ABS expands cyber-system guidance CyberSafety The classification society ABS has unveiled its comprehensive cybersecurity certification and optional notations for marine and offshore assets and facilities at SMM 2016. According to the US-based company, the ABS CyberSafety series is the industry’s first risk-based management programme for asset owners to apply best-practice approaches to cybersecurity, automated systems safety, data integrity and software verification.

“Our unique approach to CyberSafety charts a new path, delivering wider and deeper classification services as technology evolves and becomes more sophisticated, reaching far beyond simple compliance and directly to asset and facility security,” said ABS Chief Technology Officer Howard Fireman. “The ABS CyberSafety programme provides the only actionable guidance for addressing and assessing cyber-enabled systems that emphasise human, systems and environmental safety.” New volume releases and revisions in the ABS CyberSafety series include: > Volume 1 – Guidance Notes on the Application of Cybersecurity Principles to Marine

and Offshore Operations (revised and expanded) > Volume 2 – Guide for Cybersecurity Implementation for the Marine and Offshore Industries > Volume 3 – Guidance Notes on Data Integrity for Marine and Offshore Operations > Volume 4 – Guide for Software Systems Verification > Volume 5 – Guidance Notes on Software Provider Conformity Program Delivering an integrated control system From the ABS guides, optional certification and classification notations may be obtained to verify cybersecurity plans and programmes for assets and facilities as well as integrated and non-integrated control systems, including factors for software quality management, product design assessment and unit software systems. “We look beyond the step-by-step approach and deliver an integrated, holistic view of systems, assets and facilities to provide confidence for owners and operators that a multi-dimensional safety component is well-engineered and operated competently,” Fireman said. ZF Marine unveils new transmission with condition monitoring Marine propulsion technology specialist ZF Marine has unveiled its ZF 83700 transmission equipped with COMOS condition monitoring at SMM 2016.

The new transmission is rated to 11,500 Kw and supplants the ZF 63000 as the largest, most powerful transmission in the family. Designed for high-speed vessel applications such as vehicle and passenger ferries and government applications, the ZF 83700 now offers the market the ability to build larger vessels without reducing performance, according to the German manufacturer. The ZF 83700 is a non-reversing twin-shaft configuration offering both live and clutchable PTOs as well as a clutchable PTI for flexibility in drive-train applications. Ratios from 2,412 to 5,591 mean this new transmission family can meet the performance envelope to match most applications. The ZF 83700 comes in a standard with immediate, smooth clutch engagement. Designed by ZF for large stationary wind turbine gearboxes, COMOS condition monitoring is a perfect example of technol-

ogy-sharing within the organisation. COMOS has been adapted by ZF Marine’s engineering team to meet the needs and requirements of the commercial marine duty cycle. Standard monitoring of transmission systems includes normal functions such as oil level and pressure, but also input shaft speed, clutch monitoring, in/out cooler temperature and thrust-bearing temperature. Additional advanced monitoring includes dynamic-load monitoring, vibration monitoring for gears and bearings, and oil condition monitoring of particulate matter and water content. Taking system monitoring to the next level will allow vessel operators and maintenance coordinators to better understand the “health” of one of the major components of the vessel, ZF Marine says. This will help minimise the potential for unplanned vessel downtime. Condition monitoring will also help reduce operating costs by eliminating unnecessary service combined with the ability to more accurately plan maintenance activities around the vessel’s schedule.

Calculating a Ship’s ETA 4.0

Glossary of Marine Engineering Terms (Glossar Schiffstechnik)

The DVV Media Group GmbH, in cooperation with the Bremen-based software developer Trenz AG, is presenting the prototype of an online tool that independently calculates a ship’s estimated time of arrival (ETA) in real time.

The Glossar Schiffstechnik (Glossary of Marine Engineering Terms) contains explanations of more than 2,500 technical terms used in marine engineering and related fields, more than 500 illustrations, explanations of more than 650 abbreviations, German-English and English-German translations of the technical terms as well as an extensive index. For novice marine engineers as well as those with a different professional or educational background, it opens up the fascinating but complex world of marine engineering; it also helps experienced specialists to find explanations and references that are of great importance in their work. Thanks to the included e-book, users of a terminal with a PDF viewer (PC, tablet, smartphone) also have electronic access – with a search function – to all of the terms/references. Link to order: www.schiffundhafen.de/glossar The subscription price, good until October 29th 2016, is EUR 118.90 plus VAT; thereafter the normal price of EUR 149.00 plus VAT is effective.

