UCSF UPDATES IN INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE

St. Regis San Francisco San Francisco, CA

2016

The UCSF Center for Colitis and Crohn's Disease is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for individuals with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and related illnesses. As part of this commitment, we are proud to present our fourteenth annual inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) symposium. This course will address advances in the medical and surgical management of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis including novel therapies and optimizing current medications. Management of special populations including the elderly and those with complications of therapy will be discussed. WHO SHOULD ATTEND THIS COURSE? This symposium is designed for gastroenterologists, colorectal surgeons, internists, and allied health professionals who participate in the management of this complicated patient population.

OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this course, attendees will refine their approach to: • the level of therapy that is appropriate for the patient with moderate to severe IBD; • the level of therapy that is appropriate for the postoperative Crohn’s patient; • applying endoscopic scoring systems to every day practice; • endpoints of therapy for IBD; • interventions for J pouch dysfunction; • recognizing infectious complications of IBD; • discussing novel therapies and biosimilars with their patients; • prescribing medical therapy for the elderly patient with IBD.
