Programme of Study

Why choose a Foundation Year?

All full-time Foundation Year students benefit from tuition, accommodation and meals during our academic terms. Fees and term dates are displayed on our website; please contact us for further information.

Foundation Year programmes contain three key elements.

There are a variety of benefits to choosing a Foundation Year. The Foundation Year is specifically designed to prepare students to follow a degree course at a university located in an English-speaking country other than their own, ensuring that they are fully up to speed with the destination’s academic framework. This will enable them to start their degree course with the same academic foundation as their future peers, in some cases even developing an edge over them.

Subject options We can cater of a variety of academic subject choices, including:  Business and Management  Law  Humanities  Engineering  Social Sciences If the subject you are interested in is not on this list, please contact us and we will endeavour to accommodate you.

18

www.oxford-royale.co.uk/isc

 Academic tuition  English as a Foreign Language  Study skills The proportion of study time that the student allocates to each area can be determined according to the individual student’s needs.

EFL is also a vital component of the programme. Almost all universities will have minimum English-language requirements (usually around IELTS 6.0). Achieving these standards is essential for university admission, and exceeding them will ensure that students won’t be struggling to keep up or take notes in lectures delivered in English. Finally, study skills training prepares students for the fresh challenges of university life, including teaching them how to take notes in fast-paced lectures, essay-writing skills from planning to referencing, and other skills such as time management and revision - all of which are vital to success when they enter the next stage of their academic career.