When will a ship arrive at a port? At the moment there’s no simple answer to this seemingly simple question. If the port players go by the ETA in the schedule or the ETA in the AIS (automatic identification system) signal, then they’ll find that the ship arrives at a different time altogether. Reliable information on a ship’s ETA results in better capacity

and resource planning, saving time and money. A detailed presentation of the prototype and following feedback session will take place today, September 7th, at 1:15pm and 3:15pm in Conference Room B5.4 in Hall B5. You can try out the system any time you like at the DVV Media Group’s Stand 529 in Hall A1.

BALLAST WATER MANAGEMENT

Damen and Evoqua launch containerised deckhouse with BWMS

“Damen enjoyed working with our partner Evoqua to develop the Balcon,” said Matthijs Schuiten, product manager of Netherlands-based Damen Green Solutions. “Together we had a continuous focus on safety during the development of the Balcon. Evoqua, which has over 40 years’ experience in manufacturing Chloropac marine growth prevention systems, refined this tried-and-tested technology and integrated it into its SeaCURE BWMS. Damen focused on standardisation throughout the

Damen Green Solutions and Evoqua Water Technologies have selected SMM for the launch of the Damen Balcon EC 1500 powered by the SeaCURE ballast water man agement system (BWMS). The Balcon containerised deckhouse was developed as a direct result of customer demand for fast “plug-andplay” installation in the yard, the companies note. The Balcon EC 1500

development process as part of our remit to deliver safe and proven solutions to our shipyard customers on demand. The container will be classified as a deckhouse by the major classification societies.” Lars Nupnau, director of global business development for ballast systems at US-headquartered Evoqua Water Technologies, remarked: “We were delighted to work with Damen to produce

the Balcon, and take this next step in our relationship.” The companies say Balcon is an ideal plug-and-play solution, with the absolute minimum of downtime for the vessel. Balcon is also well suited for tanker vessels (with submergible ballast pumps), where there is typically no space available for placement of the BMWS. It can also be used as a temporary system on vessels that are nearing the end

of their life cycle and only need to bridge a short period before they are taken out of service. With the footprint of a 20ft container and a 1,500m³/h treatment capacity, this newly arranged Balcon is a compact solution for shipowners and operators with limited space below deck. The arrangement is optimised for maintenance and can be assembled and tested off-site to shorten build time on board. Damen Green Solutions and Evoqua’s SeaCURE BWMS is backed by what the companies say is strong after-sales support service. They collaboratively provide services to ensure ongoing compliance for the lifetime of a vessel, from commissioning and installation at locations across the globe, to maintenance through partners in a multitude of territories. shipznet above-deck unit: easy to install

Saving communications costs Hamburg-based bobz GmbH, a leader in maritime data transmission via mobile telecom networks, is expanding its shipznet product portfolio for this year’s SMM trade fair. The company is offering customers attractive opportunities to save communications costs and use new applications on the Internet.

bobz has been specialising in consultancy services and turnkey data transmission products for over six years. “We’ve focused on maritime services and solutions because being located in Hamburg and having experience with technical challenges aboard ships are two important advantages for us,” said Claudia Bobzin, managing director of bobz GmbH. Mobile telecom networks available worldwide The idea to use mobile networks for maritime data transmission came six years ago. In contrast to other wireless standards such as Wi-Fi and WiMAX, for which the required infrastructure in the form of base stations or access points must be set

up on-site, mobile networks are already available in all ports and in many coastal areas. Amid constantly growing demand for bandwidth, transmission rates of up to 100 MBit/sec are now even possible in rural areas. Mobile networks are therefore an excellent complement for data transmission on ships since satellite-based connections are expensive and slow. Developed for maritime use shipznet hardware was specially developed by bobz GmbH for maritime use and consists of an antenna unit containing the mobile telecom electronics, similar to a USB flash drive that’s plugged into a laptop computer. The antenna connections are extremely short, while the supply cable from the bridge to the antenna deck can be up to 50m long. No hidden costs Together with this special hardware, shipz net offers various monthly data packages starting at 1 GB that cover the globe or specific regions, such as Europe. Particular attention has been paid to the requirements

