Ecological construction and sustainable building materials We have 30 years of experience in all facets of the construction process Our construction division covers all crafts. We always plan the projects in close collaboration with the client or his advisor, whether they are professional or turn-key contracts. We have specialized in construction of : housing arrangements, collectives, olde-kolle'r (housing cooperatives for old people) and multi-generational communities and participation in creating the right conditions for it. We recommend and use the least environmentally damaging construction methods and materials chosen to take the utmost care of the environment in the manufacture, use and disposal.  By choosing natural friendly materials we achieve not only a good environment and indoor climate, but also a good long-term economy. In addition to that, these materials is also good for the socio-economics: less CO2 and less pollution in the manufacturing and disposal.

Flax - alternative insulation The new building regulations make increased demands on indoor air quality and insulation. •Isolation with flax makes it possible to build without a vapor barrier, so moisture can pass through external walls and thereby ensure a better indoor climate. While minimizing the risk of moisture damage. •The characteristic itching, which is known from mineral products does not exist in FLAX insulation and therefore it is much more pleasant and not at all harmful to work with. •EVD is co-owner of the company Fiber Tech in Sakskøbing producing FLAX insulaition with the same measurements, and the same insulating power as traditional insulation. Flax insulation can be used in most types of building construction. It has no dangerous fibers and can be compost.

The best indoor air quality is achieved with bricks Since 1998, EVD has produced unfired bricks. The stones are made of moraine clay as with a pressure of 40 ton pressed to the same form as ordinary bricks. Unfired bricks are especially suited to indoor masonry and has a number of advantages over traditional burnt bricks: The bricks weigh a half time more than ordinary bricks and the gravity improves the walls soundproofing capability. The heavy wall also means that the indoor environment becomes more stable, since heat and moisture absorbing and releasing more even than in all other building materials. The bricks ability of heat storage is ideal for a fireplace or the construction of a heater, which can further be very decorative in any room. Energy use for production of unfired bricks is 1 / 7 of the energy used for production of burnt bricks and CO2 emission is reduced quite considerably.

Get a healthy indoor environment with natural paint Over the last 20 years EVD has worked to develop

environmentally friendly linseed oil emulsion paint - also called natural paints. EVD is now selling natural white paint over the Internet to individuals and businesses. Natural Paint covers extremely well and is very suitable for walls and ceilings. Natural Paint is free from degasification substances and is also "diffusion open", which means that water vapor can move back and forth through the paint. Thus providing the best possible indoor climate. Tinted paints and more specialized products can be acquired by contacting EVD.

Linseed oil-painted doors and windows in very good heartwood Under the name “The EVD window” the company manufactures doors and windows of the heartwood from slow-growing pine from Lapland. The trees are 100-150 years old and has a heartwood share of 85-100%. The end of the tree with the largest heartwood share is used to bolt and bottom of the window that is most exposed to the rot. The windows are not impregnated with toxic impregnation fluids, but spray painted 3 times with linseed oil paint. Linseed oil is thin and penetrates into the wood. Linseed oil dries by oxidation and drying extends linseed oil, and closes the pores of the wood, which is thus closed for moisture intrusion. This technology gives the windows a very long durability and minimal maintenance frequency as known from the old days when production was handmade. Only after 10 - 15 years the wood must be painted again. EVD provides 25 year warranty on the windows. The windows are made according to individual measurements, and in all models with low energy windows, or other special glasses.

An eco-village on Sealand The dwelling groups have different types of ownership - privately owned as single family houses, a cooperative association dwelling groups are by Roskilde Building Association and these houses are for rent. One of the three dwelling groups is only for young people, one is only for seniors, and one is open for all age groups
