What is a Concussion? • An injury to the brain

• Caused by blow to head or another part of the body • Blow causes the brain to move rapidly inside the skull • Movement causes stretching of brain cells

• Stretching causes chemical changes in the brain (McCrory et al., 2013; CDC, 2016)

What is a Concussion? • Clinical diagnosis made by a medical professional based on observed and reported signs and symptoms • CT Scans & X-rays cannot diagnose a concussion
