Porsche Design

Porsche Design is a luxury brand with a particular focus on technically inspired products. It offers classic men’s accessories that stand for functional, timeless and purist design. The product portfolio includes watches, sunglasses, luggage, a sport and fashion collection as well as electronic products and a men’s fragrance line. All the brand’s products are designed in the Porsche Design Studio in Zell am See, Austria. Porsche Design products are sold worldwide in own retail and franchise stores, shop-in-shops, up-market department stores and exclusive specialist stores. In addition to Porsche Design, the activities of the Porsche Design Group [ Porsche Lizenz- und Handelsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG ] are concentrated on the areas of Porsche Design Driver’s Selection and the Porsche Design-Studio in Zell am See in Austria.

“If one considers the function of a thing, the form sometimes arrives on its own.” Ferdinand Alexander Porsche Porsche Design Studio was founded in Stuttgart in 1972 by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche and relocated two years later to Zell am See in Austria. Since its foundation, the products designed there have won more than 120 national and international design prizes and awards. In fall 2003, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche and the other partners of Porsche Design collaborated with Porsche AG in founding a new company, the Porsche Design Group [ Porsche Lizenz- und Handelsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG ], the majority of which is owned by Porsche AG.

Chronograph I [ 1972 ] The Chronograph I is the first product ever designed by Porsche Design Studio and can be called a milestone in watch design. The Chronograph I was the first black wristwatch worldwide and its design has influenced generations of watches all the way up to the present day.

Exclusive Sunglasses [ 1978 ] In 1978, Porsche Design presented the Exclusive Sunglasses, one of the most successful sunglasses in the world. The sunglasses with interchangeable lenses are distinctive and have become synonymous with the “Porsche Design” style.

Pipe [ 1983 ] The Porsche Design Pipe applied the cooling rib theory which is also used in motorcycle engines in respect of the pipe bowl. The cooling fin system developed by the Porsche Design Studio ensures cool smoke and increases smoking enjoyment.

ß2000 Roadster | Roadster Titan The business luggage range “Roadster” will win you over with its timeless and purist design and high functionality. The luggage range consists of more than 40 different models, from trolley cases through travel bags to briefcases and messenger bags. The exclusively German-made trolley cases use matt finish aluminium handles. The material they are made of is used in aircraft construction. The light and quiet-rolling wheels on these trolley cases offer unlimited travel comfort. The whole range is made from tearresistant nylon with a water and stain resistant coating. The sporty re-interpretation “Roadster Titan” combines high functionality with fine titanium optics.

The writing tool series appeals by its functional design, distinctive workmanship and unusual choice of materials. Thus the design of the TecFlex Ballpoint Pen P´3110 reflects its function: its ‘outer skin’ is formed by an oil pressure tube made of the material TecFlex – an explicit technical inspiration. What’s more, it doesn’t corrode, thus guaranteeing lasting service, and it imparts an unusual tactile quality. The ball pen mechanism makes use of the material’s flexibility when protracting and retracting the cartridge.

ß3200 The core product of the men‘s fragrance range is an eau de toilette which is available in three different sizes. An aftershave lotion, aftershave balm, a hair and body shampoo and two deodorants in stick and spray form complete the range. The fragrance is characterised by its striking cold metallic accords and warm woody tones. The fragrance bottle has been designed by Porsche Design Studio and captivates with its purist architecture. The Essence Intense is a reinterpretation of the first fragrance, intensified by the richness of woody-amber harmonies. With its combination of freshness and aromatic, woody facets it is a perfume of contrasts.

The Smoking Collection from Porsche Design will appeal to connoisseurs and collectors. The pipe bodies are made of briar wood, because the use of this fine, rare wood plays an important role in determining the flavor experience of pipe smoking. The design principle of the cooling fins does the same thing for the pipe with regard to heat requirements. The line is completed with functional lighters, calfskin pouches or elegant humidors with a unique surface design and protective function.

The textiles, for example the V-Neck Light Knit or the Fabricmix Jacket are characterised by breathable materials and form-fitting cuts. ß6000 Indicator The Indicator P´6910 is the first chronograph with a mechanical-digital stopwatch function display. The total stoppage time is 9:59 hours. This is made possible by the most complex commercial wristwatch movement in the world. Altogether the watch consists of a total of approximately 800 parts. The Indicator is now available in three design variants. In 2008, the P´6910 was presented in rose gold with PVD coated titanium. The movement Around 800 separate parts. Every one of them produced with the utmost precision. Visible through the sapphire crystal opening in the titanium frame. More than a dozen experienced engineers, technicians and watchmakers were involved in the development of this mechanism which is unique throughout the world.

ß6000 Rattrapante Limited Edition The P´6920 Rattrapante Chronograph can precisely measure and display intermediate times as often as required. The sapphire crystal on the case back allows the user to admire the Porsche Design rotor system and self-winding Valjoux 7750 movement. The Rattrapante is limited to 200 timepieces in PVD-coated titanium [ P hysical Vapour Deposition ] and 50 timepieces combined with classically elegant rose gold.

ß6000 Worldtimer The Worldtimer P´6750 displays the time in two different time zones simultaneously and is an ideal companion for cosmopolitans. An additional crown with an integrated button makes the world time settings easy to change – for the first time ever without loss of time. The watch producer Eterna – licensee partner of Porsche Design since 1998 – has designed and built a special movement module based on the ETA Valgranges calibre A 07 111 for the Porsche Design Worldtimer P´6750. This functional timepiece has a world timer mechanism which is so far unique: when changing time zones, the reference time on the central indicator is transferred at the touch of a button and without losing time.

ß6000 Dashboard The design of the Dashboard range of watches is inspired by the dashboard of a Porsche sports car, guaranteeing the best possible time and date legibility. All automatic chronographs in the Dashboard range are fitted with a special Porsche Design rotor, adapted from a Porsche sports car wheel. The collection and its three lines, PAC [ Porsche Design Aluminum Chronograph ], PTC [ Porsche Design Titanium Chronograph ] and PGC [ Porsche Design Gold Chronograph ] was overhauled in 2008 and now comes with coloured dials designs in Makara, Copper, and Night Blue or special material embellishments.

The Porsche Design mobile phones combine purist design with innovative communications technology and high-quality natural materials such as aluminum and mineral glass. After its successful launch, the first Mobile Phone, the P´9521, has already won several prices. Besides the black variant, the P´9521 is also available in white and brown. The new mobile phone is also distinguished by the unique production method, in which the mobile phone is milled out of a solid aluminum block. The touchscreen display makes navigating through the menus smooth, easy and intuitive, access to personal data is secured by means of a sensor which identifies the user’s finger print. The built-in GPS receiver can be used for mobile navigation purposes.
