IMPORTANT INFORMATION SAFETY NOTES Before installing the DVR Manager for KATHREIN receivers, refer to the safety instructions for your KATHREIN receiver.

GENERAL NOTICE KATHREIN cannot be held liable for damage, loss of data or consequential loss of any kind (e.g. loss of profit, interruption of production, loss of data and information, or other detriment to assets) resulting from the use or non-usability of this KATHREIN product, even where KATHREIN has advised of the possibility of such loss occurring.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS The operating system of your PC must be Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Vista (only the 32-bit version) and the PC/laptop/server must have a free network or USB port available.

REQUIRED SOFTWARE “DVR Manager” version 2.0.0.3 released 15.01.2009 (application and instructions in PDF format can be downloaded from “http://www.kathrein.de”. You will find the software under “Service” → “Software und Downloads” → “Receivers” → “UFS 922” → Software and Firmware)

CROSSOVER NETWORK CABLE A crossover network cable is required for direct connection of your PC to the UFS 922.

STANDARD INSTALLATION 1. Double-click the “Setup.exe” file to start the installation routine. 2. Select the desired language and confirm by clicking the “OK” button.

3. Click to select the receiver model being used. The receivers marked with a checkbox are set up. Click on the “Next” button.

4. Click the “Install” button. The software is installed on your PC.

5. The software has been installed on your PC. Once this display has disappeared, installation has been completed. (You will not receive a completion message).

USING THE DVR MANAGER WITH THE UFS 922 The PVR Manager offers many options for uploading and downloading between your receiver and your PC/laptop using a network connection. The detailed instructions on these operations assume that the PVR Manager has been correctly installed as described under “Standard Installation”.



to start it up. 1. Switch on the receiver at its power switch and press 2. Start the DVR Manager (by clicking the icon on “Desktop” or “Start” - “Programmes” - “Kathrein” “DVR Manager” - “UFS 922”). The following display appears:

During “Off Line” operation, the DVR Manager is opened without a connection to the receiver. It is then not possible to exchange data between the receiver and a PC/laptop .

3. First enter the IP address assigned to your receiver. The factory setting for the PINCODE to be entered is “0000”. You can control the assigned IP address in the receiver menu “Ethernet settings” (see example below).

4. Click the button “Connect”.

The DVR Manager offers you the following facilities: Channel: Channel List management (download/upload from/to the receiver, move/delete/rename channels, create and manage favorites lists) Upgrade: Load new software to the receiver via the PC/laptop

USING THE DVR MANAGER WITH THE UFS 922 CHANNEL LIST Click on the “Channel” button. The following display appears:

Click the “Radio” button to switch between the radio and TV channels. You now have the following options:

OPEN You can use this function to open a channel list stored on your PC or laptop. You can download the latest channel list for your UFS 922 from the Internet at: http://www.kathrein.de (Service → Software and Download → Receiver → UFS 922 → Software and Firmware) You can edit it as you wish, and then transfer it to the UFS 922 as under “Send to DVR”. This has the advantage that changing and sorting the channel list is much easier and quicker than doing it directly on the receiver using the remote control.

SAVE/SAVE AS You can use these functions to save a channel list, edited according to your needs for example, to your PC or laptop. You can then open the channel list at any time, edit it and download it to your UFS 922 as described under “Send to DVR”. When you choose “Save” (available only if the channel list was previously saved on the PC) the system default storage location/file path is used; when you choose “Save As” you can specify the storage location/ file path yourself.

USING THE DVR MANAGER WITH THE UFS 922 LOAD FROM DVR You can use this function to upload the channel list currently in use on the UFS 922 to this view and then edit it according to your needs (rearrange, sort, create favorites, etc.). Click on the “Load from DVR” button. The on-screen progress bar indicates the current status of the transfer. As soon as the progress bar disappears, the transmission is complete (the receiver display shows “Download done”). The following display appears (example):

Click on a channel (the channel will show a blue background) and then click on it with the right mouse button. You will see the display shown below.

