FUNDAMENTAL HOUSE FALL 2013

All architecture can be reduced to its simplest elements: planes, corners, and openings. When these components come together, they create a variety of spaces with different, valid qualities. Sited in an arbitrary location, the fundamental house is a combination of these reduced parts. Each volume is specific to its programmatic function, thereby becoming its own autonomous space. These spaces are connected by an enclosed circulation path that is illuminated by lightwells. Divided between private and public functions along the east-west axis, the east side contains the private functions that receive the morning sunrise while the west side of the house contains the public functions that foster interaction and socializing.