of shipping companies, which have had negative experiences with general offers by mobile service providers due to excessive roaming charges. High investment costs aren’t necessary for the use of shipznet, nor are there surprises on account of hidden roaming charges. Typical applications “Our customers like to use shipznet in place of very costly satellite links for nearshore communications, thereby lowering costs considerably,” Bobzin said. Thanks to low latency and low costs for high data volumes, near-shore communications via mobile networks are particularly suitable for software updates, remote management and crew welfare. Clever combinations to cut costs shipznet has been rolled out on several hundred ships in recent years, proving its interoperability with the solutions of highly diverse manufacturers. They include simple e-mail/PC applications in combination with conventional FleetBroadband systems, but also communication servers such

as Dualog, iFusion (Inmarsat), XChange (Marlink) and Nimbus (Globecomm). As for server solutions, the automatic use of the respective transmission paths works so well that some customers are already dispensing with the expensive FleetBroadband solution and switching to shipznet in combination with Iridium. Cutting-edge technology with greater speed and bigger data packages Using LTE technology, the new shipznet router has a tenfold greater transmission

rate: nearly 300 Mbit/sec. It offers four Ethernet ports, five SIM card sockets, the proven crew hotspot feature and will soon be commercially available. Starting this autumn, bobz will also be offering significantly higher data packages of up to 200 GB/month. Expanded product portfolio with even more possibilities In response to strong demand from customers, the company has launched three further innovative solutions. As a standalone version, the new shipznet router

and proven antenna technology are now being offered as a package, enabling customers to use their own SIM card. The new router will also be available without the popular, handy shipznet antenna as a single device for smaller installations. And the new hardware can be purchased as an all-inclusive solution with managed service and various data packages starting at 1 GB/month, for which no customer investments are necessary. shipznet at SMM: Hall B6, Stand 200

PISTON RINGS

Minimising environmental impact Federal-Mogul Powertrain is showcasing its range of large piston rings for marine engines at SMM. The company says it has an unparalleled range of piston rings for both two-stroke and four-stroke large bore engines (LBEs).

It is represented in the LBE market by the Goetze and Daros brands; the Goetze products fit bores from 145 to 640mm and the Daros brand spans bores between 260 and 980mm. Ring design for LBEs is increasingly driven by the need to minimise environmental impact through reduced oil consumption and pressure to cut operating costs. Federal-Mogul Powertrain satisfies these demands with ring geometries that optimise contact conditions with the cylinder bore

Tests have shown that Federal-Mogul Powertrain’s eWAVE piston ring distributes oil over an area ten times the size of that achieved by conventional ring profiles, reducing wear and achieving oil consumption savings of about Image: Federal-Mogul 20%

and through the use of wear-resistant materials and coatings that promote longer life. The company’s galvanic coatings, such as GDC (chrome diamond coating) and CKS (chrome ceramic coating) may reduce the wear rate of both ring and liner. Its range of galvanic, thermal spray coatings and electric arc processes give the ability to select the optimum coating for each individual application. Some of the technologies developed are suitable for a wide range of applications; others are directed at specific sectors, such as eWAVE for two-stroke marine vessels and the LKZ oil-control ring for four-stroke engines. BRIDGE TECHNOLOGY

Navigation systems advance to next level Smart sensor technology and the next level in integrated navigation systems – this is what the German navigation system company Raytheon Anschütz is showcasing at SMM 2016 in Hall B6, Stand 304.

“With Synapsis NX, the integrated navigation system (INS) is advancing to the next level. Smart network architecture and innovative system modules not only dramatically reduce complexity, but also improve bridge system integration. In this way, shipowners receive their admission ticket to Navigation 4.0,” said Raytheon Anschütz’s marketing manager, Martin Richter, in describing the next generation of INS by Raytheon Anschütz. Intelligent network architecture enables access to virtually any PC and application from any workstation, without a limitation on the navigation system. Synapsis NX also features new touch panels with versatile software, providing functions such as central alert management for the entire bridge, and it is designed to integrate user interfaces for further control systems. Finally, the integrated Synapsis service tool provides an overview of the entire system condition and configuration and allows fast failure analysis and optimised maintenance planning – at the console or remotely via a secure ship/shore connection.

What’s more, as a world premiere Raytheon Anschütz is unveiling the new Standard 30 MF – a maintenance-free gyro that continues the renowned “Standard” series of Anschütz gyro compasses. Standard 30 MF provides heading, rate-ofturn, roll and pitch information. Standard 30 MF is based on innovative hemispherical resonator gyro (HRG) technology. This makes the gyro extremely reliable – with no wear and tear, no need for maintenance, and lifetime performance and effectiveness that significantly outlast a fibre-optical gyro, the company says. Among its features: Standard 30 MF settles in rough seas and provides

EHS No. 200,000 delivered The German company Pleiger is showing SMM fairgoers a selection of its electro-hydraulic actuators, which control globe, butterfly and ball valves with diameters between DN25 and DN1000.

