A Message from the Pastor

Parish Goals; 2015/2020: After meeting with Dr. Jeff Johnson of Iowa State last year to review our progress on our 2009 -2014 goals, the parish leadership gathered to share perspectives on where we might go in these next few years. Their input was inspired! This week the parish council will review a draft of the proposed new parish goals and seek responses from our parish groups/boards/ committees. We are also interested in suggestions from all our parishioners. To that end we will, in two weeks, have copies of the draft available for everyone to read and respond. Once that input has been accumulated, we will prayerfully draft a final version for our parish, so we can all work together in making progress as a growing Catholic Community. “53rd Sunday Collection” Thank you to the 73 families who supported the 53rd Sunday collection. We raised $10,360. We will put the money to good use adding it to last year’s tithing totals. As promised, we have three winners from the drawing: Brad & Ellen Moist Sharon Sanders Tom & Karen Formaro We will mail your gift card to you. Congratulations!!

Tithing Electronically The way parishioners tithe to their church has changed so much these past years. With the computer age exploding, social media communication at an all-time high, and banking regulations changing, banking by ACH has proven to be the safest most effective way to support your Church. Currently at Christ the King, 35% of our tithing parishioners tithe using ACH Tithing. We are reaching out again to ask parishioners to sign up for this effective way to give. It’s safer. Because nothing is handled, no cash, no checks. Simply a bank transfer from your bank to the churches. It’s controlled by you. You determine when and how much you want to give, starting and stopping whenever you feel. Anytime we can take handling of money (cash and checks) out of our system we have a lower cost and better accountability. Sign up today. ACH tithing Forms are at the information Desk. Any questions, please contact Chris Aldinger at the parish office 285.2888. Des Moines, Iowa

Oracion: Amado Dios Toma mi vida y permíteme vivir serenamente este día. Abre mi mente a pensamientos positivos. Amén Christ the King

CRECIENDO JUNTOS EN LA FE—GROWING TOGETHER IN FAITH Daily Offering of Prayer God, our Father, I offer You my day. I offer You my prayers, thoughts, words, actions, joys and sufferings in union with the Heart of Jesus, who continues to offer Himself in the Eucharist for the salvation of the world. May the Holy Spirit, Who guided Jesus, be my guide and my strength today so that I may witness to your love. With Mary, the mother of our Lord and the Church, I pray for all Apostles of Prayer and for the prayer intentions proposed by the Holy Father this month. Amen.

Quote of the Week “In the life of the body a man is sometimes sick, and unless he takes medicine, he will die. Even so in the spiritual life a man is sick on account of sin. For that reason he needs medicine so that he may be restored to health; and this grace is bestowed in the Sacrament of Penance.” St. Thomas Aquinas
