AT THE DURHAM FOREST ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTRE

JULY 4 THROUGH AUGUST 19, 2016

SEVEN ONE-WEEK SESSIONS, MONDAY TO FRIDAY, 9 A.M. TO 4 P.M. For children ages 7 to 12 (as of December 31, 2015) The Durham Forest Environmental Education Centre is gearing up for another summer full of fun, learning and adventure! Located just south of the town of Uxbridge, this great camp-like facility operated by the Durham District School Board, is a wonderful setting for our 2016 Summer Day Camp program. Seven weeks of outdoor and experiential learning will keep the centre buzzing with activities designed to inspire, educate and reconnect your child to the world around them. All programs in our week-long sessions will emphasize appreciation for the natural world, environmental awareness, cooperative learning, leadership development and fun. Each session will include a Thursday evening sleepover allowing campers a chance to experience the magic of Durham Forest at night. The night hike and evening campfire will be a special finale to a week filled with adventure and new friends.

WEEK ONE JULY 4 TO JULY 8, 2016 SENIOR SURVIVOR CAMP (For children ages 9 to 12) Senior Survivor Camp is a week filled with action and fun where campers can learn basic survival skills that will help them in the wild. These skills include making a fire, shelters, orienteering, first aid and more.

WEEK TWO JULY 11 TO 15, 2016 ART ATTACK This week is all about getting creative out in the forest! Crafts, games and activities surrounding the arts will be the focus, with lots of emphasis on the natural world.

WEEK THREE JULY 18 TO 22, 2016 ANIMAL PLANET The focus this week is all about—you guessed it—animals! From furry friends to creepy critters, campers will be learning all about the living things that we share the forest with.

WEEK FOUR JULY 25 TO 29, 2016 FOR THE LOVE OF SCIENCE During this week, campers will have a chance to investigate the forest as scientists. Flip over logs, explore natural science, ask questions and discover through experimentation.

WEEK FIVE AUGUST 2 TO 5, 2016 JUNIOR SURVIVOR CAMP (For children ages 7 to 10) Please note: this is a four day week, there will be no camp on August 1, 2016. This short week will teach campers the basic skills of forest survival, while leaving room for tons of fun!

WEEK SIX AUGUST 8 TO 12, 2016 AROUND THE WORLD WITH THE OLYMPICS Travel the world in five days! Experiencing other countries, cultures, and customs will have these little explorers prepared for the Durham Forest Olympic Challenge at the end of the week.

WEEK SEVEN AUGUST 15 TO 19, 2016 SENIOR SURVIVOR CAMP (For children ages 9 to 12) Senior Survivor Camp is a week filled with action and fun where campers can learn basic survival skills that will help them in the wild. These skills include making a fire, shelters, orienteering, first aid and more.
