VOLUNTEER AGREEMENT Audi quattro Winter Games NZ values the time and support generously given by volunteers and thanks you for your commitment. We have certain standards outlined below that we will work towards in order to make your experience a positive one.

Audi quattro Winter Games NZ will strive to:

- Treat all volunteers equally and with respect - Provide a clear role description and contact person - Provide necessary induction or training to enable you to fulfil your role - Provide a safe working environment - Acknowledge and provide recognition to all volunteers - Enable you to withdraw or say no without guilt

Audi quattro Winter Games NZ asks that you:

- Are reliable and advise us of any change of availability - Seek support if you’re feeling out of your depth or struggling with the commitment required - Strive to maintain and enhance the events reputation within the community - Respect the operational guidelines of the event organisers - Participate in any induction or training required for your role - Report hazards, incidents, accidents or any safety concerns you have to your immediate Manager or the Volunteer Manager

THE SNOW RESPONSIBILITY CODE 1. Stay in control at all times Know your ability, start easy, be able to stop and avoid other people. Losing control is the number one cause of falls. 2. People below you have the right of way The skier or boarder downhill of you has the right of way. Don’t forget to look above before entering a trail. 3. Obey all ski area signage Signs are there for your safety. Keep out of closed areas. 4. Look before you leap Scope out jumps first. Ensure the area is clear of others and use a spotter on blind jumps. 5. Stop where you can be seen When stopping, try to move to the side of the trail and make sure you can be seen from above. 6. Don’t lose what you use Equipment must be secured while walking or stashing. This goes for rubbish too! Remember to take all your waste with you so it doesn’t become a hazard for others (or the environment). 7. Stay on scene If you are involved in or witness an accident, remain at the scene and identify yourself to the ski patrol. 8. Respect gets respect Right from the lift line, to the slopes, and through the car park – treat others as you would want to be treated.

RADIO PROTOCOL - Keep the radio you have been issued with on you at all times. You are responsible for it. - Think about what you need to say before you begin to transmit. Be as concise as possible. - Always be professional, you do not know who will be listening to other radios on your frequency. - Only one person can speak across a radio frequency at a time. While you are holding down the button on your radio, other people will not be able to speak over the frequency. Equally you will not be able to hear what anyone else is saying. Please ensure that you do not lean on your radio button by mistake (in a pocket etc) as this will block the frequency for everyone else. - Do not comment on any medical emergencies over the radio - Listen for any other radio traffic before you begin to avoid talking over someone else. Do not interrupt a discussion unless it is an emergency. If you need to break a conversation for an emergency introduce your communication with the word “BREAK”. - Radios are not to be used for personal chatter, only for information essential for the smooth operation of the event. If you need to have a longer discussion with someone, either switch to a free channel (if one is available), arrange to meet them, or call them on a cell phone. - Keep your sentences brief and to the point. If you have a lot of information to report, stop every now and again to be sure you are being heard. - When transmitting, you must press the transmit button (PTT) for a second before and a second after speaking to avoid cutting yourself off. - Use a voice tone and volume as if you are speaking to someone in the same room as you and maintain a consistent volume. Try and stand out of the wind when speaking. - When giving numbers over the radio repeat the individual numbers e.g. “team 17, one seven” or “team 89, eight nine” EXAMPLE: First, say the name of the person you are calling, then your name: To acknowledge your understanding use the word “COPY”. ARTHUR: “Mags for Arthur” MAGS: “Go for Mags” ARTHUR: “Mags, how many competitors are left to run?” MAGS: “24, two four” ARTHUR: “Copy that.”
