Since the 1970s Hathaways has earned a reputation for the sale and acquisition of properties.
The Period House Department was borne out of a personal enthusiasm for architecture by the founder and director, Barrie Warrener, initially concentrating on the niche market of Westminster and St James’s Park. Today the Period House Department has grown far beyond its original parameters and a passion for fine architecture is shared by all members of staff who seek out these fine properties throughout central London.

PROPERTY FOCUS
Great Peter Street Westminster SW1 A discrete Arts and Crafts property, bespoke for Admiral Sir Tufton Beamish MP in 1929 with an astonishing attention to detail. Quite simply a unique property, with a magnificently carved oak staircase decorated with tridents, shells, ships’ wheels and other nautical motifs. The sea-fairing theme can be found throughout the house, with carved dolphins in the sideboards of the oak-panelled dining room and seahorses over the fireplace. The roof terrace gives the most glorious views towards Westminster Abbey.

Headfort Place Belgravia SW1X Previously known as ‘the Triumphal Chariot’, a mews pub in the heart of Belgravia, this property was well established as a popular local tavern as early as 1844. Its declining fortunes in the 20th century however saw the facade preserved as a residential property which remained in the same ownership for 50 years before it came to the market in 2010 to be sold for complete refurbishment.
