On Friday August 28, at JerseyFest 2015, Badger Air-Brush Co. and Black Heart Models are teaming up for our fourth model-finishing class at JerseyFest. The class is suitable for folks of all levels of experience and talent in modeling, painting and airbrushing. The class will run from 10am to 4pm, and will be limited to sixteen ONLY TWELVE participants. Less is more! The class will again feature Badger AirBrush Co. products (an airbrush model that has not been previously used at JFest; a low noise compressor; and Badger’s Minitaire paint); Black Heart’s 1:1 scale Boris Karloff Mummy wall-hanger sculpted by Mike Falcigno; and other model finishing supplies. The Mummy wall-hanger has been resurrected for a limited time.
Headlining the JerseyFest class again this year is AFM writer and artist Steve Parke, one of the top painters in the hobby. We will provide six hours of air-brushing and model finishing instruction and will demonstrate a number of painting and finishing tips and techniques during the class: color theory, washes, dry-brushing, pastels, and more. Assisting Steve will be Black Heart owner George Stephenson. The class offers two options: Option A= $350 (Badger airbrush, paint, compressor; Black Heart Mummy bust; finishing supplies; 6 hours of finishing instruction). Option B = $300 (everything in Option A except Badger’s compressor; we will provide compressors for use class).

Son of Monsterpalooza 2015 We regret to inform you that Black Heart and Badger will not host a painting class at Son of Monsterpalooza in Burbank, California in September 18. We will host a class at Monsterpalooza 2016 next spring. Stay tuned.

New Releases Caracolilla At the Badger/Black Heart airbrushing and model finishing class at WonderFest 2015, we debuted our first bust in a new line of smaller scale busts. Measuring 8 inches tall (approximately 1:3 scale) is Caracolilla sculpted by digital visual effects artist Abner Marin. Caracolilla retails for $165 plus $25 U.S. shipping and handling.
In August, we will release a new larger version of the bust. The new bust will be 1:2 scale and will measure 12 inches tall. The only difference between the two Caracolilla busts is the size.

The Thing (1982) Our 1:1 scale Thing wall-hanger was sculpted by creature effects artist Danny Wagner and is available for $260 plus $25 US shipping and handling. And, check out John Allred’s The Thing painting article by pro GK artist John Allred on our T & A page.
Godzilla Our 1:1 scale Godzilla (GMK) bust sculpted by Shane Foulkes is available now. It stands just under 18 inches tall and is the size of the suit worn in the film. The kit is available for $400 plus $35 US shipping and handling.

Dracula At long last, our 1:1 scale 360° Series Bela Lugosi Dracula bust, sculpted by Jeff Yagher and licensed by Lugosi Enterprises, will start shipping in early September. We are producing a limited edition of the painted bust and even fewer (only 60) of the unpainted busts. We are very happy to report that the painted bust will be distributed by our friends at Sideshow Collectibles and will sell for $599 plus $25 U.S. shipping and handling. The unpainted busts will only be available through Black Heart and Black Heart dealers and retails for $299 plus $25 U.S. shipping and handling. For a few lucky folks, we have already received a couple of dozen of the unpainted castings (absolutely gorgeous!).

2016 Sneak Preview Our next 1:1 scale bust is a bust of Count Orlok from the 1922 silent classic, Nosferatu. Sculpted by Jeff Yagher, our Nosferatu will be produced as a limited edition painted bust. It will also be available as an even more limited edition unpainted kit. Undecided whether this will also be a wall-hanger.
