From the President Greeting and Salutations Class of 2012, It’s pretty unbelievable that we have to think of ourselves as alums now, isn’t it? Walking into BakerBerry, ordering EBAs, watching the rugby team win a national championship – all things we can no longer do as students of Dartmouth. Talk about hard to believe. We have, as our alma mater predicted, gone on to roam ‘round the girdled earth (hey New York), but it’s my sincere hope that we’ll be able to maintain our class’ unity in the mould of so many generations of Dartmouth alumni that have come before us. To that end, the Executive Committee of the Class of 2012 will be here to make sure each one of us can continue our connection with the College and with one another. In addition to our Class Newsletter (how meta), your mini-reunion chairs, project chairs, and web team will try to continue fostering those bonds we’ve made. We might be done at Dartmouth, but that doesn’t mean we’re done with Dartmouth. Please feel free to contact me or any of the EC members with comments, questions, or anything you might like to talk about – we’re here to help you. Again, Class of 2012, it’s been a real privilege. I hope that I, along with the rest of the EC, will be able to serve you in the coming years, and that your connection with the College remains as steadfast as it can. Thanks for a great four years, and here’s to many more. Greg Knight Executive Committee President

In Memoriam Stephanie Pignatiello 1990—2012

Stephanie Anne Pignatiello was born on December 2, 1990 in Asheville, NC, and lived there and in Wichita, KS before attending the College. While at Dartmouth, she double-majored in linguistics and psychology, with a minor in Chinese, and was a member of Phi Tau Coeducational Fraternity. Pignatiello graduated from Dartmouth cum laude this June. Among other places in the Hanover area, she worked at Wheelock Books, where she was training to take over as store manager in the fall. Pignatiello was found dead in her off-campus Hanover apartment on July 26. She was 21.

Initial Remembrances “Stephanie always took pleasure in being outdoors. In the evenings she loved to go for walks around Occom Pond, and she’s the one who first took me to the beautiful Mink Brook trail, a place I’ve returned many times since. Towards the end of spring term, we spent a lovely evening at a BBQ and bonfire near campus. Stephanie had so much fun riding around on the tractor collecting logs, and skipping around the woods in bare feet regardless of thorns and splinters. She threw an old dried up Christmas tree on the fire and it blazed up in a sudden burst of light. I hope I never forget the look of joy on her face at that moment.” —Leah Nicolich-Henkin

for the house: She was so extremely welcoming, eager to participate, and encouraging of different views and cultures. I truly cherish and think so highly of both that to me they will always be inseparable.” —Cindy Juarez

“It was my distinct honor and privilege to work with Stephanie Pignatiello. She was on her way to becoming one of the best managers/entrepreneurs I have seen come through the store, and I have seen quite a few in 20 years. It will be an immeasurable difficulty for me when I see the first student dressed in a full length wool cape this fall or winter, or the next time this summer I see a student walk by in a wide-brimmed black hat, as “When Stephanie loved something, everyone knew it. these were symbols of the theatrical flair in Stephanie’s She couldn’t help but share her love with others, wheth- wardrobe which I could rely upon to mark the seaer about Phi Tau, baking, science, linguistics, or fan- sons. From the Treasurer Hey ’12s! First off, congratulations on your graduation. It is my job to introduce to you our class dues. Each year we ask that each member of the class of 2012 contribute to our class treasury. This money solely and directly benefits our class, and does not go towards the College or the Dartmouth College Fund. This distinction is vital. What exactly do your class dues go towards? Each year, mini-reunions will be held across the country. Dues will pay for drinks, food, entertainment, and/or the venue. Dues also go towards these class newsletters, may be used to fund projects sponsored by the class, and will help establish a financial base to be used for our reunions in the future. I’ve been honored with the exhilarating job of asking you for your money, so how about you do your job and chip in? They say other people go to college for four years, but we go to Dartmouth for life. So, keep your Dartmouth life going and donate to the class. Because it’s almost like donating to charity ... almost. Keep an eye on your mail for a letter from me with an easy way to give dues, which are just $35 this year. Thanks, Chris Jenny Class of 2012 Treasurer
