Portfolio Review File Submission Guideline: General Continuance Portfolios Due: » In the Fall: November 1 » In the Spring: April 1 The work should demonstrate the understanding and skillful implementation of the visual concepts below. Appropriated work has to be transformed to express the student’s “voice”. » Balance, Color, Content, Dominance » Economy, Emphasis, Expression, Harmony » Line, Proportion, Shape, Space » Texture, Unity, Variety, Value Format: » Portfolio must be submitted in digital format (see the following pages for detailed instruction). » Slide 1: Must contain your full name and semester / year » Slide 2: Include an inventory of your portfolio pieces as listed below. Give a proper title or name to each piece.

Portfolio Review File Submission Guideline: Preparation Photo image preparation: » Create a folder on your desktop with your name and BFA submission. » Copy images from your camera or hard drive into this folder. » Open folder in Adobe Bridge and pick the best images. » Double click on your best images. They should open in Photoshop. » In Photoshop, go to top menu bar: Image / Image size. » In the image size dialog box, first, make sure resample image, constrain proportion and scale size at the bottom of dialog box are checked. » Next, under document size, change the resolution to 72 pixels per inch » Under pixel dimensions, make the longest side (horizontal or vertical) of your image 800 pixels. » Go to top menu bar: image / image size. And save as a “Jpeg”, “quality: 10”. » Your images are now ready to upload to your google doc. Adobe Illustrator (.ai) file preparation: » Open file in Adobe Illustrator. » Go to top menu bar: File / Export » Select “Jpeg” on the “format” menu. » Adjust options as “Quality: 10”, “Resolution Depth: 72 dpi” and leave the rest as they are. » Your images are now ready to upload to your google doc. Adobe InDesign (.indd) file preparation: » Open file in Adobe InDesign. » Go to top menu bar: File / Export » Select “Jpeg” on the “format” menu. » Adjust the options as: All, Spreads, Quality Maximum, baseline, 72ppi, RGB » Your images are now ready to upload to your google doc.

Portfolio Review File Submission Guideline: Submission step 1 go to http://docs.google.com Sign in with your pre-existing account or create a new one and sign in.

Portfolio Review File Submission Guideline: Submission step 2 Click “Create New” and choose “Presentation”. Select Simple Light Theme.

Enter your full name in the “Click to add title” field. Add semester / year under subtitle. Click “Slide” and choose “New Slide”. Select the “Text” layout and add inventory of studio work.

Portfolio Review File Submission Guideline: Submission step 3-1 The following slides will include your images. Click “Slide” and choose “New slide”.

Select “Caption” style layout.

Portfolio Review File Submission Guideline: Submission step 3-2 Click the picture icon on the top menu.

Choose a image file and hit “OK” button.

Portfolio Review File Submission Guideline: Submission step 3-3 While holding down the shift key, click and drag the four corners of the image to adjust size and position. If you don’t hold the shift key, your image will not maintain its proper proportion. Use maximum available space, but do not hide the caption.

Click on “add caption”, add course and/or category, title or name of project, brief description of work, media, dimensions, and objectives represented by the piece.

Portfolio Review File Submission Guideline: Submission step 3-4 Click “Slide” and choose “New slide”. Repeat Step 3-1 to 3-4 until all of your required presentation materials are uploaded.

Portfolio Review File Submission Guideline: Submission step 4-1 Click “File” menu and choose “Rename”. Name your file as “Your Full Name” (ie: John W. Brown).

Portfolio Review File Submission Guideline: Submission step 4-2 Click the “Share” button on the top right hand side menu. Use your full name for file name.

Add “[email protected]” on the Invite People field. Set it as “Can view” mode. Then click “Share” button.

Portfolio Review File Submission Guideline: notice Your presentation is ready for the review. You will receive an email receipt after the submission deadline. Contact the Art Department CDA with follow up questions. You are free to come back to your account and make changes before the submission deadline. But, once the submission deadline has passed, you are not allowed to make any changes on your presentation file.
