In 2011, where will every dollar given to Long Hollow go?

o G

One purpose. One year. One budget.

Dear Church Family, Long Hollow’s heart beats for people… those across the street and those in other parts of the world. Long Hollow’s heartbeat is being felt in neighboring communities and distant places such as New York City, Haiti, and Uganda, to name a few. These are truly amazing days at Long Hollow! Life change is happening all around us. Your gifts to the ministries at Long Hollow are making a difference today that will pay eternal dividends! Here are a few stories you might not have heard: • In 2007, Jeff and Nancy adopted Eliza from Vietnam. They never imagined how God would work through that experience to call them to move to Vietnam and begin ministering to the deaf community there. Within the next few months, they will relocate to Vietnam because God’s love is compelling them to step outside their comfort zone. • The stories of life change within Matthew’s small group are amazing. One couple made a profession of faith and asked Christ to become Lord of their lives. Another member, who was saved several years ago, decided to make her decision public through baptism. Another member, who grew up in another denomination, found her church home at Long Hollow and found community in the small group. Matthew had the privilege of baptizing all four of these people at this year’s Thanksgiving service. • J.D. wrote to tell us about his struggle with addiction that eventually led him to attempt suicide: “My testimony is simple! Jesus Christ is Lord of my life. He rescued me and carried me out of the pits of depression, loneliness, selfishness and addiction. He saved me from a suicide attempt. Today, I am His disciple eager for knowledge and the truth.” • Tony was new to middle Tennessee. He didn’t attend church regularly and didn’t have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. One day he just “decided” to attend one of the nine weekend services at Long Hollow’s three campuses. He heard the testimony of a guest speaker and the truth of God’s love for him penetrated his heart. Tony accepted Jesus that day, and he’ll never be the same.

What do these stories have in common? You. Your gifts help Jeff and Nancy pursue God’s calling to Vietnam. You make it possible for people to experience authentic community through small groups. Because of you, J.D. heard the gospel and was saved from a self-destructive lifestyle. Through your faithful giving, people like Tony are given the opportunity to discover new life in Christ. These are just a few of the stories we hear almost every day. They are representative of the hundreds of people… • Who have been baptized throughout the year… • Who have gone on mission trips, including to our orphanage in Haiti… • Who have begun to volunteer and attend small groups… • Who have found help, forgiveness, and healing in Christ at Long Hollow in recent days! God is up to something in our midst. We sense that God wants to take us to another level of commitment individually and as a church. God desires relationship with us and demands radical commitment from us. His heart beats for peopleall people. His desire is for His church to be about adjusting our lives and aligning our priorities to bring God glory. To this end, Long Hollow is designing next year’s budget with this in mind. I am asking that you would prayerfully consider approving this budget and partnering together to make this happen. Please pray that Long Hollow will continue to have a heart for the nations. I love you folks! Stay fired up!

HAITI In 2011, we will have about 400 orphaned children in residential care and about 750 in our two orphan villages in Haiti, including a daily feeding program. Over 200 people from Long Hollow have been to Jeremie. There are already 16 mission trips planned to Haiti for 2011.

NICARAGUA Partnering with Extreme Missionary Adventures, Long Hollow is able to bring the gospel to remote and unreached villages throughout the jungles of Nicaragua. Many of these people have never heard the name of Jesus. These trips are designed for men only, and the primary focus is evangelism. Most trips, men will backpack to villages in Nicaragua that are isolated by rugged mountainous and jungle terrain.

Long Hollow senses God’s call to start a church (maybe two) in New York City over the next five years. It is a crucial city in the eyes of the United States, as well as the world. It is strategically located and heavily populated.

Like in Haiti, we are privileged to be a part of building facilities and caring for orphaned children at two locations; Kyotera and Mbira. When complete, there will be about 250 kids in our care and about 500 in our schools there, which include a feeding program.

ORPHAN CARE

Through Crazy Love, Long Hollow already has built an orphan village in Jeremie, Haiti that includes homes, a church, a clinic, a school, and a guest house. Additional work is taking place in Port-Au-Prince where we are helping reconstruct a church, provide homes for almost 100 additional children, and build a school for 250. Through our work in Uganda, we are caring for more children who have lost their parents to the AIDS epidemic in that country. In 2011, Long Hollow will care for approximately 600 orphans! Your faithfulness is making an eternal difference in the lives of children around the world. In addition to meeting their physical needs, these children are learning about God’s love for them and are being given the opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Their stories are inspiring as many are experiencing love for the very first time.

All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name (Psalm 86:9). We gather together for worship to exalt our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as one body, one heart, and one mind. Each of us having many different gifts, coming together to worship and serve the Lord for one common goal. Romans 12:4-5: “For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”

Life Change // Ricky is 45 years old and hadn’t been to church since he was 13. Recently, his sister invited him to attend a Long Hollow worship service. Ricky realized that he needed the Lord in a big way that day. He turned in a Guest Card which read, “Salvation for me and my family.” After a visit with a staff pastor, Ricky prayed to receive Christ and we look forward to seeing him baptized in the next several weeks.

WE WERE CREATED TO BE IN COMMUNITY.

By doing life together, we build relationships with people who share our love for God and our desire to make a difference here and around the world. The early church was established by people who did life together. They were there for each other. They encouraged one another. They prayed together. Long Hollow invests in small groups because we know that God is working through groups to change people and change the world. Life Change // One of our small groups has adopted a family whose father is in prison. They found the mom and children a place to live, repaired their cars, visited the dad in prison, and are helping with Christmas for this family. Also, as a group, they are helping a missionary in Kentucky with Christmas gifts and are continuing to go on weekends to help a family in Portland who suffered significant property damage in the flood.
