Peptidasen“ soll die Bitterkeit in fermentierten Milchprodukten reduziert oder gänzlich vermieden werden. Dazu sollen Peptidasen der Starterkulturen analysiert werden. Besonderes Augenmerk soll hierbei auf den Einfluss des Calciumgehalts gelegt werden, da in konzentrierten Milchprodukten ein erhöhter Gehalt von Calcium-Ionen vorliegt und solche fermentierten Produkte eine verstärkte Bitterkeit aufweisen. Weiterhin soll der Einfluss von pH-Wert und Temperatur auf die Expression der Peptidasegene und Oligopeptidtransportsysteme sowie die enzymatischen Aktivitäten der Starterkulturen bzw. die enzymatische Bildung von Bitterpeptiden in einem Modellsystem untersucht werden.