- Start Numbering: This is performed automatically by the DVR Manager after a channel has been moved

USING THE DVR MANAGER WITH THE UFS 922 - Move to: Enter the position (channel number) where you want the channel to move to - Renumbering: The channels are renumbered in their current sort order - Add to “selected favorites list”: The channel will be added to the previously selected TV favorites list - Add to All Favorite(s): The channel is added to all favorite lists of the selected favorites bank (TV/Radio) - Delete From All Favorite(s): The channel is deleted from all favorite lists of the selected favorites bank (TV/Radio) - Add Empty Channel: A new channel (Empty Channel) is inserted in the channel list in front of the selected position - Edit Channel: Channel data can be entered/edited - Delete Channel(s): The channel is deleted from the channel list - Lock Channel(s): Channel is locked (PIN check for access on receiver) - Unlock Channel(s): Channel is unlocked - Skip Channel(s): Channel is skipped during “zapping” - Free Channel(s): Channel is no longer skipped during “zapping” All these changes only take effect once the channel has been downloaded to the receiver again by the “Send to DVR” command.

SEND TO DVR You can use this function to download the current displayed channel list to the UFS 922. Click on the “Send to DVR” button. The on-screen progress bar indicates the current status of the transfer. As soon as the progress bar disappears, transmission is complete (the receiver display reads “Upload done”).

SAT/TP (EDIT SATELLITE & TRANSPONDER) You can use this function to enter a new satellite and/or transponder. To do so, click on the “Sat/TP” button. The following display appears (example):

Enter the data for the new satellite (upper section of display)/transponder (lower section of display) here and then click “Save”. The new data is added to the existing satellite/transponder list.

USING THE DVR MANAGER WITH THE UFS 922 RENAMING/DELETING FAVORITES To perform this in the current channel list on the UFS 922, you must first upload it (“Load from DVR”) from the receiver to the “Edit Channel” screen. To do this in a channel list stored on hard disk, you must first choose “Open” to download it from the hard disk to the “Edit Channel” screen. First click on “TV Favorites” or “Radio Favorites” to select whether you want to create a new favorites list for radio or TV. Then click on the favorites list you wish to edit. Now press the right mouse button. Select the desired function by clicking on it. Rename: Now use the keyboard to input the desired name. How to add channels to a favorites list is detailed under “Add to Favorite”. Delete: All channels are deleted from the selected favorites list and the favorites list is shown with the name “- free -”. How to add channels to a favorites list is detailed under “Add to favorites”. Favorites lists can be renamed as described above.

ADD TO FAVORITE You can use this function to add one or more previously selected channels to the desired favorites list. First click on the favorites list into which you wish to insert a channel. Then click on the desired channel. Now click on “Add to Favorite” OR: Click on the channel you want to add and hold the mouse button down. Now drag the channel with the mouse on to the favorites list to which you wish to add it. You can also select multiple channels to add by holding down the Ctrl key while selecting (see example screenshot).

RENUMBERING This function is not currently required, since the current version of the DVR Manager automatically renumbers the channels into the new sequence after one has been moved.

DELETE You can use this function to delete selected data (channels, favorite lists etc.).

USING THE DVR MANAGER WITH THE UFS 922 RADIO You can use this function to switch between the TV and radio channel listings.

UPGRADE (UPDATE THE RECEIVER’S OPERATING SOFTWARE) You can use this function to download the software directly from your PC to the UFS 922. You can download the latest software for your receiver from the Internet at: http://www.kathrein.de (Service → Software and Download → Receiver → UFS 922 → Software and Firmware) The advantage of this is that transferring the software from the PC to the receiver is faster than downloading from the satellite. Click on the “Upgrade” button. The following display appears:

Click the “...” option to select the software to download. When you have selected the software, click “Start”. The receiver will now receive the new software.
