Our Lady of Lourdes Summer Reading Assignment Grade 9 Regents

English 9 Regents students will read one self-selected book. For the self-selected book, students may take the opportunity to read a novel that seems interesting and has literary merit (must be age and grade level appropriate). This work must have parental approval. A work which is deemed inappropriate will not be accepted. This work may be fiction or non-fiction (such as a biography or autobiography). If a student does not have an idea for a book that he or she would like to read, a list of suggested novels has been provided. Students are encouraged to keep a log, or journal, as they read to keep track of important characters, details, themes, ideas, etc. Students will be assessed on the books in the beginning of the school year at teacher discretion, and their writing will help them to recall their novels for those assessments.
