Christians of the Holy Land The Good Friday Collection Explained Pictured (left) is the Jerusalem Cross. If you have the opportunity to visit the Holy Land you will see this cross displayed everywhere. The meaning behind the Jerusalem Cross can be explained in many ways. The most famous are its representation of the Five Wounds of Jesus Christ. Another is the large cross representing the Person of Jesus, with the smaller four crosses representing the Four Gospels spread to the Four Corners of the Earth started in the Upper Room, in Jerusalem, more than 2000 years ago on Pentecost. We are blessed with rich and marvelous tradition! The Good Friday collection is taken up once a year and provides the necessary basic cash flow, operating income if you will, to sustain the Catholic institutions in the Holy Land. It is our collective privilege and duty to preserve our tangible heritage in our Christian Holy Land. Please give generously! Peace Salam, Rami Qumsieh, KHS, a concerned Catholic Palestinian from Bethlehem.

EASTER SUNDAY - BAPTISMS BAPTISMS WILL BE CONDUCTED AT THE 1:10PM MASS IN THE MAIN CHURCH

CHRISM MASS AT THE CATHEDRAL To give our priests an opportunity to attend the Chrism Mass (blessing of oils) at the Cathedral on Tuesday, April 15, there will be NO 7:00pm Mass here at the parish.

PRO LIFE CORNER “The fundamental human right, the presupposition of every other right, is the right to life itself. This is true of life from the moment of conception until its natural end. Abortion, consequently, cannot be a human right – it is the very opposite. It is a deep wound in society” Pope Benedict XVI

Did you know that one of the crucial ways all Holy Fathers work for Peace among nations is to maintain diplomatic relations with foreign governments? Currently, the Holy See (the Vatican city-state) has diplomatic relations with 180 of the world’s nations. That is more than any other nation has, including the U.S. Many nations have their embassy office in Rome. Pope Francis’ central theme, at his audience with members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the Holy See, was fraternity as the foundation and pathway to peace. The papal nuncio to the United States is Archbishop Vigano and the U.S. government’s ambassador to the Holy See is Dr. Miguel Diaz.
