LAST YEAR'S MEETING - OKLAHOMA 33, OKLAHOMA STATE 24 Special teams was a key factor in Oklahoma's 33-24 win over Oklahoma State that cost the Cowboys their second Big 12 title in a threeyear span. The Sooners scored on a punt return touchdown and on a fake field goal touchdown pass to put themselves in good position, yet the Cowboys scored a touchdown to cap an 89-yard drive and take a 24-20 lead with 1:46 left in the game. However, OU went 66 yards to reclaim the lead at 27-24 with 19 seconds remaining and added a score with no time on the clock by returning an OSU fumble on a lateral on the Cowboys' last-gasp attempt to score.

MEMORABLE OKLAHOMA STATE WINS OVER OKLAHOMA 2001: Oklahoma State 16, No. 4 Oklahoma 13 (in Norman) The Oklahoma State football team pulled off one of its most memorable wins in recent memory by toppling No. 4 Oklahoma, 16-13, in Norman in 2001. The win derailed the Sooners' chances of defending the national championship they won the previous season. Making the game even more remarkable is the fact that it was a true freshman quarterback in Josh Fields who led the Cowboys to victory over the heavily-favored Sooners. Fields entered the game in Oklahoma State's fourth offensive series and went on to pass for 231 yards and connect on all five of his pass attempts on the game-winning drive, which was highlighted by a 31-yard strike to T.D. Bryant in which Bryant took the ball away from All-America safety Roy Williams and set up the very next play, a 14-yard Fields-to-Rashaun Woods touchdown pass that gave the Cowboys a 16-13 advantage with 1:36 left. The OSU defense was remarkable, holding OU to 220 yards of offense - zero rushing. To put that into perspective, the Cowboys entered the game having allowed an average of 477.7 yards over their previous six games and surrendered 517 yards the previous week against Baylor. 2002: Oklahoma State 38, No. 3 Oklahoma 28 (in Stillwater) The goal posts came down in Stillwater after Oklahoma State beat No. 3 Oklahoma for the second straight season, this time by a 38-28 margin. The Sooners entered with a 10-1 record and had aspirations of playing in the national championship game entering the contest, but the Cowboys were the far superior team that day, rolling to touchdowns on four of their first five possessions and amassing 506 yards of offense in the contest. OSU held a commanding 35-6 lead in the third quarter before OU could muster any kind of sustained production. Cowboy quarterback Josh Fields threw for 357 yards and four touchdowns and receiver Rashaun Woods dominated the OU secondary, catching 12 passes for a then-school record 226 yards. "We thought we could score of every possession. We had a lot of fun out there today," Fields said after the game. The win marked the second straight for OSU over its Bedlam rival, as the Pokes stunned the fourth-ranked Sooners in Norman the previous season. 2011: No. 3 Oklahoma State 44, No. 13 Oklahoma 10 (in Stillwater) The day that Oklahoma State had been waiting for presented itself and the Cowboys took full advantage by throttling No. 13 Oklahoma, 44-10, to clinch their first-ever outright Big 12 conference championship and BCS-bowl appearance. The Pokes held a 24-0 lead late in the second quarter that ballooned to a 44-3 advantage before the Sooners scored a meaningless touchdown with 2:25 remaining in the game. The Cowboy defense was the aggressor and disrupted Sooner quarterback Landry Jones all game long, sacking the OU signal-caller three times, picking him off twice and forcing him into two lost fumbles. Jones finished 27-of-50 for 250 yards with no touchdowns. Linebacker Alex Elkins forced a second-quarter fumble by Jones that was recovered by defensive end Jamie Blatnick and returned 59 yards to the Sooner one-yard line, then punched in for a score by running back Joseph Randle on the very next play. Later in the third quarter, defensive end Richetti Jones picked up a second Jones fumble and rumbled in five yards for a touchdown. Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden didn’t put up his most spectacular numbers of the year in the contest, thanks largely to the fact that he only had to throw the ball one time in the fourth quarter because the Cowboy running game was dominant. Joseph Randle carried 19 times for 51 yards and two touchdowns and Jeremy Smith went for 119 yards on 10 carries with two scores of his own.

