This leaflet is developed exclusively for stroke patients.

Stroke often comes abrupt and unexpected. In a very short period of time, the personal life conditions of the affected people change. As a consequence life goals need to be re-accommodated. From the viewpoint of symptomatic, stroke often manifests a paralyses of half of the body (hemi paresis/hemiplegia). Man itself is affected fully, and this has implications to its personal surroundings such as family and other close relatives.

Around 250.000 people suffer each year from stroke in Germany. Almost half of them remain disable even after one year, which then cause long lasting invalidity. Currently around one Million people are affected by stroke. Due to the ageing of society, stroke diseases will increase considerably in the coming years. Affected are also young people. Through the concept “Dynamics instead of Rigid Splints”, we show you through this brochure, modern functional assistive aid for upper and lower limbs, which could help you to improve your life quality after stroke. DYNAMICS INSTEAD OF RIGID SPLINTS - T H E R A P Y C O N C E P T

SUCCESS DEPENDS FROM MANY FACTORS Independent of heavy stroke syndrome, the early therapy is an important condition for a best possible re-win of lost functions. The supply with functional supportive aids is an important part of the therapy. For the motoric rehabilitation, the painful structures and movements are badly trained. Therefore it is important to protect the joints and to support them functionally as long as the musculature could take over these functions independently. Through the principle Dynamics instead of Rigid Splints, our braces will be applied in further rehabilitation process in order to support weak musculature. They have to be adjusted individually in the rehabilitation process. This means: as little support as possible, but always as much as necessary.

BACK TO EVERYDAY LIFE In order to reach a successful continuous therapy, it is essential to transfer the acquired learning into daily life. The active embedding of affected person to the treatment process, shall lead to a fast and better participation to everyday life. Functional orthotics from SPORLASTIC support this purpose.

Wrist joint brace MANU-HIT DIGITUS protects the wrist and thumb joints from limited mobility. A specialized support could influence and limit the muscle tone. This protects the structures of the hand, in case of increased muscle tone in wrist and/or thumb joints (spastic), as well as if the thumb power and hand extension musculature is not sufficient for a stretcher.

NEURO – RESTICT AND FOOT-UP®

CIMT – THERAPY NEURO - RESTRICT RE-USE OF ARM AND HAND CIMT (Constraint Induced Movement Therapy) therapy concept will be introduced very effectively in the rehabilitation of arm function.

The limited functionality of the paralyzed arm leads patients to the “learned non-use” of the arm which states for the frequent use of non-affected arm (healthy hand). This compensatory use of the healthy hand should be reversed through CIMT-Therapy, in which the use of healthy hand is stopped temporary through restrictive orthosis. Paralyzed arm shall carry out the movement, thus assuring its training.

THERAPY FOR CLINIC AND HOME MOBILAS®

FOOT-LEVATOR ORTHOSIS – DYNAMIC SUPPORT OF FOOT MUSCULATUR FOUR “PACEMAKER” BY PARALYSES

RE- G AIN O F LO ST FUNCT IO NS As a result of paralyze with weak foot-levator, the affected person usually conducts automatic compensation mechanisms such as round foreword placement of leg with sidestep movements in torso and hip. As a result, the risk of overturning is increased.

Gait pattern with orthosis – it shows, that less round movement (see green line) occur above the knee or hip. A good heel contact cares for the right training impulse of the footlevator musculature. In terms of a normal gait pattern, the gait coordination and step sizes will be improved.

Dynamic orthotics encourage the weak musculature and enable a better going, without preventing muscle function.

FOOT-LEVATOR ORTHOSIS – DYNAMIC SUPPORT OF FOOT MUSCULATUR FOUR “PACEMAKER” BY PARALYSES

NEURODYN®-COMFORT Innovation by placement - Trick with Click! The independent placement of orthosis causes very often some problems, in case one hand is paralyzed. Many patients can not use the advantages of dynamic orthosis without help of third parties. 1 With the innovative Click-Strap, the ankle element could be placed with one hand. 2 The Velcro closure system enables the simple adaption of the width.