They’re used for handling liquid and gas cargoes as well as ballast water, blackwater and greywater, and for the control of fuel oil tanks. The major benefit of the Electro-Hydraulic System (EHS) is that – thanks to its decentralised design with superposed hydraulic power pack – the shipyard is spared the time-consuming installation of long hydraulic pipes. Significant leakages and contaminations are therefore – by virtue of the construction – impossible. Pleiger not only delivers the actuators, but also the control electronics and, if requested, the corresponding valves. At SMM the control modules of the latest generation (CM4) will be presented. They allow adjustment of individual actuator functions

reau ICC-Commercial Crime Services, will present an overview of the statistical development of attacks by armed groups, and suggest possible solutions. Fending off cybercrime: navies need special protection Naval vessels are masterpieces of high-tech engineering and digitalisation. But advanced technology also makes them more vulnerable to cyber attacks. Dietmar Hilke, director of cyber security at Thales Germany, will explore in his lecture how naval units in particular can defend themselves against the threat of cybercrime. Frigates, corvettes, patrol boats and other ship types must

have complex operational capabilities to perform their specialised tasks. This has a major impact on their design, construction and use. Two speeches at the conference will give a detailed account of these particularities. The former commander of the NATO-accredited Mine Warfare Centre of Excellence, Nico Vasseur, will deliver a report about the progressing complexity of sea mines and the resulting necessity to continuously adapt mine-sweeping tactics and technologies. The marine pollution prevention rules as laid down in the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) are not compulsory for

naval vessels. Nevertheless, an increasing number of navies are taking steps to implement these rules, as far as their respective missions permit. The conference will address several of these aspects. In parallel with the conference, numerous shipyards, suppliers, and service providers from the maritime security segment – including key players such as Lürssen, Abeking & Rasmussen, ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems and German Naval Yards – will be showcasing innovative solutions. To account for the particular importance of this topic, an additional exhibition hall (B8) has been set up and will be entirely dedicated to risk mitigation.

DAVIT SYSTEMS | POWER SYSTEMS

New type of hoisting winch A major manufacturer of lifeboat davit systems, d-i davit international-hische GmbH is presenting a new type of hoisting winch able to handle boats up to 50 tonnes (safe working load) at SMM 2016.

The increased lifting capacity is necessary due to the ever-increasing size of lifeboats on the world’s largest cruise vessels, currently being built at the STX France shipyard at St Nazaire, the German company says. Today the largest and heaviest lifeboats can accommodate 370 passengers and will exceed 440 in the near future. The new winch is capable of electrically handling a fully equipped boat, including passengers and crew, and is equipped with an automatic retraction system to lift the empty boat blocks about 2m to 3m upwards. This prevents the suspension blocks from hitting the boat when it

reaches the water surface as the suspension hooks are being released. Although such systems already exist, this special device is an entirely new technical development by d-i davit international-hische GmbH, the company says. The world’s largest cruise vessel at present, Harmony of the Seas, has a total of 18 winches of this type. Its sister vessel will also be equipped with winches by d-i davit international-hische. The lifeboats are being installed in a freely hanging outboard position. The new winch has been designed according to the SOLAS/LSA-code with a capacity of 64 kilonewton metres, and it can be delivered for left- or right-hand execution. Its total weight is about 2,800kg.

Most powerful marine engine Among the engine manufacturer’s products that are on display at SMM is Cummins’s newest, largest and most powerful marine engine to date, the QSK95. It offers the benefits of smaller size, lower weight and better transient response while delivering a new level of serviceability, the US-based company says.

With ratings from 2,386 to 3,132 kW, the QSK95 achieves a power output previously only available from larger medium-speed marine engines, while bringing the advantage of a lower capital cost. Nested cylinders and a 60° V enable a short, narrow engine block relative to other engines of comparable displace-

ment. At just over 13,000kg, the QSK95 weighs between 25% and 70% less than medium-speed platforms of similar power output. As operators continue to seek better vessel manoeuvrability, the QSK95 delivers faster transient response through a unique turbo arrangement and a dry system. By using one turbo

per four cylinders, the QSK95 is able to utilise a small turbo model. The dry turbo housings and dry exhaust manifold maximise the available energy to the turbos, allowing them to spool up quickly, resulting in fast engine response. Cummins at SMM: Hall A4 / Stand 208

New test fields for gears with up to 12,000 kW Propulsion specialist Renk has built new facilities to test gears and large electro- mechanic systems.