Team Notes LAST TIME OUT - NO. 6 BAYLOR 49, OKLAHOMA STATE 28 Debuting true freshman quarterback Mason Rudolph playing most of the game behind an offensive line consisting of three freshmen and a sophomore, Oklahoma State lost a 49-28 decision in a driving rain storm to No. 6 Baylor in Waco. Baylor jumped the Cowboys immediately and held a 14-0 lead less than three minutes into the game after a pair of long touchdown passes. OSU responded by dropping safeties back, which set the stage for the Bears to be able to rush for 317 yards and five touchdowns in the contest. Still, OSU hung around and when running back Rennie Childs punched in a two-yard touchdown run with 10:44 left in the fourth quarter, the Cowboys had the ball and were within one score of turning it into a one-possession game with plenty of time to do further damage. However, OSU turned the ball over with 5:02 remaining and Baylor converted that into the touchdown drive that essentially put the game away. STANDOUTS VS. BAYLOR Offense QB Mason Rudolph | Freshman | 6-4 | 217 | Rock Hill, SC Playing the first game of his collegiate career, true freshman quarterback Mason Rudolph completed 13-of-25 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns for the best debut for a Cowboy signal caller in school history. With Baylor holding all the momentum late in the first half, Rudolph calmly engineered a 10-play, 75-yard drive that spanned 4:17 and was capped by an eight-yard touchdown pass to David Glidden with one second remaining in the half to keep the Cowboys in it. Baylor re-secured momentum early in the fourth quarter before Rudolph struck again with a 68-yard touchdown pass to fellow freshman James Washington. Rudolph then marched the Cowboys 70 yards in five plays to set up another touchdown on the next drive to further threaten the heavily-favored Bears before BU went on to seal its win. On his 13 completions, Rudolph passed for more yards (281) than Baylor's Heisman Trophy candidate Bryce Petty did on 18 completions (262). WR James Washington | Freshman | 6-0 | 193 | Stamford, TX James Washington enjoyed the most productive day for an Oklahoma State freshman receiver since Dez Bryant when he made four catches for 114 yards and a touchdown against a Baylor defense that entered the game ranked 14th nationally in total defense. Highlighted by a 68-yard touchdown reception early in the fourth quarter, Washington's 114 receiving yards were the third-most ever for an OSU freshman, trailing only Bryant's 155 yards vs. Kansas and 117 yards vs. Indiana in 2007. Washington joined Bryant, Marcellus Rivers and Hart Lee Dykes as the only freshmen in OSU history to post a 100-yard receiving day. Defense LB Ryan Simmons | Junior | 6-0 | 235 | Cibolo, TX Linebacker Ryan Simmons led all players with 13 tackles and added a tackle for loss and a pass breakup. Of Simmons' 13 tackles, 11 were of the solo variety. He was the leader of an OSU defense that limited Baylor's passing attack to 92 yards less than its season average entering the game. Special Teams P Kip Smith | Senior | 6-1 | 235 | Broomfield, CO Senior Kip Smith punted eight times for 347 yards in the game (43.4 yards per punt). He was a key figure in OSU averaging 40.9 net yards per punt in the game. His eight punts resulted in no punt return yards for the Bears. BLOCKED KICKS PART OF OSU'S ARSENAL Oklahoma State leads the nation with six blocked kicks this year, a mark that ties the 2000 season for most blocked kicks in a single season. Of those six blocks, three came in a single game against Missouri State. Safety Jordan Sterns blocked a punt, defensive tackle James Castleman blocked a PAT attempt and defensive tackle Ofa Hautau blocked a field goal attempt against the Bears, with all of those blocks coming in the first half of that contest. Three blocked kicks in a game set a Big 12 record and marked only the second time in NCAA history that a team blocked a PAT, field goal and punt in the same game. Oregon State accomplished the feat in 1996 against USC. GAME NOTES CASTLEMAN THE BLOCKED KICK LEADER Oklahoma State is the best team in the nation at blocking kicks and James Castleman is perhaps the best player in the nation at blocking kicks, evidenced by the fact that he leads the country with three blocks this season. Castleman has excelled in this area the past two seasons, as he has gotten a hand on five kicks the last two seasons. His five career blocked kicks ties him with Chris Massey atop the all-time Oklahoma State list. A closer look:

NON-OFFENSIVE TOUCHDOWNS AN OSU STAPLE Non-offensive touchdowns have been a regular part of the Oklahoma State attack in recent years, as the Cowboys have 29 non-offensive scores since the start of the 2010 season - a mark that ranks second in the nation during that span. With four non-offensive touchdowns in 2014 (Ashton Lampkin returned an interception for a touchdown against UTSA, Tyreek Hill took kickoffs to paydirt against Iowa State and Kansas and Ramon Richards returned an interception for a score at Kansas State), the trend continues. This year's squad leads the nation in blocked kicks. Additionally, OSU is one of only nine schools in the nation with two kickoff returns for touchdowns, ranks 12th nationally in field goals made per game and ranks among the better teams in the country in net punting, punt return defense and kickoff return defense. PUNT COVERAGE UNIT GETTING IT DONE Oklahoma State has been solid when it comes to covering punts, as the Cowboys allow only 3.29 yards per punt return to rank 10th nationally. The Cowboys allowed a 31-yard punt return against UTSA, but OSU's other 69 punts have yielded a total of only 48 return yards (0.70 average). GAME NOTES STATE OF THE PROGRAM

