PAN-European FECMA Credit Management Congress “European Best Practices” Inspiration for Credit Managers 16. & 17. May 2013 Budapest, Hungary
From the Office of the President of FECMA
Dear colleagues, I am taking this opportunity to personally add a few words to the publicity you will have already seen regarding the FECMA Pan European Credit Conference, which is being held in Budapest on 16 and 17 May 2013. The setting is as grand as it could be – the wonderful Hungarian Academy, in the heart of the city on the banks of the Danube, and the content is designed to be of interest, and be relevant to all credit managers, whatever the size of their organisation or their business sector.
an important conference, coming as it does at a time when Europe’s various national economies are going through a very tough period, and the value and worth of the credit management profession has never been more needed and sought after. It is well worthy of your support and I do hope that I will have the great pleasure of seeing you in Budapest. Sincerely,
The FECMA team have assembled credit managers from across the continent of Europe, to give of their expertise and share their experiences. The conference is aimed to be practical, not academic (notwithstanding the venue!) and therefore of meaning and value to all who attend. There will be ample opportunity set aside for networking in its truest sense, and our supporting sponsors will be only too happy to make themselves available at any time. This is
Glen Bullivant FICM President, Federation of European Credit Management Associations
Welcome to Budapest
Dear Colleagues, Some time ago, in autumn 2011, just a year after the Hungarian Credit Management Association has been established, the FECMA council meeting was held in Helsinki, Finland. The host was the Finish Credit Management Association, and they invited us, council members to their gala dinner, where the Finish Institute celebrated their 50 year anniversary. FECMA, the European umbrella organisation for national credit management institutes is a sound mixture of decade-long experience and fresh ideas. This is the essential value of FECMA, and is reflected in their vision to promote best practice in credit management by enabling the members of all the FECMA associations to share their knowledge and experience. A vision needs to be materialised, therefore FECMA council has decided to organise a Congress for Credit Managers from all over Europe. The basic idea behind the event was that since members of the national institutes already know each other, we should bring the European professional community together, provide high quality content, and create a platform for cross border exchange and networking. The Hungarian Credit Management Association, as one of the youngest national credit management institutes is proud to host the first Pan European Credit Management Congress!
No doubt, the crisis of recent years has substantially raised the profile of credit management. Countries across the old continent are faced with several difficulties; we all have to find the right answers to new challenges. Credit Managers are in the frontline, taking much more responsibility than ever. Credit Managers have direct links to customers, know all the industry players, take part in elaborating business strategies and give support to sales. The Pan European Congress will be the event for discussing current issues and developments that have impact on our daily work. Finally, I would like to thank our guest speakers and sponsors for supporting us in organising an event that we believe will provide Credit Managers with fresh ideas and inspiration. I am looking forward to meeting you in Budapest! Sincerely,
Péter Szentirmay Chairman, Hungarian Credit Management Association
