Why is it good to use a GPS?



Should you always trust what machines tell you to do?

During Listening Questions Read the questions and the alternatives before you listen to the story. Make sure you understand all the words. There is only one correct answer to the questions. After listening Match the pictures with the texts A. Cut out the pictures below. Also cut out the boxes with the texts. Match the picture with the correct text and put them in the correct order so the story gets complete. B. You can also cut out just the texts and put them in the right order.

I got surprised. Where were the voice coming from? When dad made fun of the donkey the voice got angry.

“Your parents can’t hear me Anna”, the voice said. I cried for dad. He got angry and told med to be quiet, he needed to concentrate on the road.

A bus drove past us, going downhill. The narrow road made so that the bus drove really close. The voice laughed.

Dad was driving. Mum likes to drive too but she had broken her arm so she couldn’t.

The GPS told dad to follow the road and then turn right. I heard a voice ask if we were ready for the mountains.

”Give your dad some peace to concentrate!” My parents was angry with me. At the same time the voice told my dad to go straight ahead. I had to turn the GPS off!

Dad stamped his foot on the break and turned the wheels. The car stopped. “Look at that view! Isn’t it beautiful?” my mum said

We had rented a car to drive around the mountains in Cyprus.

I told my parents that the GPS was angry but they thought I was joking. I got angry and just sat there with my arms crossed.

I was looking out my window. We were starting to go uphill. I could see that the ground was a long way down.

Asking for directions 1. There are some words and expressions that you need to know when you ask for directions in English. Pair the Swedish words and expressions with the correct English ones.

3. When you feel like you know this, it’s time to write a story. You just saw a thief taking an old lady’s handbag. You call the police straight away. Tell them what the thief looks like and give them directions to where you are and where the thief ran off to.