DEFENSIVE LINE AN AREA OF STRENGTH The Oklahoma State defensive line has combined to record 41.5 of OSU's 78 tackles for loss and 20.5 of OSU's 29 sacks this season. Thanks in no small part to the defensive line, the Cowboys average 2.64 sacks per game and are third in the Big 12 and 22nd nationally with 7.1 tackles for loss per contest. The Cowboys' 2.64 sacks per game far exceeds last year's average of 1.92 sacks per contest and is good for fourth in the Big 12. DEFENSIVE SUCCESS ON FOURTH DOWN Oklahoma State ranks third in the Big 12 and 20th nationally in fourth down conversion percentage defense by allowing opponents to convert on only 35.7 percent of their fourth down attempts (5-for-14). GETTING POINTS IN THE RED ZONE Oklahoma State's offense stacks up favorably when it comes to cashing red zone trips into points. OSU leads the Big 12 and is ninth nationally by scoring on 91.4 percent of its offensive red zone trips (32-of-35). PROTECTING THE BALL The Oklahoma State offense dedicates a period of every practice to working on ball security and it appears that time is paying off. The Cowboys have lost only four fumbles this year, a mark that leads the Big 12 and ranks fourth nationally. OFFENSIVE BALANCE LIES IN BALL DISTRIBUTION The most consistent theme of the Mike Gundy era at Oklahoma State is balanced offense. The Cowboys have been able to gash teams in a variety of ways since Gundy took over in 2005. What does that balance look like in 2014? Perhaps it lies in ball distribution. Offensive Player Notes ABOUT DAXX GARMAN Now in his third year in the Oklahoma State program, Daxx Garman is a capable passer. He also has an interesting back story. Before making his collegiate debut against Missouri State on Sept. 6, Garman had been on the sidelines since 2009. After completing 69 percent of his passes for 2,500 yards at Jones HS just outside of Oklahoma City that season, Garman's family moved to Texas, where he enrolled at Southlake Carroll HS but was unable to play in 2010 due to transfer restrictions. Even without playing as a senior, Garman was a three-star prospect who signed with Arizona. After spending the 2011 season in the desert, he transferred to Oklahoma State in the summer of 2012 and sat out another year in accordance with NCAA transfer rules. He was eligible to play for the Cowboys in 2013, but did not see the field due to the presence of All-Big 12 performer Clint Chelf and J.W. Walsh. Garman's father, Pat, was a standout baseball player who played collegiately for Cal State Fullerton before going on to a professional career that included a two-year stop with the Tulsa Drillers, the double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. GARMAN COMFORTABLE IN TAKING HIS SHOTS Daxx Garman is 24th nationally in yards per completion (13.43). Walsh during the first quarter of Oklahoma State's home opener against Missouri State on Sept. 6 and helped lead the Cowboys to a 40-23 victory by completing 16-of-26 passes for 244 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Garman was on the field for nine series, six of which resulted in scores, a seventh resulted in a missed field goal and the final two resulted in OSU losing the ball on downs and punting as it was attempting to run out the clock at the end of the fourth quarter. ABOUT MASON RUDOLPH True freshman quarterback Mason Rudolph finished high school early in order to enroll at Oklahoma State for the spring semester and participate in practice with the Cowboys. Tabbed by both Rivals.com and ESPN.com as a top-10 pro-style quarterback nationally, Rudolph completed 73 percent of his passes for 4,377 yards with 41 touchdowns and only seven interceptions as a senior at Northwestern HS in Rock Hill, S.C. A finalist for the prestigious "Mr. Football" honor in South Carolina, Rudolph chose to come to Stillwater over offers from LSU, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech and North Carolina, among others. RUDOLPH GETS HIS CHANCE With Daxx Garman sidelined for Oklahoma State's game at No. 6 Baylor on Nov. 22, Mason Rudolph picked up the first starting assignment and the first live game action of his career. In doing so, he became just the third true freshman to start at quarterback for Oklahoma State since 1993, joining Toné Jones (1993) and Wes Lunt (2012). RISING TO THE MOMENT Mason Rudolph enjoyed a productive collegiate debut at No. 6 Baylor despite a number of factors that would typically hamper a quarterback's performance. The game was played on the road in a driving rain storm and Rudolph played the majority of the contest with three freshmen and a sophomore on the offensive line facing a Baylor squad that entered the contest ranked 14th nationally in total defense. Even under those not-ideal circumstances, Rudolph completed 13-of-25 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns for the best debut for a Cowboy signal caller in school history.