The four new test fields at its headquarters in Augsburg, Germany, enable a full-load test of marine gears with up to 12,000  kW and fully automated data capturing of all relevant parameters, such as power, speed, temperature, pressure, noise excitation and vibrations. Extensive tests of components mitigate the risk of onboard failure; the integration of related components in

Preparations for an AED test run under full-load conditions

a marine power train, such as electric motors and drives or couplings, makes the test even more efficient.

The test facilities are also accessible for other customers for testing products built by third parties. Applications such as

direct electric drives (DEDs) for vessels, variable frequency converters and wind turbine components are well suited for the facilities. In April 2016 the advanced electric drive AED, Renk’s compact, lightweight and low-noise alternative to DEDs, was successfully tested with 4,000 kW. At SMM, Renk is showing live impressions of the test facilities, the AED and its wide range of products for the maritime power train. Renk AG at SMM: Hall A3 / Stand 207

THINGS TO DO AFTER THE FAIR

Two musical theatres are situated on the bank of the Elbe River

Photo: Stage Entertainment

Hamburg, the musical city Offering top-class entertainment, moving stories and catchy tunes, Hamburg’s musicals attract 2 million visitors every year. Hamburg is the world’s third-biggest musical city after New York and London, and an end to this musical boom isn´t in sight.

Reminiscent of a silver UFO, Hamburg’s newest musical theatre, the Stage Theater an der Elbe, is situated on the banks of the Elbe River just beside the yellow tent -like home of Disney’s “The Lion King”. On the outside of the theatre, “Das Wunder von Bern” (“The Miracle of Bern”) is displayed in bold lettering. This football musical had its world debut in Hamburg in November 2014. Based on the film by

Sönke Wortmann, the musical tells the moving tale of a father and son against the backdrop of the 1954 World Cup. From revue shows to musicals On the famous Reeperbahn entertainment strip (see also yesterday’s SMM Daily News), Hamburg’s residents have always had a soft spot for popular music. The late 19th century saw the rise of numerous private theatres and opera houses in Hamburg’s St Pauli district, where jaunty light operas, musical comedies and revue shows such as Freddy Quinn’s “Der Junge von St Pauli” (“The Boy from St Pauli”) would be performed. Today, the popular Schmidts Tivoli theatre, which is now situated on Spielbudenplatz right next to the St Pauli Theater, continues this tradi-

tion with its St Pauli musical “Heisse Ecke” (“Hot Corner”). On the far side of Spielbudenplatz you will find the Operettenhaus – the venue that started Hamburg’s musical boom in 1986, when the hugely successful musical “Cats” premiered. This boom also helped revive the legendary Reeperbahn entertainment strip. When, in 2001, “Cats” gave its final performance, the Operettenhaus had recorded a total of 6.2 million guests, and Hamburg had become Germany’s musical capital. The second of Hamburg’s musical theatres was the Neue Flora, built in 1990 and featuring the “The Phantom of the Opera”, which soon turned Hamburg into a popular destination for musical lovers from all over Germany. >

THINGS TO DO AFTER THE FAIR

“The Lion King” has lured 13 million visitors to Hamburg

“Das Wunder von Bern” is a football musical

Photo: Stage Company

Melodies for the millions For the Dutch company Stage Entertainment, this was the ideal time to establish its head office in Hamburg. Germany’s biggest musical production company is housed in a red-brick building in the Speicherstadt, Hamburg’s historic warehouse district. In 2001, Stage Entertainment’s founder, Joop van den Ende, laureate of the Gustaf Gründgens Award 2012, acquired the Theater im Hafen on the far side of the St Pauli Landungsbrücken. He then brought “The Lion King” to Hamburg – arguably the most successful of all musicals to date. The hits by Elton John mixed with a fantasy African setting have lured 13 million visitors to the Elbe, and almost every performance is sold out to this day.

