In 2007, we introduced affordable water/methanol injection for forced induction vehicles. Infinity ECU

High-End Stand Alone Engine Control for the Racing Masses The Infinity ECU delivers state of the art engine control for the racing masses at a fraction of the cost of comparable high end systems. Built around a latest generation 200MHz automotive processor, the Infinity is capable of processing 400 MIPS (millions of Instructions per second). The Infinity ECU is available in configurations to support four- to 12- cylinder engines. The Infinity’s airflow-based, volumetric efficiency (VE) tuning models simplify start up and speed up the tuning process by eliminating many of the lookup and trim tables (Correction Tables) necessary in previous generation ECUs. Combined with AEM’s industry leading after-purchase support system, including free technical support, the Infinity is the ultimate engine control solution for both professional race teams and weekend track cars.

Infinity-6

The Infinity-6 is designed for four- and six-cylinder racecars and includes a single 80 pin connector. Elimination of features that are not needed to control these smaller engines puts the Infinity-6 at an unmatched price point for this level of engine control.

Infinity-8h

The Infinity-8h is designed for high performance crate engines or smaller engines using high impedance injectors. It is able to control up to 8 cylinders using high-impedance injectors.

Selecting the Right Infinity ECU

The Infinity ECU is designed for maximum flexibility across many types of applications. It is available for a wide variety of vehicles as either a Supported Application or Plug & Play Application.

Supported Applications Infinity Supported Applications refer to an engine family or cam/crank pattern for which the Infinity ECU has been tested and validated to run. However, certain ancillary vehicle systems (such as factory instrument clusters, automatic transmissions, stability control systems and certain drive by wire throttles), may not be supported. Please refer to the instruction manuals on our website for specific information on each supported application. Wiring is required for Supported applications. AEM offers Universal wiring harnesses in several iterations and detailed application-specific wiring instructions/schematics. See “Wiring Harnesses” on page 9.

Plug & Play Applications Infinity Plug & Play Applications are available for select vehicles. Plug & Play Applications support a vehicle’s engine and most other ancillary vehicle systems, and include application-specific start up calibrations. On some vehicles, the Infinity is able to integrate additional features like on-the-fly map switching, traction control, three step and switchable drive-by-wire (DBW) maps though the factory steering wheel and center console buttons. The Infinity Plug & Play harness (sold separately) connects directly into the vehicle’s factory ECU harness. These harnesses include expansion ports for easy integration of ancillary sensors. See “Wiring Harnesses” on page 9. Infinity Plug & Play ECU for the BMW E46 M3 and S54 swaps.

InfinityTuner Software

InfinityTuner, the Infinity’s user interface software, is optimized for speed and performance with super high-resolution 3D graphics, and features user-selectable control types for custom layouts. An ECU Setup Wizard takes complex calibration setup work and simplifies it through a smart interface. The Infinity’s data logging playback mode allows for calibration editing and all controls are synched to the logged data. This allows you to edit calibration data exactly where you need to and minimize your tuning time. Multi-Language Support

Infinity Tuner will soon feature on-screen instructions in Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese, Portuguese , Swedish, Russian, German and Arabic. Visit aemelectronics.com for updates.

A fully customizable workspace puts tables and info where you want it. Data logging playback mode is synched to controls and lets you edit calibrations exactly where you need to.

The Infinity’s Wizard has powerful tools to eliminate many burdens during the set up process. For instance, the Output Diagnostics Wizard allows you to manually trigger outputs to verify proper wiring. As you trigger the output the pin location flashes in the output list and connector schematic.

The Infinity further simplifies set up of complicated systems for a wide variety of functions. In the associated screen capture the drive-by-wire set up is broken down into six easy steps, while in the background InfinityTuner simultaneously samples multiple inputs while calibrating the pedal positions and throttle position sensors.

Series 2 Plug & Pin Kits AEM Plug & Pin Kits essentially allow you to “start over” with your harness to create a new harness or replace your existing factory harness using new plugs and pins. Piggyback Engine Control for Aftermarket Boosted Vehicles AEM’s Fuel/Ignition Controllers allow racers to retard ignition and deliver accurate amounts of fuel without the need for outdated FMUs or “boost hiding” controllers. This system works parallel with most factory ECUs (OBD-compatible) on non direct-injected, gas engine, naturally aspirated or forced induction race vehicles (with or without variable cam timing). It prevents tuning limitations due to complex factory timing patterns. F/IC software is Windows compatible (XP, Vista, 7 and 8).

