Peter Friberg MD, is a senior physician at the dpt. of clinical physiology, Sahlgrenska University Hospital and professor at Göteborg University. His research interests include cardiovascular determinants in children and adolescents, including lifestyle choices. He is known for his interest in public health, and is engaged in the quest for improved global health. He has served as President for The Swedish Society of Medicine.

Professor Ruth Malone, University of California San Fransisco School of Nursing, is known nationally and internationally for her research on the tobacco industry’s strategic efforts to counter public health. Dr. Malone contributed to the WHO report on Tobacco Industry Interference with Tobacco Control, which was utilized for implementation efforts related to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. She is editor-in-chief of the journal Tobacco Control.

Richard Edwards MD, is a professor at The University of Otago, New Zealand. He has over 20 years of experience in tobacco control practice and research in the UK and New Zealand. Richard is a co-director of ASPIRE 2025 research collaboration and co-Head of the Department of Public Health, University of Otago, Wellington. His research focuses on tobacco control policy and investigating how to achieve New Zealand’s Smokefree 2025 goal.

Director General of the TobaccoFree Research Institute Ireland (TFRI), Consultant Physician, St James Hospital. He led the support for the 2004 legislation when Ireland became the 1st country to introduce smokefree bars and restaurants. He was ENSP President and Chair of the ERS Tobacco Control Committee. He was President of the International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases, Chairman of the ERS TB Scientific Group and a TB Advisor to the WHO and Dept of Foreign Affairs Ireland. Current research includes e-cigarette usage in school students and plain packaging of tobacco, Horizon 2020 projects on Smoking in children, guidelines for treatment of smoking cessation and measurement of health effects of SHS in exempted areas.

Dr Antero Heloma is Head of Unit for Tobacco, Gambling and Addiction at the Finnish National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). He received his PhD/MD from the University of Tampere. He has 25 years of professional experience in research and activities related to Tobacco Control. He is head of the WHO-FCTC Knowledge Hub on surveillance. Dr Heloma has worked in several EU co-funded projects and is part of the Tobacco-Free Finland 2030 network.

Dr Göran Boëthius served as head of the Lung clinic at Östersund Hospital. He earned his PhD by studying pharmaceutical epidemiology. With time he changed focus to tobacco prevention. Dr Boëthius was one of the founders of Doctors Against Tobacco and is now chairing ”Tobaksfakta” a tobacco prevention think tank committed to ”Tobacco Endgame – Smokefree Sweden 2025”

Ken Warner trained as an economist and is now Distinguished University Professor of Public Health at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. He previously served as Dean of Public Health. He has a long and distinguished career in tobacco policy research and has made significant contributions in tobacco control, both nationally and internationally, including serving as the World Bank’s representative to negotiations on the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.

After a long medical and public service career she is representing the Liberal Party as an MP. Her life-long interest in public health has made her an important supporter of tobacco prevention.

Iréne Nilsson Carlsson, folkhälsoråd vid Socialstyrelsen har bl.a. en bakgrund som departementsråd vid Socialdepartementet. På Socialstyrelsen är Iréne projektledare för flera satsningar inom regeringens strategi för kroniska sjukdomar, bland annat stöd till implementeringen av Nationella Riktlinjer för Sjukdomsförebyggande Metoder.

He is a prolific writer on illicit tobacco trade and has been an adviser to WHO, FCTC, the World Bank, the EU-Commission and many other organizations.

Geronimo Salomón Holmer, is a public health and health policy data analyst who has worked for the Swedish Institute for Communicable Disease Control, the OECD and lately the Public Health Agency of Sweden. Geronimo has performed computer simulations analysing possible outcomes of preventive public health programs.

Olle Lundberg is Professor of Health Equity Studies at the Centre for Health Equity Studies (CHESS). His research in the field stretches back 30 years, and he is currently chairing the governmental Swedish Commission for Equity in Health. An interim report was published recently and the final report presenting the recommendations from the Commission will be presented in May 2017.
