Overview This document describes the procedures and precautions for Windows operating system and the drivers installation on the ST-M30. Set up for Windows XP (or WEPOS 1.1, POSReady 2009)

2.1. Operating System Installation 2.1.1. Windows XP installation To Install Windows XP operating system into ST-M30, AHCI driver is required to support AHCI and RAID functionality. Without this driver, it might cause blue screen (BSOD) during operating system installation. The following are the steps to install AHCI driver: 1. Create a floppy disk contains the following files in the root directory: iaAhci.inf, iaAhci.cat, iaStor.inf, iaStor.cat, iaStor.sys, and TxtSetup.oem. User can find the above files in the “ST-M30WinVxxx\32bit\5_RAID\1_DOSFloppy” folder in the Driver kit. *xxx means version number of driver kit. 2. If IDE or RAID functionality is required by POS Terminal, user needs to configure BIOS menu item as below: Path: [Advanced] –> [SATA Configuration] Setting: SATA Mode IDE Mode or RAID Mode Aptio Setup Utility - Copyright (C) 2011 Am erican Megatrends, Inc. For the produces to setup the RAID function, please refer to “4.2 Setup for RAID HDD” section. However, BIOS does not have to be set any option if the POS Terminal uses AHCI mode.

3. Once the operating system installation start, press F6 to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver. If the terminal uses IDE mode, follow the instructions of the Windows installer to complete the installation.

4. Wait until the following dialog prompt, select 'S' to specify Additional Device.

5. Next is to configure which driver option to be installed. AHCI : “Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller” RAID : “Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller” Subsequently, follow the instructions of the Windows installer to complete the installation. 6. If AHCI or RAID functionality is required by POS Terminal, please select the “Install Mass Storage Device Drivers from Floppy Disk.” check box when the “Install Mass Storage Device Drivers” window appears.

7. Then, it is required to select “Additional Driver Support” check box under “Optional Software Component Setting” wizard. If “Additional Driver Support” component is not selected on “Optional Software Component Setting” wizard, the “Unknown device” will be shown under processor in device manager after installation. Please refer to below instruction to install “Additional Driver Support” component in ” Optional Software Component Setting” wizard. Please select “Additional Driver Support” check box under “Optional Software Component Setting” wizard.

Please select other options if necessary, and click on the “Next” button. (It is recommended to select all components for more OS functionalities.) Subsequently, follow the instructions of the Windows installer to complete the installation. Note: Unselected components can no longer be added after the WEPOS installation is complete.

Steps for Update Service Pack after OS installation: It has to update service pack 3 for WEPOS. It might be occurred unexpected error if the service pack was not installed before any driver installation. Note: Please install .NET Framework 3.0 before update the Service Pack 3. 1. First, please download the service pack 3 using following URL: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=3740 2. Next, run the installer, and following window appears. Please click on the “Next” button to start installation.

3. Next, the License Agreement window appears. Select the “I Agree” radio button and click on the “Next” button to continue installation.

4. The “Select Options” window appears. Please click on the “Next” button to start installation.

5. The installer will prompt for system reboot when the installation is complete. Please click on the “Finish” button to reboot POS Terminal.

2.1.3. POSReady 2009 Installation To Install Windows XP operating system into ST-M30, AHCI driver is required to support AHCI and RAID functionality. 6. If AHCI or RAID functionality is required by POS Terminal, please select the “Install Mass Storage Device Drivers from Floppy Disk.” check box when the “Install Mass Storage Device Drivers” window appears.

7. Next, it is necessary to select “Custom” option under “Installation Type” wizard in order to select ”Additional Drivers” check box under “Optional Components” wizard. Please take note that during driver installation (Chipset, Audio, OPOS driver, etc), the screen prompts which requests for ‘*.sys’ file or “*.dll” file will be displayed if: · “Typical” or “Minimum” option is selected under “Installation Type” wizard · “Additional Drivers” component is not select under “Optional Components” wizard. Please refer below for “Additional Drivers” component installation under ”Optional Components” wizard. Select “Custom” in “Installation Type” wizard and click on the “Next” button.