GAME NOTES NOTABLE DEBUTS FOR COWBOY QUARTERBACKS Circumstances vary from one player's debut to another's, but purely from a statistical standpoint, it is undebatable that Mason Rudolph's showing at Baylor and Daxx Garman's showing against Missouri State were the best two debuts for a quarterback in Oklahoma State history. WALSH In junior J.W. Walsh, OSU has a quarterback who has put up big numbers and has led the team to Big 12 Conference wins, both at home and on the road. A true dual-threat quarterback, Walsh started three games as a redshirt freshman in 2012 and five games as a sophomore in 2013. He finished last season as one of only five sophomore quarterbacks with 20 or more career passing touchdowns and 10 or more career rushing touchdowns. The other four were Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel, Oregon’s Marcus Mariota, UCLA’s Brett Hundley and BYU’s Taysom Hill. Walsh was injured in week two of this season and has not played since. FOOTBALL IS IN HIS DNA Oklahoma State quarterback J.W. Walsh is the son of John Walsh, who is the head coach of Guyer HS in Denton, Texas. Walsh started the program in 2006 and led Guyer to the Texas Class 4A state title in 2012 and 2013. With J.W. at quarterback, Guyer was the Class 5A state runner-up in 2010. The connection between Guyer HS and Oklahoma State has been strong, with several of Walsh's pupils finding their way to Stillwater. Most notably are J.W. Walsh, defensive end Jimmy Bean and former All-Big 12 performer and current Tennessee Titan Josh Stewart. ABOUT DESMOND ROLAND At 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, senior Desmond Roland is not an average-size running back. He averages a healthy 4.6 yards per carry over the span of his career and led the Big 12 by scoring 16 total touchdowns last year despite not starting until week seven. He's fourth in the Big 12 with eight rushing touchdowns this year. Traditional measures such as total defense can be misleading in the Big 12 due to the number of plays each team has to defend in the current era dominated by high-tempo spread offenses. Many Big 12 teams judge themselves on per-play stats and minimizing big plays. HILL AMONG THE NATION'S MOST DANGEROUS Tyreek Hill is second in the Big 12 and ranks 15th nationally with 147.73 all-purpose yards per game. He leads the Big 12 and is fifth nationally with 870 combined kick return yards (kickoff return yardage plus punt return yardage). That said, it took him until the fourth game of the season before he scored his first touchdown. While it took him a while to find the end zone, he made up for lost time by scoring long touchdowns in each of the next three games - a 50-yard reception against Texas Tech, a 97-yard kickoff return vs. Iowa State and a 99-yard kickoff return at Kansas. Hill is one of only nine players in the country with more than one kickoff return touchdown this season. He earned All-America status with a fifth-place finish in the 200 meters at the 2014 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. During his prep days at Coffee HS in Pearson, Ga., Hill ran the 200 meters in 20.14 seconds - the second-fastest high school mark of all time - and ran the 100 meters in 10.19 to match the fastest time in the country his senior year. To put his 200 meter time of 20.14 into perspective, it would have been the fastest time in the nation among collegians in 2013 and would have placed him sixth at the 2012 London Olympics.

