Nominations - Board of Directors We need you! Northern BC Tourism Association (NBCTA) is looking for Board of Directors members who realize the importance and role tourism plays in Northern BC! Apply by August 31, or you will miss the chance! Self nomination is allowed.

Regional Destination Marketing Organizations (RDMOs) are formulating regional business plans that support

2015 Partner Programs The Northern British Columbia Tourism Association works with regional tourism stakeholders through a variety of partner programs. These programs focus on cost shared or leveraged marketing initiatives targeted at getting exposure for tourism business in the north. This years programs include: • Angler's Atlas • Festivals & Events (apply here) • Fishing & Adventure Shows (apply here) • Google Business Views • Milepost

Destination BC's new corporate strategy for tourism growth and alignment across the province. New service agreements are in discussion which underline Destination BC's commitment to supporting the important role RDMOs play in BC's tourism ecosystem. Destination BC will maintain current RDMO funding and enter into multi-year agreements with RDMO partners. Destination BC has also committed to increasing its investments in marketing, including the new incremental investment in the Co-op Marketing Partnerships Program announced on June 30th, which will see a $2.0 million increase in the co-op marketing budget by 2017/18. How Press Trips Build a Business Are press trips included in your marketing plan? Press trips are a great way to get the word out about your business. Here's an example of how Charles McDiarmid from Wickaninnish Inn utilized press trips to launch the business into the number one spot on the Travel + Leisure World's Best Awards 2015 list of Top Resorts in Canada. Northern BC Photoshoots Happening Now! Northern BC Tourism and Destination British Columbia are working to acquire new on brand imagery from around the region. Phase one of the project will be happening throughout the summer. Phase one will include capturing road trip experiences in northwest British Columbia and on the Alaska Highway as well as a remote salmon fishing experience. In working with the new Super, Natural brand direction there will be on-going efforts over the next several years to build the provincial photography and video library with representative imagery from around northern British Columbia and the rest of the province. Destination BC is organizing a province-wide Instameet on BC Day (Monday, August 3rd) to encourage locals, visitors and industry partners all over BC to join together for a day of sharing on social media. The following Northern BC communities will be holding organized events (anyone can share from anywhere - please remember to use the hashtag #ExploreBC): Dawson Creek: 4-6PM at NAR Park Prince George: Details HERE Advertising Opportunity: 2016 Northern BC Travel Guide Pre-production of the 2016 Northern British Columbia Travel Guide has begun! The annual guide is stocked in all British Columbia Visitor Centres, as well as hotels, tourism businesses and airports. The guide is distributed at key travel and outdoors shows in Canada and abroad. The print edition is a run of 80,000 copies, and the e-book format is hosted on HelloBC.com. The Northern BC Travel Guide is tourism businesses' direct link to guests and residents of Northern BC! Get more information and book your ad space now. BC Tourism Industry Conference & Awards The Tourism Industry Association of BC (TIABC) will be holding their annual conference October 19-21 in Vancouver. The conference will offer a variety of keynote speakers, workshops and the Tourism Awards Gala which is on October 20th. Early bird registration for the conference is now open online.
