Welcome! YOU’Re WeLCOMe TO HIKe IN FINLAND! Finland offers a wide range of hiking opportunities. Finland is a country of opposites and contrasts, which you can enjoy with each of your senses. Finland is a clean, quiet country where you can enjoy the feeling of space, the calm of the wilderness and the bustle of the lake districts. BReATHe: your lungs will fill with fresh, clean air. You will enjoy it. TAsTe: the berries and mushrooms of the forests and their fresh taste. The white nights give their own strong aroma to the berries. Finnish food is simple and made from nature’s own raw materials.

Welcome to OutdoorsfFinland.com, an online resource for hikers OutdoorsfFinland.com has been designed for those seeking activity holidays in the wilderness. Whether you prefer to cycle, hike or paddle, the website is the perfect place to visit as it will describe each route and provide factual information on it, such as length, level of difficulty and estimated duration. Every map provides GPS location settings and shows the most important services en route.

There are plenty of new alternatives, destinations and places popular with Finns themselves. We have wanted to highlight small places and little treasures where you will feel that you really are in quintessential Finland, in the countryside, small villages, down by the water, in the shade of forests and in the peace of the wilderness. We have also wanted to highlight new service providers and companies that have been operating on the domestic market, but have the expertise and professional skill to serve international customers too.

Maps You can find all the maps covering Finland from www.karttakauppa.fi. You can also obtain maps for canoeing routes from the local tourism offices, while southern Finland hiking brochures and maps are found at www.OutdoorsfFinland.com.

Trip suggestion: hidden treasures, new areas and products, which we have been mapped, studied and approved. These are well-known routes in Finland that independently-minded hikers have already been hiking along for many years.

Enjoy your hiking trip! sMeLL: the salty scent of the sea, the resin of the pine trees, the sharp bite of autumn in the air. Finland is full of nature’s own smells, clean and fresh.

HeAR: Finland is quiet and calm. In the forest you can hear the knocking of the woodpecker, the singing of the birds, the bustle of the trees. At the lakes you will hear the lapping waves. It’s like a meditation, and is guaranteed to carry you away from everyday routines.

WHAT TO DO In addition to hiking and day trips, the observation of nature offers a huge range of different possibilities. You can observe and admire nature and get acquainted with its dwellers. You can pick mushrooms or berries or wonder at natural phenomena. The saimaa ringed seal The extremely endangered Saimaa ringed seal lives only in Saimaa. The ringed seal was isolated in the Saimaa basin approximately 8,000 years ago, when the connection of the lakes to the Baltic Sea was cut off at the end of the Ice Age. The population is strongly concentrated in central Saimaa, Pihlajavesi and Haukivesi. Photographing and viewing large carnivores The quiet sounds of the wilderness travel far in the misty night, and a tense excitement is in the air. Especially in the eastern borderlands, from North Karelia to Kuusamo, there are many businesses that arrange trips to see large predators. Bears, wolverines (rare even globally), lynx, wolves and foxes are often seen at photographing spots. Bird-watching Liminka and Siikalahti are popular destinations for birdwatchers. In Virolahti the migration of Arctic birds, Arktika, is the most impressive of the local events in the avian world. On an arranged bird-watching trip, you can go deep into old forests to see the mating of grouses, or watch the majestic sea eaglesi nt hear chipelago.                       Download APP: Outdoors Finland
