Funding

Making school trips more accessible for all Despite government commitments to school trips, many children don’t get the chance to take part because parents simply cannot afford it. As a result of this it is believed that up to a third of children miss out on vital learning experiences. Through the Breaks For Kids fund, our partners at YHA help to fund places for financially disadvantaged children so they can join their friends and classmates on our range of residential visits to YHA partner sites. YHA believes that every child has the right to enjoy a trip with their friends and their aim is to do their utmost to ensure that no child is left behind when the coach leaves the school gates. By booking one of our travel-inclusive residential visits to a venue where YHA provide the partner services we can apply for financial assistance on your behalf for any child who may be eligible. More information: Breaks For Kids is a charitable fund, founded and supported by YHA England and Wales. The fund provides financial support to thousands of young people every year. Breaks For Kids can contribute up to 50% of the cost of accommodation and food for young people from low-income households who are taking part in these visits with their school or other youth groups*. Applications for assistance are considered on the basis of the number of children in the group who are entitled to free school meals or whose parents are in receipt of income support or housing benefit*. *Funding assistance is discretionary and subject to availability.
