Our Identity Magnificat High School, a girls’ Catholic college-preparatory high school, founded and sponsored by the Sisters of the Humility of Mary, calls young women to live Mary’s Magnificat in the world.

Our Mission We educate young women holistically to learn, lead and serve in the spirit of Mary’s Magnificat.

Dear Alumnae, Parents and Friends, A snapshot of the Magnificat Community on any given day is one full of life! An exuberant student crowd in the Commons stopping at every lunch mod each day to pray together before eating; The Senior class, in dress uniform, at a Healing Mass at St. Joseph’s in Avon for a classmate facing a challenging diagnosis; “Bigs” and “Littles” cheering each other on in the fields and in the PAC for the launch of Night-in-Blue season; Proud and humbled young women gifting slippers to every child at Villa Montessori for whom the simple offering of clothing was a valuable treasure and tangible sign of love; Ziplining through a forest in Costa Rica, haggling in the markets of Dubai, running to classes in Grenoble and Barcelona, greeting a new classmate from Kosovo; Plotting, practicing, planning and executing, whether on the field, pitch, court, course, track or pool – and learning to love and support one another win, lose or draw; Skyping with peers around the world, engaging in field experiments via video distance learning, visiting NASA, hanging theatre lights, shaping clay vessels, creating new works of art and jewelry, dancing as prayer; Sharing beans and rice in Ecuador and Immokalee, or macaroni in inner city Cleveland, understanding – by living it -- that social justice is not a concept but a call from God to make the world a fair and equitable community for all. This is life at Magnificat…life that would not be possible without the consistent, enduring, generous support of each of you. No gift is too small to have made possible all of the above and so much more. Our girls may never be able to thank each of you whose name is inscribed in this booklet, but all of us – from our students, volunteers, faculty, staff, administration, aides, partners and the Sisters of the Humility of Mary -- honor and thank you daily, for we know that without you, there would be no Magnificat. Sister Bernadette Vetter Society Sister Bernadette’s leadership and vision guided the formation of the Magnificat spirit and many of its traditions. From Night-in-Blue to minding the Bookstore, your helping hands are an invaluable gift to Magnificat, with short- and long-term opportunities available throughout the year.

Connect with new Alumnae Chapters being formed throughout the country, join the Mothers’ or Fathers’ Clubs, attend an Advent or Lenten retreat.

The Annual Endowment Gala and Night-in-Blue offer a wide range of support options attractive and beneficial to small businesses and established corporations alike.

There are many ways to give to Magnificat for both immediate and future needs:

Annual Fund – This is our most important source of operating support and is critical to our academic and spiritual mission. Gifts by cash, check or credit card, and donations of stock or other asset are welcome. Your Annual Fund gift can also be utilized to honor or memorialize a loved one.



Bequest -- A gift specified in one’s will or estate plan is not subject to federal, estate, or local inheritance taxes, and the value of the bequest is deductible in determining the taxable estate.



Life Insurance – You may donate a paid-up policy no longer needed, gift a policy that is not fully paid-up and take a deduction for the present value of the policy, or make Magnificat the owner and beneficiary of a new policy. Ongoing premium payments qualify as charitable deductions.



Institutional Endowment -- A gift to the general endowment of Magnificat is an excellent way to ensure its success in perpetuity.



Named Endowed Scholarship – With a gift as low as $10,000 (payable over four years) you can support the tuition need of a deserving student each year, in perpetuity, while honoring an individual, family, or other designated party.



Matching Gifts – Many companies are happy to match the charitable contributions of their employees – check with yours. And please let us know if your company has a foundation or grants program.



Planned Gifts – A life income gift (Charitable Remainder Trust) or an assignment of trust income gift (Charitable Lead Trust) can benefit both your family and Magnificat in the short-term and long-term. These and other complex planned gifts with tax and income advantages should be arranged between you, Magnificat, and your financial and legal advisors to ensure a giving arrangement that is tailored to your personal requirements.
