Office 365 Installation

Office 365 Installation Login Navigate to the Office 365 Login site. Whenever given a choice between “Microsoft account” and “Work or school account,” click to choose the “Work or school account” selection. If no choice is given at this point, navigation will be directed to a sign-in page requiring the City of Henderson login.

Use the employee email address in the first window. Press the Tab key and the screen will change as the user is redirected to a specific City login page.

Make sure the User’s City email address is present and enter the User’s regular network password in the space provided. Click Sign in.

Office 365 Installation Office 365 will need to complete a twofactor recognition. If the site has been previously accessed by the employee, responding to the 2nd Factor verification will complete the login process.

If this is the initial time to login to the Office 365 site, create the Second Factor verification, click “Set it up now.” For those employees who have a desk phone number in Active Directory, the default verification is a phone call to the City Desk Phone number.

This verification can be changed to a different phone number, and changed to a text message to that number. NOTE: cell phone verification highly recommended in virtually all cases.

If either the Authentication Phone or Office Phone is set up, click Contact Me. NOTE: verification can also be set up using Azure Authenticator on a Mobile device. The Setup for a Mobile app involves installation of the app on the Mobile device and will be described on a different document.

Office 365 Installation After clicking Contact Me, the chosen Verification will be sent via the selected method. Click “Verify preferred option.”

Enter the text, click a Verify or Approve button, or answer the phone call.

The Sign in button may need to be clicked. Click the Done button.

Installation Click Install Office 2016.

Click Run, then click Yes.

Microsoft will begin the download/install process. Allow Office 365 time to install. Page 3 of 9

As Office completes installation, users are presented options.

On this screen, users are encouraged to choose “Use recommended settings.” Click “Accept” to agree to the Microsoft Office License Agreement

Other windows offer options to be accepted or passed.

When installation is complete, click All done.

Office 365 Installation Microsoft Office 2013 will have its own folder in the Windows 7 popup menu, its own section in the Windows 8 Application list, and can be arranged as a group in Start in Windows 10.

All users will have multiple possible installations of Microsoft 365, and those installations can include tablets and phones in addition to computers. To download and install the current Office product on a phone or tablet, log into the Office 365 site from the selected device. Click “Get Office on your devices.”

Choose the appropriate phone or tablet. Ensure minimum requirements are met.

Follow the designated steps to download and install on the device.

Tracking Installations When additional installations have been completed, each device receiving an Office Suite will appear on a list to manage all installs from an individual login.

Click the Settings icon, click Office 365. Click “Install status.”

If the user wants to remove Office 365 from a given workstation or device, click the Deactivate selection.

When the installation limit is reached, the sequence for subsequent installations can be affected and completed, but the Office Suite will be not be activated. Page 6 of 9

Office 365 Installation The indicating windows may include which could mean that the user account is no longer responsive to another installation.

If an application in the Office 365 Suite actually opens, a caution beneath the ribbons will request the Activation before use is possible, or the Activation sequence will be requested.

Finally, this window will display the installation limit that has been reached, and direct the user to deactivate a previous installation if the latest installation is to be used.

When an installation is Deactivated, this window indicates furnishes a final caution and affirmation.

When an installation has been deactivated, any subsequent installations can be activated simply by signing into Office 365. When Office 365 on the selected workstation is next access, the Account will be updated. Click OK.

Change Second Factor Verification After logging in, click the Settings icon, then click Office 365.

Click Security & privacy.

Click “Additional security verification.”

When the text drops down, click “Update your phone numbers used for account security.”

The default verification setting is to call the desk phone.

Keep or change the type of communication.

Keep or change the Authentication phone number.

Click Save.

Office 365 Installation If a change is made, a verification of the change is transmitted via the different number or method.

Click Verify preferred option.

Answer the call and press the pound sign (#) or enter the six-digit verification code from the text message and press Verify.

NOTE: when deactivated, the Office Suite will not be removed from the device, but access to the applications will be severely diminished or disabled.

NOTE: once installed Office 365 is an agreement between the user and Microsoft. Any adjustments or issues should be taken up with Microsoft.

NOTE: termination of employment at the City of Henderson will also deactivate Office 365 installations.
