Enniscorthy Craft Street is inviting all the people of Enniscorthy and District to come and visit Slaney Street, where we are creating a special craft street for local Artisans and Craft people to sell their products. The craft shops range from an Ironmonger; to an interactive craft shop where children can make their very own dolls; two gift Christmas shops, a pottery shop and a range of different arts & crafts. Wells House and Gardens wins FBD Women and Agriculture Award

On Wednesday 28th October Sabine Rosler of Wells House and Gardens attending the FBD Women and Agriculture Awards and won first prize in the Agri Business Innovation Award. These awards provide a national platform to recognise the contribution women make to agriculture in Ireland and the innovative practices that ensure the future security of farming sector. They are designed to highlight an entrepreneurial spirit and the drive needed to develop a successful sustainable business. To be listed as a finalist in these national awards Wells House and Gardens were visited in early September by Mary Lyons of Teagasc, Carolyn O’Hara of FBD and Katherine O’Leary of the Farmers Journal who spoke with Sabine in relation to her business plan and the motivation behind opening the house and gardens to the public, the strategy required to make a new tourist venue a success and what a normal day is like for Sabine in her role as owner and manager. The gala awards night was held in Knightsbrook Hotel in Trim where Sabine accepted her award. On behalf of Sabine and her team she would like to extend her gratitude to our customers for their support over the last three years as they have allowed the business grow and gain our reputation. The awards were sponsored by FBD, Teagasc and The Farmers Journal. Sabine will go on to represent Ireland in the EU Innovation Awards being held in Brussels in October 2016.

GLAMOUROUS RED CARPET EVENING AS BROOKLYN IS PREMIERES IN ENNISCORTHY

Though Saorse Ronan the star of the film Brooklyn, adapted form the best selling book by Colm Toibin, was unable to attend the premiere of the film. the people of Enniscorthy celebrated with style the local premiere of the film. The two sold out screenings of the film took place in the Riverside Park Hotel where the main ballroom was transformed into a movie theatre complete with tiered seating for the event. Colm Toibin spoke at the premiere saying “I think it was great that the Enniscorthy sequences of the film where shot in the town. All the people working of the film spoke of the beauty of the of the town itself and the warm reception they received form everyone they met.” Cast members Eve Macklin and Gary Lydon with Colm Toibin where on the red carpet, however the news that Soarse Ronan would not be attending did not dampen local spirits. Former RTE news reader Anne Doyle who hails form Ferns and the lead singer of the folk act Corner Boys Michael D’Arcy attended the premiere, as did the Minster Paul Kehoe TD and his wife Bridget .
