October: the tree leaves are falling. The nights are getting longer. That of October 1st2nd will be sleepless for Nuit Blanche, an all-night event that is open to each and everyone so that Paris’s inhabitants and visitors can welcome the arrival of the Fall.

At the end of October, those who love contemporary art will not miss the FIAC, a fair that brings together gallery owners, artists and collectors in Grand Palais and Petit Palais, two magnificent buildings that were built for the 1900 Universal Exhibition.

A few days later the 16.74 square feet of vineyards in Montmartre will be harvested, 1762 gamay and pinot noir vine plants. Don’t laugh at the size of the vineyards. Wine is serious business here is France, which is why we have a Wine & Cheese party at both of our hotels every month.

Come soon! We are looking forward to seeing you and sharing with you many other ideas.

See you in October.

an all-nighter in Paris on October 1st-2nd On the first Saturday in October, as the days shorten and autumn turns to winter, the Nuit Blanche event in Paris offers an opportunity to see the city in a new light. Artists take over various areas of the city with installations, exhibitions, street art, light-and-sound shows, concerts, performances, staged scenes and creations exploring all facets of contemporary art.

Public transport stays open throughout the night so that spectators can create their own routes among the dozens of avant-garde projects put in place by international and home-grown artists. The Nuit Blanche was first organised in 2002, and, much like the Fête de la Musique, is a concept that has been taken up by other cities in France and in other countries, its popularity spreading all around the world.

Fête des vendanges

in Montmartre 83rd edition - 5-9 October 2016

Who does not know Montmartre, its artists, and the charm of a quartier that provides a magnificent view of Paris? Every year, Montmartre also has its vendanges (wine harvest), a long tradition with 5 unforgettable days of wine-tasting, parades, fireworks, a street ball, etc. The theme of the 83rd edition will be Liberté. On Wednesday, the 5th of October, starting at 2:30pm, 700 children in costume will parade to Porte Montmartre. Another parade will start at 3pm from the city hall of the 18th arrondissement. It will bring together wine and gastronomic brotherhoods coming from all over France and neighboring countries to present their exceptional products.

On Sunday, the 9th of October from 5pm to 7pm, in square Louise Michel, the choreographer José Montalvo and his dancers will, following their tradition, invite the public to dance with them to the theme of French poet Paul Eluard’s poem, “Liberté.” The same evening at 8pm, fireworks will illuminate Montmartre in front of Sacré Cœur.
