OPERATIONS FORUM

A conference for those responsible for the safe and efficient operation of scrap recycling facilities.

2016 OPERATIONS FORUM The Operations Forum includes programs to help your company design, maintain, and operate a more efficient facility. In addition, sales representatives from various industry-related companies will be available in the tabletop exhibition are to discuss their product lines. Tour of Area Scrap Recycling Facilities ISRI Operations Forum includes yard tours at Grossman Iron & Steel Co. The shredder tour will take place on September 9, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. The yard operations & maintenance tour will take place on September 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Hands-On Analyzer Training Using handheld analyzers is not simply a “point and shoot” affair. Understanding how to load libraries, clean samples, and properly read results are crucial if an accurate determination is to be made. In this hands-on training session, spanning a full day, participants will have the opportunity to use several types of analyzers and understand the pros and cons of each one. Prior to the training session, participants will hear from experts on how to use “traditional” methods of metals identification—magnet tests, spark tests, and other techniques in a classroom training environment.

Education Tracks and Certificate of Completion The ISRI Operations Forum is a mini-convention that allows you to arrange an educational program that best meets your needs. You may attend any of the sessions, although we recommend that you follow specific tracks focusing on a particular subject. Shredder Operations – This track is for individuals that maintain or operate shredders. The track will comprehensively explore various facets of shredder maintenance and operations. From understanding the proper way to maintain hammers to learning about new shredder configurations, this track will help participants understand the ins and outs of shredder operation and maintenance. Yard Operations – This track is for individuals responsible for the maintenance of equipment commonly found to be operating in a scrap recycling facility. The track will explore many of issues and items yard maintenance professionals come into contact with every day. Whether it’s learning how to keep a conveyor properly maintained or understanding the basics of grapple and magnet maintenance, this track has everything these professionals need. Materials ID - Learning how to properly identify and sort metals is a daunting but extremely important challenge. This track will give individuals responsible for sorting materials a background on the fundamentals of doing this job. Whether its understanding the proper use of a magnet, or learning how to use a $30,000 hand held analyzer, this track will combine classroom and hands on training to teach the best way to utilize these methods. A General Operations Certificate will be provided to individuals at the end of the program. Participants may earn a General Operations Certificate provided they attend sessions in all available time segments. Refer to ISRI.org/OpsForum for information on speakers and session updates.
