1,635 exhibitors and 45,856 visitors from 46 countries/regions gathered under one roof. Since the launch of 1st IFEX 13 years ago, the number of exhibitors and visitors has been increasing year after year. Evidently there were big crowds within the exhibition halls and long queues at the visitor registration counters.

Truly international trade shows: Each show has become much more international also in terms of visitors. The number of international visitors sharply increased to 2,194 from 46 countries (including Japan). The number of visitors is 72.8 % up from previous show. (1,270 visitors in 2015)

Countries/Regions of Visitors (excerpt) China, Taiwan, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, United states, India, etc. Show Management placed a “Group Visit” counter for international visitors for the first time this year. “Group Visit” service is for those who are planning on visiting the show with a party more than 5 people. The group who registered as “Group Visit” is able to avoid standing in a long queue before entering the show halls. Also, a representative of the group can receive all badges of the members at the show. Over 20 groups registered to the service from 10 countries.

Opening Ceremony

Before the exhibition doors were opened on the first day, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the opening of the show. 44 ribbon cutting dignitaries participated in the event as including ambassadors and executives from major home centres, supermarkets, flower shops, garden centres, and international assosiations, etc. This year, a larger number of presidents, chairmen and CEOs from major firms were involved, for instance: Executive Officer of Ito-Yokado Co., Ltd., Director, Executive Vice President of Aeon Retail Co., Ltd., Vice Chairman of the Board of Director of Consumers Co-operative MIRAI, Executive General Manager of Cainz Corporation, Senior Managing Director of Joyful Honda Co., Ltd., Corporate Officer, General Manager of Arcland Sakamoto Co., Ltd., etc. (All major supermarkets and home centres in Japan) The ceremony marked the beginning of a successful event and illustrated the dedication of industry experts towards the show.

The 13th edition of INTERNATIONAL FLOWER EXPO TOKYO (IFEX) has concluded successfully. The show welcomed 558 exhibitors this year with flowers and related products who would like to expand their business in Japanese/AsianPacific flower market.

The show was split into 6 main areas: “Flower & Plant Grower’s Fair”, “Export from Japan Zone”, “Table Exhibit Corner”, “Breeders Fair”, “Floristry Items Fair” and “Flower x Lifestyle Collection”. This year, at “Export from Japan Zone”, lots of Japanese Bonsai and Ueki were displayed. Bonsai is a Japanese traditional art form using trees grown in containers, and have been receiving greater attention from all over the world these days. Industry giant exhibitors, such as Omiya Bonsai, Chiba Prefecture, and Kurume Garden Plant Exporters’ Association exhibited and active business discussions took place everywhere.

Special events held inside IFEX 2016 IFEX Flower Awards

IFEX Flower Awards is a content to select “The Future Best Sells” varieties. Judges are renowned flower designers and presidents of Japan’s leading flower shops and flower auctions. This year, 119 varieties were nominated and 11 winners were chosen among three categories: Cut Flowers, Potted Flowers and Overseas Growers. Award winning varieties will be widely promoted in Japan's leading flower shops and flower arrangement schools.

Preserved & Artificial Flower Arrangement Contest 250 preserved & artificial flower arrangements were on display under the theme of “Flowers carrying happiness”. 9 special award winners were announced. Grand Prize arrangement in 2016 Award winner: Natsuko Morimoto (Ms.)

Flower Arrangement Show 14 famous flower designers made flower arrangement performance during the show. They made wonderful arrangement performance and attracted around 3,000 visitors.

INTERNATIONAL GARDEN EXPO TOKYO (GARDEX) is the Japan’s largest exhibition for garden Industry. There are many garden and outdoor living tools displayed from not only Japan but all over the world. The show welcomed 94 overseas exhibitors out of 225 exhibitors this year.

Due to the increasing participation of overseas exhibitors, GARDEX has surely been the international B-to-B trade show and activating international business in the Japanese garden industry.

LIFESTYLE & GARDEN COLLECTION "Lifestyle & Garden Collection” is a special exhibit area in GARDEX. Now, more and more garden and home centres in Japan have started to deal with garden related gift items in their shops to differentiate from other competitors and to meet their customers demand. GARDEX provide those who are looking for new sales channels with the opportunities to meet with the garden and home centres. Exhibit at "Lifestyle & Garden Collection" is a key to expand business in Japan.

AGRI WORLD consists of 3 specialised exhibitions - AGRITECH JAPAN (The 6th edition of International Agricultural Material & Technology Expo Tokyo), AGRI NEXT (3rd Next Generation Agriculture Expo Tokyo), and 1st Farmers’ Processing & Sales Support Expo Tokyo. AGRI WORLD is Japan’s largest B-to-B trade show for agricultural materials and technologies. This year attracted 646 exhibitors, and many professionals from all over Japan, Asia and the world gathered to find new business and build connections in the Japanese market. AGRITECH JAPAN is Japan's leading industry trade show for agricultural materials and technologies. Exhibitors who deal in agricultural machineries, fertilisers, substrates, agrichemicals, horticultural suppliers, and many more gather all at once. AGRI NEXT is an exhibition which gathers all next generation agricultural technologies such as plant factories, IT solutions, drones, photovoltaic generation systems, and so on. As the competition in agricultural industry is getting fierce, many agricultural industry professionals are actively looking for more efficient, low-cost and innovative solutions. FARMERS’ PROCESSING & SALES SUPPORT EXPO TOKYO was newly launched this year. Fresh produce processing & sales support services for farmers are displayed at the show. Lots of visitors came to see the processing machineries, fresh management technologies, packing materials, and other related products/technologies.

A special zone for farmer’s assistance. There are many new technologies/products to reduce farmer’s burden and support their work.

Drones are now coming under spotlight for farmers use. There were lots of drones displayed this year. Many exhibitors made demonstrations and got attentions of visitors.

6th edition of International Hardware and Tools Expo Tokyo (TOOL JAPAN) has concluded successfully. Since its launch in 2010, TOOL JAPAN has led Japanese tool industry and served as the best platform to conduct business with tool suppliers. This year, the show has welcomed 206 exhibitors (2015: 195 exhibitors) from Japan and all over the world. As you see the picture below, all aisles were crowded with qualified buyers and many business discussions were taking place everywhere.

There were 8 exhibiting areas: Work Tool Fair, Work Wear Zone, Worker’s Gear Zone, Safety Equipment Zone, Garden & Landscaping Tool Zone, Construction Supply Zone, Snow Blower & Snow Removal Equipment Zone, and Agricultural & Forestry Tools Zone. The variety of tools exhibited has become wider as the increase of overseas exhibitors. As well as Taiwan and China who had international pavilions, USA, Italy, India, Thailand, Hong Kong, UK and Korea were participating this year and the percentage of overseas exhibitors summed up to around 34 % of the total. This trend in the rise in overseas participants is expected to grow further for years to come.

Next Show Save Your Dates for October 11-13, 2017! IFEX/GARDEX/AGRI WORLD/TOOL JAPAN will return at a greater scale next year from October 11-13, 2017 at Makuhari Messe, Japan. With each show further succeeding in establishing itself as the world’s leading trade show of its kind, IFEX/GARDEX/AGRI WORLD/TOOL JAPAN will undoubtedly continue to be one of the most important trade shows in the Japanese/Asian-Pacific market.

2017 Show to Expand by 30%! Most exhibitors in the 2017 show rebooked their spaces on site during the 2016 show with expanded booth sizes. Therefore, Show Management strongly recommends that those who are interested in participating at IFEX/GARDEX/AGRI WORLD/TOOL JAPAN 2017 make applications immediately before reaching its full capacity.
