Our Event Spaces & Pricing The winery offers several venue choices for your celebration. Events can be held in The Tavern Room, The Tasting Room, The Chanticleer Loft, Terrace Gardens, The Winery or on The Crush Pad. For a truly unique experience, a rustic dinner in the vineyard will make your celebration unforgettable.

The Tavern Room

The Tavern Room, with its beautiful garden view, can easily accommodate smaller meetings and gatherings of up to 30 people. This room, with its rustic flooring and doors opening to our slate patio and Terrace Garden, is perfect for smaller events such as showers, wine tastings and corporate gatherings.

The Tasting Room

The rustic beauty of our newly renovated Tasting Room will accommodate a gathering of friends and family of up to 40 people for wine tastings, cocktail-style parties, and casual get-togethers.

The Chanticleer Loft

Weddings, receptions and larger events may be held in the classic French country ambiance of the Chanticleer Loft with exposed beams, vaulted ceiling and views of the vineyard. Up to 150 people can be accommodated at a seated dinner in this venue. Bistro lighting strung above the dance floor enhances the romantic feel.

The Terrace Gardens

Planted in the Normandy-garden style, the Terrace Gardens include our slate patio and front lawn. This location will accommodate weddings and other outdoor events for up to 150 people. In the evening breathtaking sunset views will make your event unforgettable. This space can be tented in the event of inclement weather (but is not included in the rental fee).

The Crush Pad

Our covered crush pad is the ultimate spot for enjoying a casual evening of dancing under the stars or a formal reception and dinner at our farm table under three massive chandeliers. A cocktail party for 50, a ceremony for 80 or a seated dinner party for 40 can enjoy the view of our newest vineyard. Note: The Crush Pad is not available August through October due to harvest.

The Winery

For a truly unique experience consider The Winery for your special occasion. Hold your reception, corporate gathering, or dinner in the building in which the wine is made. Allow our Winemaker and Vineyard Manager to speak to your group about the processes used to create our award-winning wines. This venue is ideal for wine and food pairing stations, a seated dinner at our farm table or a reception. Note: The Winery is kept at a cool temperature and is not available August through October due to harvest.

The Vineyard

Nothing is more intimate for you and your guests than dinner in The Vineyard. Whiteglove service at our farm table for up to 28 of your closest family and friends will be an experience that you will always remember. Note: The Vineyard ground can be wet, soft and uneven and is not available August through October due to harvest. Any of these venues may be combined to accommodate your event needs and to create the most memorable experience you can imagine. Whether you envision a celebration that’s traditional or trend-setting, festive or formal, intimate or grand scale, let First Colony Winery be your host.

Frequently Asked Questions What is included for special events? Space, tables, chairs and one First Colony Winery employee for the event. All food and beverage service is coordinated through your caterer. Linen, dinnerware and glasses are not included. Wine can be purchased ahead of time for a 20% discount on any quantity.

If my event is outdoors, what happens if there is inclement weather? It is your responsibility to either rent the Chanticleer Loft as a back-up location or make arrangements to have the space tented. We will be happy to refer you to a company that can provide appropriate tents.

Is wine included for private events? Wine is not included in the cost of your private event, but can be purchased for a 20% discount for any quantity prior to your event.

Do you have a bridal suite? Yes, we have a newly renovated bridal suite which is available at no additional charge to the bride and the bridal party prior to the wedding. Overlooking the interior of the winery building, it has a bathroom, mirrored vanity and space for getting ready for your special day!

Do you have a kitchen? We do have a kitchen with ample space for your caterer.

Can we decorate and if so, when can we decorate and set up for the event? Yes, you may decorate for your event but nothing may be attached to the walls, building or thatched roof. Decorating and set up of the Chanticleer Loft (upstairs event space) may begin at 10:30 am on the day of the event. All other rooms may be decorated after 5:00 pm on the day of the event.

Do you have any noise restrictions? All outdoor amplified music must end by 10:00 pm. There is no restriction for indoor music. Bands and DJs are welcome.

Do you have ample parking? Our parking lot is large enough to accommodate not only your wedding guests’ vehicles but fullsized buses as well.

What if I have a small group and we would just like to visit? We require that parties of 10 or more call or email and place pre-paid reservations ($7/per person). We wish to provide your group with the most positive First Colony experience; and in order

to do so, we must be properly staffed and have enough space to accommodate your group.

What time can I have my wedding? Our pricing guidelines are based on a 6:00 pm to midnight timeframe. We are open to the public until 6:00 pm. Exceptions can be made, but there may be additional charges applied. Please see our pricing guidelines for the cost of closing the winery to the public.

How many chairs and tables do you have? Are there separate chairs for the ceremony? We have 150 chairs. Many people use the chairs for the ceremony and then have the caterers move the chairs for the reception. If you prefer not to do this, many companies have similar chairs available to rent.

When can I set up and who is responsible for set up? You can set up the Chanticleer Loft the morning of your event. You can also set up any outdoor decorations that do not interfere with our tasting room business the morning of the event. The only room that cannot be set up early is the tasting room itself. Often, you

can even set up the Loft the night before if there is no other event booked. We try to be flexible with your plans, so please ask and we will work with you. Set up itself is generally done by the wedding party or the catering staff. First Colony staff members are not responsible for set up. If you need to drop off any rentals in the days leading up to the event, please ask us and we can usually find a place to store them.

Where do most people have their ceremonies? Is there an additional fee to host the ceremony at First Colony? Many people have chosen to have their ceremonies at First Colony. The most popular place is the Terrace Gardens. This area can accommodate about 150 people seated. We have also done ceremonies in the vineyard and on the lawn facing the vineyard. If you have an idea of what you would like to do, please ask! We are always open to working with you to create your ideal wedding ceremony. There is no additional fee to have the ceremony as long as it is within the standard timeframe guidelines and your reception is hosted at First Colony Winery.

Will I be able to have a rehearsal the night before? You are welcome to have a ceremony rehearsal the day before the wedding. We prefer you do it within our business hours if possible. If you would like to hold your rehearsal after hours, there may be an additional fee required.

Can I bring in outside alcohol? We require you serve First Colony wines at your event. We do allow you to bring in sparkling wine for your toast, although many people have chosen to use our dessert wines for toasting. Outside beer and liquor is allowed as long as you or your caterer has the proper ABC license. If your caterer does not have an ABC license, a one day banquet license can be obtained online for a small fee.

General Frequently Asked Questions How much does it cost to tour and taste? Tastings are $7.00, and the tasting fees are waived with the purchase of three or more bottles. Our Riedel logo wine glass is not included in the tasting fee but can be purchased for $8.
