Pointsec Mobile Pocket PC protects your organization’s information by implementing real-time encryption of and access control to information stored on Pocket PC devices running on Windows Mobile 5 or Windows Mobile 6 Classic or Professional.

Pointsec Mobile Environment Requirements To maximize the level of security, ensure that the following environment requirements are met: •

You have received an authentic copy of Pointsec Mobile.



You have a secure network share on which to store Pointsec Mobile profiles while you are working with them.



There is a reliable time source on the local workstation that is synchronized with a time server.



You have access to a user verification database to determine the authenticity of a user over the phone.



You have access to a test environment for the initial installation and creation of profiles/configurations.



Pointsec for PC is installed on the workstation used to create installation sets and profile updates. Note - We recommend that you always perform a backup of any computer on which you want to install Pointsec Mobile.

System and Hardware Requirements

System and Hardware Requirements Before you can install Pointsec Mobile, you must have Pointsec Administration Console installed on your administrator’s workstation. For more information, see the Pointsec Administration Console Installation Guide and the Pointsec Administration Console Administrator’s Guide. See the Pointsec Mobile Pocket PC Release Notes for information on the disk space, memory space, operating systems and software required. For a current list of supported Pocket PC devices, visit www.checkpoint.com/supportedhandhelds/

Dynamic Tokens With your delivery of Pointsec Mobile, you may have received a number of dynamic tokens, sometimes needed by administrators to access the Pointsec Administration Console. With the tokens, you will have received the following files containing the information necessary to use the tokens: Table 1-1

This chapter explains what is required to install Pointsec Mobile Pocket PC and how to install it.

Before Installing Before you install Pointsec Mobile: •

Pointsec Administration Console must be installed on the workstation on which you want to install Pointsec Mobile.



To access Pointsec Mobile settings in Pointsec Administration Console after the installation, you must use an account with sufficient rights. See the Pointsec Administration Console Administrator’s Guide for more information.

Installing Pointsec Mobile You install Pointsec Mobile by running the installation wizard.

To install Pointsec Mobile: 1. Insert the Pointsec Mobile Pocket PC CD into your CD disk drive. The following dialog box opens:

2. Click Install. 3. Select the language in which you want the product to be installed.

The wizard prepares the installation and the Welcome dialog box opens in the language you selected:

4. Click Next. The License Agreement dialog box opens:

5. Read the license agreement, select “I accept...” and click Next to continue.

6. Click Install. The installation begins. When it is finished, the following dialog box opens:

7. Click Finish. Pointsec Mobile Pocket PC is now installed on the workstation and you can access it from Pointsec Administration Console.

Installing a Language Package

Installing a Language Package After you install Pointsec Mobile, you must install the appropriate language package if you want to deploy the product in a language other than English. Language packages have the following naming convention:

Pointsec_Mobile_Pocket_PC_language_.exe Note that ‘yy’ is replaced with the abbreviated name of a language. For example, English is ‘en’ and Japanese is ‘ja’. The language package is a zipped file that you unzip and run according to the standard instructions in the installation wizard. Note - Pointsec Administration Console and Pointsec Mobile must be

installed on the workstation before you install a language package.

To install a language package: 1. Unzip the language package zip file on the same workstation where you installed Pointsec Administration Console and Pointsec Mobile. 2. Double-click Pointsec_Mobile_Pocket_PC_language_.exe to start the installation wizard. 3. Follow the instructions provided by the installation wizard.

Accessing Pointsec Mobile Settings After you have installed Pointsec Mobile, you are ready to log into Pointsec Administration Console and review Pointsec Mobile settings. There are several ways to start Pointsec Administration Console, depending on the authentication method selected for your account. In this document, only token authentication is described. For other authentication methods, please see the Pointsec Administration Console Administrator’s Guide. Note - The account you use to access Pointsec Administration Console

must have super administrator rights. See the Pointsec Administration Console Administrator’s Guide for more information.

Accessing Pointsec Mobile Settings

To access Pointsec Mobile: 1. Click Start, navigate to the Pointsec program group and select Pointsec Administration Console. The following dialog box opens:

2. Enter the name of your account and click OK. The following dialog box opens:

3. Select a token and click OK. The following dialog box opens:

Pointsec Administration Console generates a dynamic challenge that you must respond to using the dynamic token you selected. 4. Enter the challenge into the token and generate a response. 5. Enter the response in the Response field and click OK.

Upgrading Pointsec Mobile To upgrade Pointsec Mobile from a previous version, follow the installation instructions. See “Installing Pointsec Mobile” on page 6. Note - Versions previous to Pointsec for Pocket PC (Windows Mobile 5)

3.0 cannot be upgraded to Pointsec Mobile Pocket PC (Windows Mobile 5) 3.0 - 3.3.4 or Pointsec Mobile Pocket PC 3.4 or later.

Repairing and Removing Pointsec Mobile You can repair or remove your installation of Pointsec Mobile by running the installation wizard.

To start the Pointsec Mobile installation wizard: 1. Insert the Pointsec Mobile Pocket PC CD into your CD disk drive. The following dialog box opens:
