System specification Interior construction, dry-wall construction

What is Planline? Planline is a glass module system which is flush-fitted to the frame or wall joint in order to construct multifunctional glass dividing walls / dividing wall glazing, sophisticated both in terms of appearance and safety. Planline glass can be manufactured in thicknesses up to 150 mm and individually tailored to the required frame or wall thickness. Glass walls, skylight glazing and dry-wall windows are thus able to be constructed either as uninterrupted glazing or aperture windows with a filigree appearance without obtrusive mullions. Frame construction The frame construction can be in aluminium, wood or steel. A special framework system is available which allows the flush-fitting installation of the Planline dry-wall window into dry walls up to 150 mm thickness. The frame is invisible after the wall has been cladded. Sealing system The Planline glass modules are fixed mechanically, but invisibly, in their respective frame constructions by means of a design-protected sealing system. This sealing system is the constructive interface between the frame and the glass module. Multi-functionality and multi compatibility The Planline glass module system offers multi-functional and multi-compatible functional components and performance characteristics: Fire protection, noise protection, personal protection, safety, privacy protection / darkening (by means of integrated Venetian- and roller-blinds) and radiation protection are combinable as desired, depending on the requirements. - fire-protection classes E 30, El 30, El 60 - high noise protection, up to 57 dB - safety against falling, safety against ball impact, bullet resistance, traffic safety from both sides - with Venetian blinds (electrical and manual) and roller blinds (electrical) in the space b etween the panes - with special glass panes for X-ray and laser protection in hospitals and laboratories Advantages - glass panes always flush-fitted to frames and walls - glass butt-jointed without profile - frame profile in Aluminium, Wood or Steel - frame profile invisibly integrated in the dry-wall construction - mechanically invisible glass fixing, no glazing bars, no dust/dirt on the profiles - no protruding edges and corners, no danger through sharp edges and off-sets between glass and frame - individual design possibilities using silk-screen printing, coating, sand blasting etc. - all-round edge enamelling in the colour of your choice - simple, straightforward installation and disassembly (reusability) of the glass module Plandoor in Planline The Planline Glass-Module-System is complemented by the possibility of integrating the Plandoor glass doors as hinged single- or double-doors or sliding doors. Planline’s all-glass appearance is maintained by the Plandoor door. The Plandoor is also tested for fire- and smoke protection. Plandoor’s hidden fittings allow the flush mounting of the frame and door leaf.

System specifications EI 30, EI 60 Interior construction, dry-wall construction

Non-load-bearing fire protection glazing EI 30, EI 60 The Planline systems EI 30 and EI 60 are glazing systems, flush-fitted to the framework construction and rated in the fire-resistance Classes EI 30 and EI 60, tested to DIN 4102 and EN 1364-1:1999-10, classified to DIN 4102-13 and EN 13501-2:2003. Thus, it is ensured that, for a fire duration of 30 or 60 minutes respectively, there is a protective barrier and that the insulation requirements (temperature increase on the outside surface of no more than 140°C mean, and maximum temperature increase of no more than 180°C above the initial mean temperature) are adhered to. The fire protection glazing Planline EI 30 and EI 60 are manufactured from special glass, a frame, fittings, seals and fixing materials. When using materials that are not described in this system specification or in other technical guidelines, it must be considered that statutory approvals or permission from the competent authorities may have to be obtained before manufacturing or installing. Technical element specification Planline EI 30 and EI 60 can be mounted in wooden frames, Planline EI 30 also in thermally separated steel profiles, forster fuego light from Forster Rohr- & Profiltechnik AG, Wicona-Aluminium tubular profile from Hydro Building System GmbH or with a special dry-wall frame in dry-walling, embedded on 2, 3 or 4 sides respectively. The individual panes can also be butt-jointed together using a connecting spring. The glass composite construction consists of a triple assembly from the combination of two external safety glasses as cover panes and a fire-resistant Class EI 30 or EI 60 composite glass panel in the middle.

Sectional diagram Planline EI 30

Sectional diagram Planline EI 60

The composite glazing, including the locking mechanism, is manufactured by Glastec. The fire-protective glazing can be divided into several partial surfaces, whereby these surfaces can be arranged horizontally or vertically as desired. An asymmetrically constructed fire protection glazing meets the requirements of the fire resistance Classes EI 30 and EI 60, independent of the direction of the exposure to fire.

System specification, dry-wall construction Dry-wall windows and frames

What is a Planline dry-wall window? Planline dry-wall windows are flush-fitting from both sides and are designed for multi-functional dry-walling, sophisticated from the optical and from the safety point of view. The Planline dry-wall glass can be manufactured in thicknesses up to 150 mm and individually tailored to the required frame or wall thickness. Thus, dry-wall windows, sky-light glazing and corner glazing, model flexibility, continuous glazing without mullions or aperture windows in filigree optic are possible. Planline dry-wall windows: versatile, safe, flush-fitting Planline dry-wall windows implement in ideal fashion every wish and demand of architects and home owners on dry-walling - even in large-surface glazing. A wide variety of glazing variations, such as noise protection - fire protection - protection of privacy - darkening - radiation protection, fulfil every wish and demand on function and design, without sacrificing homogeneity of design! Frame construction The special frame system for Planline dry-wall windows, which enables the mounting into dry-wall construction, is invisible after mounting, as well as all fixing components. The flexible and installation friendly frame construction provides for absolute flush fitting to the wall and defines the plasterboard joints. The frame can be adapted to model profiles and non-linear dry-wall (office) dividing walls. The invisible locking fixings which serve to fix the glass mechanically, provide a speedy installation and removal – thus allowing Planline dry-wall windows to be reused in renovation cases, without destroying the plasterboard wall! Planline Dry-wall