8. Select “Additional Drivers” in “Optional Components” wizard.

Select other options if necessary, and click on the “Next” button. (It is recommended to select all components for more OS functionalities.) Subsequently, follow the instructions of the Windows installer to complete the installation. 17

Steps for “Additional Drivers” Component after OS installation: When “Additional Drivers” component is not selected during POSReady2009 installation, user needs to manually install the component as follow. 1. Open “Add or Remove Programs” from “Control Panel”. Then, click on the “Add/Remove Windows Components” button.

2. Select “Additional Drivers” from “Components:” check box. Click on the “Next” button.

3. During installation for the component, you need “Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 Installation CD”. Insert “POSReady installation CD”, and click on the “OK” button.

4. It is recommended to reboot the system after installation.

2.2. Intel Chipset Driver Installation Run “infinst_autol.exe” in the “ST-M30WinV1xxx\32bit\1_Chipset” folder in the Driver kit. *xxx means version number of driver kit. NOTE) If the terminal is installed with WEPOS 1.1, it has to be updated to service pack 3. Please refer to “Steps for Update Service Pack after OS installation” section. 1. Setup files will be extracted. Then, click on the “Next” button when the following window appears.

2. The “License Agreement” window appears. Confirm the contents. Click on the “Yes” button to agree.

3. The “Readme File Information” window appears. Click on the “Next” button to start the installation.

4. The “Next” button will be enabled when installation is complete. Please click on the “Next” button to proceed.

5. Next, the installer will prompt for system reboot. Select “Yes, I want to restart this computer now” option, and then click on the “Finish” button to reboot POS Terminal.

Note: Chipset driver Installation for POSReady 2009 For POSReady 2009, the installation process will request for several “*.sys” file or “*.dll” file. When the following window appears, please configure the path to the location of “*.sys” file or “*.dll” file respectively. · ·

“*.sys” file is requested -> Set the path to ”c:\windows\system32\drivers” “*.dll” file is requested -> Set the path to ”c:\windows\system32”

A) The following window is to request “*.sys” file.

B) The following window is to request “*.dll” file.

Note: If ”Additional Drivers” of “Optional Components” has been installed during POSReady 2009 OS installation, these screens will not prompt.

2.3. Intel Graphic Accelerator Driver Installation NOTE: Microsoft .Net 3.0 Framework and above are required for graphic driver installation. Run the “winxp.exe” in the “ST-M30WinV1xxx\32bit\2_Graphic\1_WinXP” folder in the Driver kit. *xxx means version number of driver kit. 1. Please click on the “Next” button to continue.

2. The “Warning” window will appear when the correct .NET Framework has not been installed. Please take note that if user chooses to continue graphic driver installation without .Net 3.0 Framework pre-installed into OS, the application might not work correctly. It is recommended user to confirm .Net 3.0 Framework is installed before proceeding.

3. The following window appears when extraction is complete. Click on the “Next” button.

4. The “License Agreement” window appears. Confirm the contents. Click on the “Yes” button to agree.

5. The “Readme File Information” window appears. Click on the “Next” button to start the installation.

6. The “Next” button will be enabled when installation is complete. Please click on the “Next” button to proceed.

7. Next, the installer will prompt for system reboot. Select “Yes, I want to restart this computer now” option, and then click on the “Finish” button to reboot POS Terminal.

8. After rebooting the POS Terminal, user can use Device Manager to confirm the graphic driver has been installed. Make sure that “Intel(R) HD Graphics Family” is registered under the “Display adapters” category.

2.4. Network Driver Installation 2.4.1. Intel Network Driver installation Unzip the “PROWin32.zip” file in the “ST-M30WinV1xxx\32bit\3_LAN\1_Intel\1_WinXP” folder in the Driver kit. *xxx means version number of driver kit. 1. The confirmation window appears when the “SeupBD.exe” starts running. Click on the “OK” button to start installation. The file is in the “PROCWin32\APPS\SETUP\SETUPBD\Win32” folder.

2. Next, following window will appears when the installation is complete. Click on the “Close” button to close window.

3. User can use Device Manager to confirm the network driver has been installed. Make sure that “Intel(R) 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection” is registered under the “Network adapters” category.