In the 2014 opener against Florida State, Childs carried 10 times for 51 yards (4.7 yards per carry) against a Seminole defense that had allowed only 3.3 yards per rush the season prior. With Desmond Roland sidelined the next game against Missouri State, Childs made the first start of his career against the Bears and scored a pair of touchdowns. Entering the Oklahoma game, Childs has carried 69 times for 261 yards and three touchdowns. At 5-foot-10 and 205 pounds, Childs has more prototypical size for a spread offense running back and his one-cut-and-get-up-the-field style makes him a good fit in OSU's system. He was injured in OSU's win over Kansas and missed the next two contests at TCU and against West Virginia before returning for limited action against Kansas State and Texas. ABOUT DAVID GLIDDEN After battling injuries during the front end of his time at Oklahoma State, receiver David Glidden is now emerging into the player that many thought he would be after he was honored as a Parade All-American and the Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year during his senior year at Mustang HS. A shifty, quick-twitch style of player, Glidden leads the team with 39 catches and 549 receiving yards. He scored a 55-yard touchdown in the opener against Florida State and added an eight-yard scoring grab at Baylor. Glidden leads the team with nine receptions of 20 yards or more. Of Glidden's 39 receptions, 27 have resulted in either a first down or a touchdown, a mark that also leads the team. ABOUT BRANDON SHEPERD Among the most physically gifted of Oklahoma State's offensive skill position players, receiver Brandon Sheperd has the size, the jumping ability, the speed and strength to beat opposing defensive backs in a number of ways. His 87-yard touchdown catch against Missouri State in week two stands as the second-longest reception in OSU history. He struck for a 57-yard reception at TCU and is a viable threat in the vertical passing game, evidenced by the fact that he leads the team (min. five receptions) with 17.9 yards per catch. Of Sheperd's 27 receptions this year, 23 have resulted in either a first down or a touchdown, for a percentage that leads the team (.852 pct.) Sheperd is second on the team with 27 receptions and is second on the squad with 483 receiving yards. The best game of his career to date came when he made eight catches for 91 yards against Iowa State. ABOUT JAMES WASHINGTON True freshman James Washington leads Oklahoma State with five touchdown receptions and enjoyed the most productive day for an Cowboy freshman receiver since Dez Bryant when he made four catches for 114 yards and a touchdown against a Baylor defense that entered the game ranked 14th nationally in total defense. Highlighted by a 68-yard touchdown reception, Washington's 114 receiving yards were the third-most ever for an OSU freshman, trailing only Bryant's 155 yards vs. Kansas and 117 yards vs. Indiana in 2007. Washington joined Bryant, Marcellus Rivers and Hart Lee Dykes as the only freshmen in OSU history to post a 100-yard receiving day. His path to Oklahoma State was a remarkable one because he came from tiny Stamford, Texas (population 3,124, according to the 2010 census). He led Stamford HS to the Texas Class 1-A state title his senior year, earning district MVP and all-state honors. He was also district MVP in basketball and was a first-team all-district and first-team all-region tennis player who played in the state doubles quarterfinals. ABOUT MARCELL ATEMAN Standing 6-foot-4 and understanding how to use his body to shield defenders and how to catch the ball at its highest point, Marcell Ateman plays a role in Oklahoma State's downfield passing attack. An all-district performer during his days as a basketball player at Wylie East HS in the Dallas area, Ateman is the son of Ron Ateman, who was a standout performer on the hardwood for Western Illinois from 1989-91. Ateman introduced himself as a viable threat to opposing defenses when he collected six receptions for 130 yards against Texas Tech. Of his six catches against the Red Raiders, three were for 40 yards or more. ABOUT JHAJUAN SEALES Sophomore Jhajuan Seales is the most productive member of the Oklahoma State receiving corps in terms of career numbers with 56 catches for 829 yards and six touchdowns scored during his time as a Cowboy. He is among the team leaders this year with 15.2 yards per catch (min. five receptions). Seales was a lightly-recruited prospect out of Port Arthur, Texas, whose only power-conference offer was from Oklahoma State. He didn't earn a spot on his high school's varsity squad until his junior year and didn't catch the attention of colleges until he caught 54 passes for 1,207 yards and 13 touchdowns as a senior.

OSU returned two punts for touchdowns and two other punts that gave the Cowboys starting field position inside the opponent's 20 yard line - and that doesn't count a blocked punt that was recovered at the 15 yard line against Texas Tech. • The Cowboys led the Big 12 and ranked 18th nationally by allowing only 18.74 yards per kickoff return.
