ACPS Community Partnerships — The mission of the ACPS Strategic Plan 2020: Every Student Succeeds is to educate lifelong learners and inspire civic responsibility. Goal two of the Strategic Plan 2020, “Family and Community Engagement,” recognizes the important role of community partners in this effort as partners extend the reach of the school division and strengthen the supports provided to students. As outlined in the Strategic Plan 2020, the ACPS Office of Partnerships, Family and Community Engagement cultivates and maintains partnerships to encourage a sense of community ownership of our schools, assist the development of the academic, social, physical and emotional needs of our students and empower parents to be supportive and informed advocates for their children. ACPS partners are as diverse as our students. Local businesses, government agencies, nonprofits, faith-based organizations and educational institutions all offer incredible supports, resources and opportunities designed to comprehensively meet the needs of ACPS students, families and staff.

ACPS has three primary types of partners: Service Partners (S) Service partners provide extended learning, enrichment, recreation, mentorships, internships, workshops, guest speakers, staff-development, social-emotional services and other supports. Resource Partners (R) Resource partners provide use of space, school supplies, food, gift cards, incentive prizes, materials, equipment, financial and other in-kind donations. Formal Partners (F) Formal partners provide resources and/or services to ACPS as well. The extent of the resources/services provided, however, requires the execution of a written agreement that outlines basic legal provisions required by school board policy (File: KQ1) as well as a scope of work with goals and outcomes agreed to by both parties.

For More Information: For more information about ACPS community partnerships, how to become a formal ACPS partner, or if you have any updates, changes or corrections to the 2015-16 Community Partners Directory, please contact Shanna Samson at 703-619-8152 or [email protected].
