to pursue new careers. In a special way, we thank them for their service to us.

Dear Parents and Guardians, Welcome to the month of June. As I sit at my desk and reflect on the past school year, the word thanks comes to my mind over and over again. Let me spell it out for you so you can see why this word of thanks is so special to me.

T stands for the thousands of hours spent by our faculty, staff, and students in service to those in need - over 15,000 hours of service, to be exact.

H stands for the honors our students have received in scholarships to the most prestigious colleges and universities in our nation - $8.27 million dollars, to be exact.

So when you put all of this together, I

THANKS

say a huge for all you do to make Notre Dame such a special and sacred place. We are blessed with great students, parents, faculty, and staff who make this a great recipe for success. Have a great and restful summer; stay safe and close to God. Pray for me as I, for you. Be certain of my gratitude for all you do for the school and for me. I tell everyone I meet that Notre Dame is the place to be, all because of you. In Notre Dame, Our Mother and Guide,

A stands for adoration in our chapel along with benediction on monthly First Fridays, weekly class liturgies, and bimonthly all school liturgies, where we were afforded the opportunity to spend time with Our Lord.

N stands for Never Give Up - that's the Bulldog cry as we marched on the fields and courts to district, conference, sectional, and state titles in so many athletic and academic competitions.

K stands for Kairos retreats, Emmaus retreats, the Sophomore Retreat Day and the Welcoming Freshmen Retreat. These retreats allow our students to understand the kinds of behavior that everyone can experience when you spend time away in prayer. Every Notre Dame student makes a yearly retreat.

S stands for our Senior Class - all 138 of them - who brought great honors to the school, living out the Mission of Notre Dame. That S also stands for sadness as we see them move on to new chapters in their lives and sadness as we say farewell to Mrs. Meg Garner and Mr. Jameson Kuper, who leave us

LOST & (hopefully to be) Found Many items are lost during the course of a school year that could be returned to their owners – if we only knew who their owners were! Before the school year begins: Students, please mark your name on such often-lost items as flash drives, pencil cases, keys, calculators, electronic devices, etc. If you lose an item, check these locations:  Lost-and-found cabinet in cafetorium  Office (for small or valuable items)  Gym lost-and-found area in north locker hallway – ask a coach for access  Library (esp. for books & jump drives)  Classrooms in which you have class  Classrooms near your locker  Shelves in the commons area Retrace your steps and ask your teachers and coaches if they have found your item.

B-I-N-G-O! A new year for our bingo program is beginning in June with the addition of new families coming in with the 201617 school year. Please be welcoming to them. Our bingo program is not only beneficial in keeping the cost of an excellent secondary Catholic education affordable but it is also a way for new families to meet more parents and make new friends through their teams. If there is a concern for you in working bingo, please remember it is requested that you address those concerns in a written letter to

NOTRE DAME PAW PRINTS www.notredamehighschool.org June 2016 Since 2005 Brother David. If you are not able to work or feel an objection to bingo, we know that you feel the obligation to donate back to the school the $450.00 per student in tuition savings. We look forward to another great year for this program with the addition of new captains, managers and callers. We are ever grateful to those who have unselfishly donated their time in the past and those who continue to do so. Several of our managers whose children have graduated are kind enough to stay throughout this summer to help with the continued success of our bingo program. You are truly lifesavers! It is always the Notre Dame way that if we all work together, we will all benefit together. You have already received the schedule for next year. New team rosters will be in the July mailing. ***Note for Athletes***

2016-17 season Summer is a good time for student athletes to get that required annual sports physical! No student may try out, practice, or participate in any athletic competition unless he/she has a current, completed physical form on file with the athletic director. This is a Missouri State High School Activities Association rule; there are no exceptions. The required form for the sports physical is downloadable from our website (Athletics tab) or on MSHSAA’s home page, http://www.mshsaa.org, or is available from our school office. FILL OUT THE HISTORY, INSURANCE, AND SIGNATURE SECTIONS IN ADVANCE AND TAKE YOUR SPORTS PHYSICAL FORM WITH YOU WHEN YOU GO TO GET YOUR PHYSICAL.

Schedule physicals during the summer! For Your Convenience …

Sports Physical Clinic

Notre Dame will host a Sports Physical Clinic on Monday, July 11, 2016. The exam provided at this clinic will satisfy MSHSAA requirements for a sports physical. Junior high students – students entering grades 6-8 from local parochial schools – may also obtain a sports physical at this clinic. Girls’ clinic will be 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Boys’ clinic will be 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. However, an exam can be obtained by either gender in both time slots. Access MSHSAA's physical form at https://www.mshsaa.org/ and fill out the history, insurance, and signature pages before you arrive for the physical. The $20 fee will benefit ND Booster Club. These physicals are provided through the generous service of Bobbi Palmer and Southeast Missouri State University Family Nurse Practitioner students. Thank you!

Eye See! Students who wear contact lenses are often in need of eye care items that the office does not have. Here’s a suggestion: The next time your student has an appointment with the eye doctor, ask for a travel pack containing extra saline solution, contact lenses, and a lens case. These can be kept in your student’s locker and will be readily available when needed.