Photo: Stage Entertainment

It wasn’t long before Stage Entertainment also acquired the Operettenhaus and the Neue Flora theatre. Since then, Stage Entertainment has brought numerous German premieres to Hamburg, among them box office hits such as “Sister Act”, “Dirty Dancing”, “Tarzan”, “Dance of the Vampires” and “Mamma Mia”. A lot of new musicals In 2015, the Neue Flora theatre was once again presenting “The Phantom of the Opera”, the hit musical that has received more than 50 awards to date. The famous compositions by Andrew Lloyd Webber, the stunning scenery and opulent costumes continue to amaze audiences. In autumn 2015, “Love Never Dies – The

Return of the Phantom”, also with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, began its run at the Operettenhaus as the new musical replacing “Rocky” there. Disney’s “Aladdin” celebrated its European premier in December 2015. Featuring Arabian nights, a genie and three wishes, this Broadway hit musical received a Tony Award in 2015. The already-mentioned musicals “The Lion King” and “Das Wunder von Bern” complete the musical landscape with both of the theatres in the harbour right on the bank of the Elbe. Both “Heiße Ecke” and “Die Königs vom Kiez” (“The Kings from the Red-Light District”) are playing, and set, in St. Pauli, their stories revolving around the colourful Reeperbahn.

MSC Shipmanagement chooses RINA software for fleet performance management Cyprus-based MSC Shipmanagement has chosen InfoSHIP Energy Governance (EGO) software from the Italy-headquartered classification society RINA for fleet performance management.

MSC has invested in a range of retrofitting solutions to reduce the energy consumption and air emissions for its fleet of more than 160 container ships. After trialling InfoSHIP EGO on one vessel, it is now rolling out the software on 81 vessels, and subsequently the entire fleet. Paolo Moretti, general manager of RINA Marine, said, “InfoSHIP EGO is a powerful tool for collecting and analysing ship performance. InfoSHIP EGO unlocks all the potential of big data to allow the management of refitting actions based on real payback evaluation and to ensure compliance with emission-recording requirements.” Prabhat Jha, group managing director of MSC Shipmanagement Limited, commented: “MSC is fully committed to improving our environmental performance, so we are always looking for appropriate solutions to enable us to achieve this. InfoSHIP EGO has shown itself to be a reliable

and powerful tool collecting and managing fleet performance data. With this tool we believe we will be able to measure the real savings and payback time for our CO2 emission reduction investments, and to comply with MRV requirements.” InfoSHIP EGO is part of the ship management software suite developed by RINA and IB Software & Consulting. InfoSHIP EGO has a number of modules that collect data on board the ship automatically from navigation and machinery automation sys-

tems. The data can then be analysed for trim optimisation, propulsion efficiency, voyage and fuel management, overall energy management and decision management. As the software can be customised to the particular operator’s needs, it can easily be set up to provide all the data needed to meet the requirements of the EU Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) scheme. WISKA presenting innovations – and football star At this year’s SMM, Germany’s WISKA is presenting innovations in Ex products, camera surveillance, LED and reefer container sockets – and also Alen Halilovic, a professional footballer who now plays for the Bundesliga side Hamburg SV. Halilovic will be on hand today from 11am to sign autographs at WISKA’s Stand 202 in Hall B6.

While Halilovic is preparing to light up the Bundesliga, WISKA is presenting a new energy-efficient luminaire for hazardous areas. The Ex LED Luminaire 4200 is based on the LED multi-purpose luminaire 4000 by WISKA, which has proven its quality in thousands of operating hours worldwide. It’s maintenance-free, easy to mount and install as well as cost-efficient, making it the ideal

choice for applications in hazardous areas on vessels and for the offshore industry. A brand-new floodlight series by WISKA also uses LED lamps and is being introduced to the public for the first time. The modular and cost-efficient in-house development comes with no aluminium at all and is able to cope with the harshest environmental conditions. Each LED module consists of special heat-conducting plastic; its overall protective casing is made of stainless steel. The single modules work independently. The LED floodlight 5000 will be available with one to four modules and tilting and dimming options. Standard halogen floodlights can be replaced by the new LED 5000. WISKA is also presenting an innovation from its VARITAIN range of reefer contain-

er sockets: VARITAIN PushIn Advance. It revolutionises the ship´s power connection to the socket by relocating its cable connection with terminal block and cable protection into the cable gland area out of the casing. The WISKA-developed power port therefore allows a significantly smaller casing and protection for all internal components. Opening the casing´s lid is now a thing of the past, making shipyard installation much faster and easier. In its range of computer-controlled CCTV systems, WISKA is showcasing a new product for hazardous areas: Ex Dome Camera. Its integrated connector unit no longer needs external cabling.
