Alumni Speaker − Quint Barefoot Quint Barefoot is a native of Greensboro, NC. He received a BS in Chemical Engineering from NC State University and also completed his MBA at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Upon graduation, Quint joined his small family business, Four Seasons Environmental, Inc. and proceeded to lead the company through a rapid growth phase from less that $1M in annual revenue to over $90M employing over 480 personnel in multiple offices until the business was sold to a private equity firm. After leaving Four Seasons, Quint was one of the founders of Monosep, LLC a service firm that provides innovative water treatment systems to the energy sector based in Lafayette, Louisiana. At the time the business was sold to Siemens AG in January 2006, Monosep had rapidly evolved as a premier water treatment firm with systems operating throughout the Gulf Coast region and 23 countries throughout the world. The company is now integrated into Siemens Water Technologies. Quint is currently involved in several entrepreneurial projects and serves as an active partner in Waters Edge Environmental – an environmental consulting business based in Raleigh, NC; Zappa-Tec – a firm dedicated to using super absorbent polymers for proper solidification of hazardous and medical wastes based in Greensboro, NC and Info-Gel, LLC – a manufacturer of fiber optic gels with plants in Charlotte, NC; Limerick, Ireland and Mumbai, India. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the NC State Engineering Foundation, serving on both the Marketing and Investment Committees and previously served on the Board of Directors at Greensboro Day School, participating on both the Development and Executive Committees. Student Speaker −Kendall Fitzgerald Kendall Fitzgerald is a native of Galax, Virginia. He graduated from Galax High School and also attended the Southwest Virginia Governor’s School. While at NC State, Kendall has been active in the University Scholars Program, played trombone in the marching band for four years, and served as an Engineering Ambassador. He also co-chaired the 2009 Krispy Kreme Challenge, a unique NC State tradition which raised $40,000 for the NC Children’s Hospital with over 5,000 participants. Kendall is a Park Scholar, member of Omega Chi Epsilon, link of the NCSU Golden Chain Society, and was recognized with the Outstanding Senior Award for Leadership in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. His summer experiences include a study abroad program in Florence, Italy; a summer internship with GE in the Combined Cycle Power Plant Group in Schenectady, New York; and a Research Experience for Undergraduates in the area of lignocellulosic biomass gasification at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado. He has also conducted research at NC State in Dr. Wesley Henderson’s lab, working with ionic liquids for batteries and capacitors. After graduation, Kendall will join Syngenta’s Leadership Development Program, where his first assignment will be as a process engineer in St. Gabriel, Louisiana.
