NORDIC GENRE BOOST 2016-2017 GUIDELINES 1. MOTIVATION According to the general conditions in the Guidelines of Nordisk Film & TV Fond, ”The fund can initiate strategic development support to cross-national and preferably cross-platform initiatives. The Fund will announce on its website when an initiative is initiated.” The Fund has decided to create “Nordic Genre Boost”, a new three-year development initiative that puts a specific focus on the rapidly expanding regional and international field of genre film. A growing number of filmmakers are developing genre film projects that cross borders within the Nordic countries and beyond; it has therefore proven timely to bring these stories further into the spotlight. Combining a development grant with an intensive and rewarding process through which the projects can continue to shape their development, the aim of this initiative is to encourage and support Nordic genre films, giving the selected projects a platform on which to strengthen their visibility and potential to reach the production stage.

2. CONDITIONS FOR GRANTING OF SUPPORT Through a Strategic Development Support called “Nordic Genre Boost”, Nordisk Film & TV Fond (The Fund) may provide support for the development of genre feature film projects under the following conditions: The project must be suitable for distribution in cinemas and it may contain elements that can unfold on other media platforms. The applicants for Nordic Genre Boost must hold the rights to develop the project in all media. Support may be applied by Nordic film production companies (applicants may apply either single or in teams of 2 or 3 participants). It is mandatory for the project (meaning for the producer, director and/or writer) to participate in 2 residential workshops, planned for April and August 2017. The projects will be presented at the Nordic Co-Production and Finance Market in Haugesund, Norway. 3. SUPPORT GRANT Five to seven development support grants will be awarded - each grant is NOK 200.000.