Installation instruction System frames

NOTE: The dry-wall construction system frames are normally delivered to the site secured for transport and ready for installation. Storing, unpacking, carrying and setting down of the individual system frames must be carried out with appropriate care. The relevant guidelines according to the currently valid EN Standards and/or DIN Norms as well as the regulations of the manufacturing/supply industry are to be complied with!

The construction of the metal stud wall from CW-UW-/UA profiles provides for an initial sizing, positioning (vertically in the X and Y directions) as well as the fixing of both external vertical profiles according to the given construction opening size. Further to this, the lower horizontal lintel is fixed, this must be either crimped or screwed across the angle to fix it to the vertical stud profiles (left and right). Riveting is not permitted!

Further profiles are to be installed according to specifications or requirements. The Planline system frames can now be installed. The frames must fit easily and without tension into the opening. Under no circumstances may the frames be pushed into the opening using force! The wooden bearings for the profiles are to be examined. (Note: The frame must sit evenly all round on the lintels and on both external stud profiles!)

After checking the X and Y directions (horizontal and vertical), it helps if a temporary fixing is carried out using releasable fastenings before the final fixing takes place. The screw fixing with suitable fixing materials now takes place at max. 400 mm spacings under permanent control of the dimensional accuracy. The screw fixing should take place all round on the inside of the metal profiles and into the wooden backing of the system frame.

Planline Dry-wall

Installation instruction System frames

General, special notices, warranty!

In the next step, the top horizontal lintel is installed and also crimped to both external vertical stud profiles. The final screw fixing should also take place at a maximum clearance of 400 mm. The 4 corner angles must show an exact 90 degree rightangle so that no optical discrepancies occur when subsequently glazing and sealing!

Once the system frame has been finally mounted, the size and position of the frame sections must be transferred to the plasterboard panels. The edges are to be bevelled and should fit tension-free on to the profile of the system frame! The plasterboard panels are now to be screw-fitted to the stud construction. The Aluminium profile of the system frame serves here as stop edge. A direct screw connection in the profile of the system frame is not necessary!

The limited projection of the frame allows for rapid rendering and filling. The free spaces will be filled with a suitable filling compound for the 1st and 2nd cladding bearing. Tip: A primer will improve the grip of the adhesive. The filling compound will be then smoothed as normal after the stipulated drying period. The glazing occurs as a rule after finishing all other tasks, for instance painter, floor layer, etc.

Planline Dry-wall

Installation instructions Glass composite elements

NOTE: The Planline glass composite elements are usually delivered packed on special glass carrier racks or otherwise in crates. Storing, unpacking, carrying and setting down of the individual system frames must be carried out with appropriate care, so that damage, for instance to the projecting glass edges, can be avoided!

Before setting the glass composite elements in the drywall system frames, which have previously been installed flush and in the perpendicular, it must be ensured that all glass retainers have been unlocked (in the 0° position). Glass retainers which project into the glass opening (i.e. in 90° position) are to be moved to the unlocked position and cleaned if necessary.

Before the Planline glass composite elements are set, 2 of the glass bearing blocks (hardwood blocks supplied with glazing) are to be laid directly beside the two lower glass retainers in such a way (ca. 10 cm from the corners) that the direct contact between the Planline glass composite element and the dry-wall system frame is ruled out.

Setting of the Planline glass composite elements is carried out, dependent on the weight, either by means of suitable suction lifting tools or with hoists. It is recommended that the setting of the glazing be carried out by at least two persons! It must be ensured that the edges of the external cover glazing are supported on the bearing blocks at least to one half of the thickness of the glass - by no means should these protrude.

Planline Dry-wall

Installation instructions Glass composite elements

General, special notices, warranty!

After setting down on the bearing blocks (3), the Planline glass composite elements are to be aligned in such a way that the glass surfaces are level with the adjacent wall surfaces. The glass retainers are then pivoted into the locating groove of the Planline glass composite elements (90° position) by means of the key provided. This leads to an invisible mechanical locking.

In their locked condition (4), the Planline glass composite elements will then be aligned in the system frame using suitable block levers, usually made of wood, and glass bearing / spacer blocks in such a way that an all-round even joint of ca. 5 mm is created.

Following this, the joint between the Planline glass composite elements and the enclosing frame is to be pointed with a permanently elastic sealer (Silicon, for instance Ottoseal). The depth of injection is to be limited to a maximum of 10 mm by the insertion of suitable filling material (round cord). Care must be taken that the glass retainers are not restricted in their function. An appropriate drying time must be kept - "finger testing" often leads to loss of optical quality! Questions? Telephone: + 49 (0) 8031 / 94148-30 ; Fax: +49 (0) 8031 / 94148-48 ; eMail: [email protected]