AEMdata Analysis Software

AEMdata is a custom data analysis software package for select AEM products that features advanced 3D graphics and a user-friendly interface. It allows the user to review and playback vehicle, driver or engine data and overlay this data using charts, dash displays, gauges, or custom displays that you create. High-speed logging is saved to a file internally or via PC connection. All channels are listed in the AEMdata set up menu. Users simply drag and drop the channel that they want to analyze into a lane or gauge and it will display. Users can set alarms and program definable color changes for parameters of logged channels to quickly skim logged data for color changing peaks and valleys, versus tracing the channel log to find where a problem occurred. AEMdata has powerful features including custom maths channels, x/y plots and histograms, stage or circuit modes and more, all aimed at making sure you get the most out of your data.

What is a Wideband UEGO Controller?

AEM’s Wideband UEGO (Universal Exhaust Gas Oxygen, pronounced “You-Way-Go”) Controllers are powerful, cost effective tuning tools that allow users to accurately monitor the Air/Fuel Ratio (AFR) of an engine.

Why Use a Wideband Controller? Accurate AFR data is critical when tuning an engine. Running rich (very low air/fuel ratio, excessive fuel) can cause a loss in power, while running too lean (very high air/fuel ratio, not enough fuel) may result in serious engine damage. Using a wideband controller during the tuning process allows you to monitor AFR and adjust tuning parameters to optimize them for maximum power and efficiency. AEM has a comprehensive line of highly accurate, reliable wideband controllers that can help ensure your vehicle is optimally tuned.

What is Free-Air Calibration? Some of our competitors require that you frequently perform a free-air calibration procedure to calibrate their O2 sensors. This process involves removing the sensor from the bung while still connected to the controller device, then waving the sensor in the air so it can read atmospheric O2 levels. We use Bosch 4.2LSU sensors in our wideband controllers. Our sensors are individually laboratory-calibrated by Bosch and never require free air calibration.

Bosch 4.2LSU Sensors These sensors are known for their speed and accuracy. They are calibrated at the factory and NEVER require free-air calibration. Sensor kits are available that include Stainless Steel Tall Manifold Bungs (see page 25).

Can I Change The AEM UEGO Sensor’s Connector? No. There is a laser-etched, calibrated resistor in the sensor’s connector body. This resistor is specifically created for the exact sensor that it is attached to. Modifying this will invalidate the sensor’s output. Wideband Failsafe Gauge

Displays Air/Fuel Ratio and Boost or Vacuum and Can Save Your Engine if it Runs Lean! The Wideband Failsafe Gauge monitors both air/fuel ratio (AFR) and manifold pressure (up to 29 PSI boost/vacuum). It displays this data on the gauge face and you can program what data you want to be displayed, choosing either boost, vacuum, AFR or lambda in the center organic LED screen and/or the outer OLED ring. AEM’s TRU-BOOST Gauge-Type Controller is an electronic boost controller that combines the simplicity of a manual boost controller with the added ease of adjusting boost levels through a gauge interface. AEM Performance Electronics has released two High Flow in-tank Fuel Pumps for high performance naturally aspirated and forced induction EFI vehicles. These pumps flow up to 320 lph (84 gph) at 43 PSI and are capable of supporting over 1,000 HP at 43 PSI.* Flow curves from 35 to 90 PSI and current draw vs. fuel pressure charts are available at www.aemelectronics.com. One pump is for use with gasoline only and an E85 pump is available that is compatible with E100 ethanol, M100 methanol and all types gasoline. This 800-plus horsepower, turbocharged four-cylinder also uses AEM’s 4-Channel Wideband UEGO Controller, Universal Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, -10 AN High Flow Inline filter, analog style gauges and sensors.

Engine Position Module

Replaces Your Distributor for Converting to Coil-On-Plug or Wasted Spark! AEM’s Engine Position Module (EPM) allows users to convert their distributed ignition system to coil-on-plug (COP) or wasted spark. It replaces the factory distributor to allow for the use of COP or wasted spark when used with the necessary additional components (see CDI Pencil Coils next page and Four Channel Coil Driver below). It provides precise engine position via dual zero-speed optical sensors that deliver immediate signal generation regardless of engine speed (24 and 1 timing signal). A shock absorbing elastomer drive system eliminates potential timing deviation from vibration and protects the EPM module.
