Welcome

Dear Visitor, The key success factors of ISH are its technology leadership, international profile and quality. With Poland as the first partner country in the 55-year history of the event, ISH 2015 is building on these positives and confirming its importance as the leading international innovation platform for the sanitation, heating and air-conditioning installation sectors.   As its direct neighbour to the East, Poland has close links of friendship with Germany going back decades and is widely recognised for its vital cultural role within the European Community. Above all, it is Poland’s powerful economic development that has placed the country in the international spotlight. Poland and Germany are mutually important foreign trading partners. This is particularly evident in the energy and sanitation sectors. In addition to the exchange of goods, another extremely valuable investment driver is the cross-border transfer of knowledge. In this context, the different perspectives provide a strong stimulus in the development of new solutions in the sanitation, heating and air-conditioning installation sectors. We are delighted about the ISH partnership with Poland and hope you will find valuable inspirations and interesting encounters here.

area we also want to benefit from the experience of the “Made in Germany” brand. For around 20 years Germany has been our most important trading partner. And Poland, in turn, is one of Germany’s ten most important business partners.

Dear Visitor, The participation of Poland as the ISH 2015 partner country provides an opportunity to forge new business contacts and to intensify German-Polish trade cooperation. Poland is a country of young, ambitious and enterprising individuals. The high qualifications and skills of Polish engineers, programmers, IT experts and other professionals are well known and are recognised around the world. Poland’s attractiveness as an investment location is confirmed not just by international rankings but also, more importantly, by those entrepreneurs and businesses that take the step of locating their projects in Poland. Our strength is a stable economy that is developing strongly and has achieved increasingly good results in comparison to the rest of the EU over more than two decades. Poland’s membership of the EU has given Polish companies the strength and courage to compete in the European market place. The “Made in Poland” brand is increasingly associated in Europe and throughout the world with high quality and product reliability as well as competitive prices. In this 6

In our activities we concentrate first and foremost on sustainable, knowledge-based and innovation-based development. Our priorities continue to be the modernisation of the energy sector, diversification of energy sources, development of the transport infrastructure, environmental technology and the encouragement of entrepreneurial activity. At a regional level, the modernisation of heating supply networks, thermal modernisation of buildings and waste management are areas of increasing importance. We also sponsor collaboration between research and business. The effects of this collaboration are stimulating not just the growing competitiveness of the economy, they also enable the professional development of young professionals whose skills are highly prized across the world. I am delighted to invite you to visit the Polish exhibitors at ISH and to find out about their offerings. I am confident that when you talk to Polish companies, you will be impressed by the attractiveness and competitiveness of their products and that you will discover new opportunities for wide-ranging trade cooperation with firms from Poland.

now either been rehabilitated or decommissioned, the water quality in both the rivers Oder and Lusatian Neisse has improved dramatically, and remediation of the environmental damage done on both sides of the border by mining brown coal has now begun. Nature is flourishing under our joint care and attention.

Dear Visitor, Poland and Germany are bound by close ties of interaction and friendship. Cooperation on environmental issues and climate protection plays a major role in this relationship, and first began in the 1990s. At the same time as the German-Polish Treaty of Good Neighbourliness and Friendly Cooperation, an Agreement on the Establishment of a German-Polish Environment Council was signed on 17 June 1991. This formed the basis for cooperation which is characterized by a climate of mutual trust and continuity to this day. The focus of our work has always been and remains on the environmentally responsible development of the areas along the 467 kilometres of our shared border. We achieve this through finely tuned cross-border cooperation. Power plants on both sides of the border have

In recent years, the emphasis of our collaboration has increasingly shifted towards climate and energy policy. Our experience shows that committed action by the private sector, local administrations and concerned citizens can play a decisive role in the spread of lowemission technologies. I am therefore particularly pleased that my Ministry is able to support exchanges between local authorities and businesses in Poland and Germany through a wide range of activities. I am convinced that bilateral cooperation on environmental and climate protection can continue to underpin Polish-German relations. This valuable support will be provided not only by the two national governments, but also by the German and Polish regional governments, local authorities, environmental organisations, Euroregions, educational facilities and many other interested individuals. Thus we have laid the best possible foundations for successful cooperation, for the protection of our shared natural resources and for a fruitful future together.

The ISH and our partner country Poland

In 2015, ISH will feature a new partner country concept. Poland is the first ISH partner country and will take centre stage before an international trade fair audience. Germany is already the second-biggest market for Polish manufacturers in the sanitary and energy sectors, and the number of Polish firms exhibiting at ISH has risen markedly in recent years. The choice of Poland as our first partner country reflects this development. This year, over 90 Polish companies are exhibiting at ISH. You’ll find 12 of these firms in a special joint-stand area in Galleria 0. Here exhibitors will come together to present their innovative products jointly, thus raising the profile of Poland as a business location. We look forward to welcoming our first partner country speakers and exhibitors to ISH!

Poland: The place, people and prospects

In 2015, ISH will feature its first partner country Poland, a nation that plays an important role within Europe’s “energy union”. The choice of Poland underlines the country’s growing importance as an economic partner and honours the decades of friendship between Poland and Germany.

A modern state at the heart of Europe Poland is the sixth-largest state in the European Union, with a population of over 38 million. Although Poland covers some 312,000 square kilometres, and is therefore only a tenth smaller than Germany, it has only around half as many inhabitants as its neighbour. Poland is centrally located in continental Europe with access to the Baltic Sea from a coastline stretching over 500 kilometres. Poland is the interface between major transit routes, and thus possesses excellent prospects for economic growth. Poland’s dynamic history together with the diversity of nationalities and faiths which have long coexisted here have created a fascinating culture. The list of Polish people – often from cities such as Warsaw, Krakow and Poznan – who have strode the international stage includes Frédéric Chopin, Nicolaus Copernicus and Pope John Paul II.

Feast your eyes and open your heart: Poland has plenty to offer Poland today is a prosperous country with many sights to attract visitors. Above all, its rural beauty touches tourists’ hearts, from light sandy beaches on the Baltic Sea coast to lakeland plains containing over 10,000 bodies of water. Poland’s unspoilt natural environment is a rarity in Europe, and is well preserved and protected by over 20 national parks. Polish hospitality is legendary. A traditional proverb sums it up: ‘A guest in your house is a God in your house’. This sets the tone for the welcome visitors receive – heartfelt and truly affectionate. Such hospitality is greatly appreciated by the many business travellers who increasingly come from around the world to visit the country’s trade fairs, conventions and festivals.

Today ISH partner country; tomorrow your partner Poland is a fascinating place, always worth a visit. The economic prospects are also attractive. Come and see for yourself. The Polish exhibitors at ISH look forward to meeting you.