2.4.2. Realtek Network Driver installation Run the “setup.exe” application located in “ST-M30WinV1xxx\32bit\3_LAN\2_Realtek\1_WinXP” folder of the Driver kit. *xxx means version number of driver kit. 1. The setup window appears when the “setup.exe” starts running. Please click on the “Next” button.

2. Please click on the “Install” button to start the installation.

3. Next, following window will appears when the installation is complete. Click on the “Finish” button to close window.

4. User can use Device Manager to confirm the network driver has been installed. Make sure that “Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller” is registered under the “Network adapters” category.

2.5. Realtek Audio Driver Installation Run the “WDM.exe” in the “ST-M30WinV1xxx\32bit\4_Audio\1_WinXP” folder in the Driver kit. *xxx means version number of driver kit. 1. Please click on the “Next” button to start the installation.

2. Next, the installer will prompt for system reboot when the installation is complete. Select “Yes, I want to restart my computer now” option, and then click on the “Finish” button to reboot POS Terminal.

3. User can use Device Manager to confirm the audio driver has been installed. Make sure that “Realtek High Definition Audio” is registered under the “Sound, video and game controllers” category.

Note: Audio driver Installation for POSReady 2009 For POSReady 2009, the installation process will request for several “*.sys” file or “*.dll” file. When the following window appears, please configure the path to the location of “*.sys” file or “*.dll” file respectively. · ·

Setup for Windows 7 Professional (or POS Ready 7)

3.1. Operating System Installation The following are the steps to install AHCI driver: 1. Save following files to same folder in a storage device (Ex: thumb drive, CD-ROM or Floppy disk etc…). iaAhci.inf, iaAhci.cat, iaStor.inf, iaStor.cat, iaStor.sys, and TxtSetup.oem. User can find the above files in the “ST-M30WinVxxx\32bit\5_RAID\1_DOSFloppy” folder in the Driver kit for 32bit OS. User can find the files in the “ST-M30WinV1xxx\64bit\5_RAID\1_DOSFloppy” folder in the Driver kit for 64bit OS. *xxx means version number of driver kit. 2. If IDE or RAID functionality is required by POS Terminal, user needs to configure BIOS menu item as below: Path: [Advanced] –> [SATA Configuration] Setting: SATA Mode IDE Mode or RAID Mode Aptio Setup Utility - Copyright (C) 2011 Am erican Megatrends, Inc. 3. Next, please select “Load Driver” option under “HDD Selection” wizard in order to install the AHCI driver or RAID driver. If the terminal uses IDE mode, follow the Windows installer to complete the installation.

4. The “Load Driver” window appears. Push the “Browse” button to specify the directory for SATA driver or RAID driver. Then, the Windows installer will select correct driver for SATA configuration.

5.2. Limitation 5.2.1. Limitation for Wake up by USB keyboard / mouse from S3 By default, OS can go to S3 (standby) mode and can wake up by using USB keyboard and mouse. However, there is some restriction for wake-up by USB keyboard and mouse from S3 in Windows Xp, WEPOS, and POSReady2009. In order to enable wake-up by USB keyboard and mouse from S3, additional registry key setting is required. Extended display mode in POSReady 2009 For POSReady2009 with Intel Graphic Driver is installed, BSOD (blue screen error) will happen if user want to change from "Extended Desktop" mode to other mode for example "Single Display", "Twin" or "Dual Display Clone" mode, This is due to the restriction of POSReady2009, please refer to the following web page for more details. (Microsoft HP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/959252) To prevent this problem, user needs to download and install the patch from above Microsoft link.  Download the patch file ” WindowsXP-KB959252-v2-x86-ENU.exe” for Windows XP, x86 edition, and install to the machine. After installing the patch, the Extended display mode can be displayed and changed to other mode correctly.

5.2.3. Limitation of Windows Time Service In normal Windows system, Windows Time Service adjusts system time automatically via network with NTP protocol. Normally, this service functions correctly in the environment that has Internet access. In an environment without Internet access, Windows Time Service will not be able to set the time correctly. Hence, it is recommended to stop and disable this service when using ST-M30 in the environment without Internet access. This service can be stopped by the following steps: 1. Open “Date and Time” from “Control Panel”. Under the “Internet Time” tab, click on the “Change settings…” button.

2. Uncheck the “Synchronize with an Internet time server” check box.
