Jesus said to him in reply, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man replied to him, “Master, I want to see.” Jesus told him, “Go your way; your faith has saved you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed him on the way. Mk 10:51-52

2 Welcome to St. Therese of Jesus

FR. MIKE AT THE MIC: This Sunday, Oct. 25, is World Mission Sunday. A Pope once said that the Catholic Church does not have a mission but is a mission. Our mission as Catholics is to proclaim the Gospel, The Good News, who is Jesus Christ, and give witness to him by living His message in the world. The second collection taken today will help spread this good news throughout the world. Your contribution will support our brothers and sisters in Latin America, The USA and other missions in the world, plus the retired priests in the Rockford diocese, the Propagation of the Faith Ministry, and Catholic School Education in the Diocese. We can all do our part through increased prayer and financial support. Thus we unite with our Catholic siblings in living, proclaiming, and teaching our Catholic Faith. God bless you for your generosity. Also on Sunday, we will present and install the members of the Parish Council at the 10am & 12:15pm Masses. These members voluntarily serve the parish in advising the pastor on many parish matters. The Parish Council meets monthly to review our progress and to make suggestions for the future. If you feel the Holy Spirit guiding you to learn more about the Parish Council, feel free to talk with one of the members or with me. We will be glad to answer any questions you may have. As you can see we are working on the second project of our Capital Campaign, (CC), installing air conditioning units. Next year we will have a “cool” summer. I remind you that our CC goal is $600,000. So far a minority of parishioners have made pledges for $470,000, and have paid $334,710.32 in payments. So you can see that we are proceeding relatively well, but are still $130,000 short of the goal. We need to reach our goal to complete the other three projects: a Eucharist Adoration chapel, a remodeled confessional and remodeling of the church basement. At the entrances of the church we have posted a list of those parishioners who have made a pledge. If your name is not on it, you can add it to the list by pledging a suggested $1,000 in the last year of the campaign, an amount less than $3 a day. If an additional one hundred and thirty families would each pledge $1,000 for the next year, we could easily meet the goal. Remember that great things are done only through sacrifice and hard work. I am grateful to all those who have made a pledge, and challenge everyone else to do the same as we all will be enjoying the “cool” air next summer. We appreciate whatever pledge you make.
