As a natural refrigerant, R290 has excellent properties, it can be used as an alternative in those applications that use R22,R134a or R404A as refrigerant.

R290 applied in room air conditioners z Appliance & Electronics World Expo 2015, Main Chinese air conditioner makers shown their highly efficiency R290 air conditioners. z After an official purchase agreement at the end of June, 243 new air conditioners using refrigerant R290 settled in their new home at Shenzhen University. Shenzhen is the first city in China to use R290 air conditioners.

3. R290 applied in heat pump water heater ¾ For small‐sized heat pump water heater(e.g. heat pump dishwasher),it could meet the limit of refrigerant capacity 150g by system optimization. ¾ For large scale heat pump water heater system, the water heater system placed indoors and the refrigerant circulation system placed outdoors, thus it could evade the legal limit charge of R290.

The performance of R290 is close to R404A and capacity reduces less at low temperature. In small‐sized refrigerating application, the refrigerant charge can be accord with the legal limit. Different from R600a,there is no sub atmosphere pressure at low evaporation temperature for R290, so it can resist air enter the refrigeration system.
