If this happens, immediately switch the power “OFF”, unplug the power cord. • This unit should NOT be situated in close proximity to water. Such as near bathtubs, sinks, washing machines, swimming pool, sauna etc. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or to extreme temperature, humidity, or changes in temperature. • Do not place near direct heat sources such as radiators, stoves, gas fires, naked flames or candles. Ensure that the unit is placed on a clean, dry and flat surface before operation. • Do not drop unit, apply excessive force to the controls or place heavy objects on top of the unit. • Do not allow excessive levels of dust to gather on the T-2. To clean, unplug the cooled unit, use a soft dry cloth. If necessary, use a damp cloth without any solvents.

• Ensure that the area in which the unit is situated has adequate ventilation. Do not place the T-2 in a position where its ventilation may become obstructed. Avoid placement on beds, sofas, rugs, enclosed bookcases / cabinets and any other area which may cause interference to the ventilation of the product thus causing it to overheat. DO NOT COVER THE TUBE GRILLE COVER. • Ensure that the unit is connected to the correct power supply as indicated on the unit. Unplug the T-2 when not in use for a long period. Always make sure power cables are placed safely and are not obstructing a walkway. • This product can get hot. Do not remove tube grille cover. Do not touch the tubes and keep away from babies and children and pets. • To avoid risk of electric shock, do not attempt to remove the cover or the back of unit. There are no user serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing of internal parts to qualified service personnel. Any unauthorized changes or modifications to this equipment would render the manufacturer's warranty null and void. DO NOT POWER THE AMPLIFIER "ON" UNTIL THE PROTECTIVE TRANSPARENT FILM HAS BEEN CAREFULLY REMOVED FROM AMP BODY AND ALL CONNECTIONS HAVE BEEN PROPERLY MADE PER THE OWNERS MANUAL. REMOVE TUBE COVER WITH SUPPLIED WRENCH AND CAREFULLY REMOVE TRANSAPERENT FILM. UNIT CANNOT BE OPERATED WITHOUT SPEAKERS CONNECTED TO THE REAR PANEL. WARNING Tube electronics use high voltages that can cause injury or death. Dangerous voltages may be stored in capacitors many hours after the unit has been tuned “OFF”. Select voltage on rear panel 115V (US) or 230V. Check that your local mains supply voltage agrees with the setting indicated on the back panel of the amplifier. Always use a quality power surge protector. Always turn OFF the power switches when connecting or disconnecting from mains power. It is recommended that you disconnect the power supply from the mains when the unit is in a protracted period of non-use (holidays, etc) and during initial setup. Refer to the owner's manual of each component that is connected to this unit.

UNPACKING Before unpacking, check if there is any damage to the carton. Place on a flat surface with the arrow upward. Carefully remove your new amplifier and all accessories from its packing carton, and examine it closely for signs of shipping damage. Carefully remove the transparent protective film protecting the mirror finish stainless steel body. Insure that the tubes are correctly inserted in their sockets. Make sure that your amplifier came packed with the following items: - Power supply cord - USB Cable - Toslink Optical w/Mac Plug - Remote Control - Tube Cover Removal Wrench - White Gloves - Safety Instruction

SPEAKER CONNECTION Make sure that all connections between this unit and other components are made correctly, that is to say L (Left) to L, R (Right) to R, + to + and - to Connect using high quality, bare (stripped) speaker wire or banana plugs. Please note that if your speaker wires are not connected properly you may hear no sound or if polarities are reversed, you will hear oddities in the signal path with an unnatural loss of bass frequencies. DO NOT POWER ON UNIT WITHOUT SPEAKERS CONNECTED When connecting speakers, ensure they have an impedance of between 4 & 8 ohms, which are most speakers. Make sure the wire holders are firmly screwed in to prevent wires from becoming loose. If wires touch, the speakers and or the unit could be damaged.

COMPUTER CONNECTION If you plan to use the amplifier with your computer, connect the USB cable supplied with the unit from your computer to the USB input on the back of the amplifier.

POWER CORD Connect the power cord: first be sure to set the "VOLUME" control to the lowest position and the power switch in the “OFF” position. Then connect the power cord into the power socket on the rear panel of the amplifier. Next, connect the other end of the power cord into the outlet. The power outlet, which the amplifier power cord is connected to, must be the 3-pin grounding type. Check again to make sure both speakers are properly connected and the voltage selector switch (located on the bottom of the amplifier if installed on the unit) is properly set before turning power “ON”.

POWER ON Your new amplifier is ready for operation after the speakers, power cord, signal or USB cables have been properly installed. When you are sure the connections are correct, adjust the “VOLUME" to the minimum and push the power button located on the center of the front panel to the “ON” position. Observe that the Blue LED and all vacuum tubes are lit. The slow power up protects you components. The amp will be ready to play in about 15 seconds. NOTICE: The sound quality will be affected by all the elements of the audio chain: recording, recorded medium, source, amplifier, speakers and room. We therefore recommend that you select quality inputs and quality speakers to perform with the neuhaus laboratories T-2 amplifier. COMPUTER AUDIO: USE OF THE WITH USB PORT on the neuhaus laboratories T-2 amp. WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEMS WINDOWS COMPATIBLE When your computer is “ON”, you will find a new USB device in the “Device Manager” (Windows XP): USB Speakers. The amplifier is designed for “Plug & Play" set up and in most cases the audio signal from your computer should play through the amplifier without requiring any additional adjustment. If the audio from your computer cannot be heard through the amplifier and you are using Windows XP, first click on the "speaker" icon at the bottom right corner of your screen and adjust the sound output to the maximum position. If you still cannot hear your computer: go to the Windows “Control Panel” and select "Sounds and Audio Devices" (XP) or "Multimedia" (98SE, ME, 200). Under the "Audio" tab, choose C-Media USB Audio for "Sound Playback”. Your PC sound will now play through your neuhaus laboratories T-2 tube amplifier. The sound level can be adjusted from the “speaker bar” on your computer and should be placed at maximum so main volume is controlled by the T-2 amp.

MAC OPERATING SYSTEMS MAC COMPATIBLE Plug the USB cable into the USB port of your Mac computer. Select “Sound” in System Preferences. Under the “Output” tab, select “C-Media USB Audio”. Your Mac's sound will now play through your neuhaus laboratories T-2 tube amplifier.

TUBE BIASING The neuhaus laboratories T-2 is self-biasing; there is no need to adjust the bias of the tubes. NEVER REMOVE THE TUBES WHILE THE UNIT IS IN OPERATION.

SERVICING The user should not attempt to service this product beyond that described in the operating instructions. All other servicing should be referred to qualified service personnel or neuhaus laboratories.

DAMAGE REQUIRING SERVICE This product should be serviced by qualified service personnel when: - objects have fallen, or liquid has been spilled into the unit; - the component has been exposed to rain or moisture; - the amplifier does not appear to operate normally or exhibits a marked change in performance; - the amplifier has been dropped, or the enclosure damaged; - the unit will not turn “ON” or will not produce sound in one or both channels - there is distortion in the sound reproduction.

TUBES Tubes last a long time. The smaller pre-amp tubes can last anywhere from 10,000 to 100,000 hours. Larger power and driver tubes usually last 5,000 hours. At 2 hours per day use, 5,000 hours = 7 years. The vacuum tubes used on the neuhaus laboratories T-2 amplifier come preinstalled and should provide many years of performance. Check to insure tubes are properly seated. Replacement tubes can be purchased from the neuhaus laboratories website. Tubes MUST be placed in the correct socket. Incorrect placement can damage the tubes and amplifier.
