NITRIC OXIDE SET-UP SHEET Set-up before initiation of therapy: 1. Connect the black high-pressure hose to the 50-psi outlet on the oxygen blender. The nitric tank does not need to be on for this initial set-up 2. Plug in INOvent, turn power switch on in back of the INOvent, confirm buzzer is audible.

Pre-therapy test 1. Perform a low calibration test (NOTE: low cal is required on a daily basis while infant is receiving therapy. There is no need to interrupt therapy to complete this test.) a. On the front of the INOvent press the Calibration soft key. b. Turn the control wheel to highlight the Low range cal c. Press the control wheel to confirm. d. The calibration will take approximately five minutes to complete. When cal is done the message “Calibration of NO, NO2 & O2 low range succeeded” will appear in the calibration window. e. Turn the control wheel to highlight Exit to Normal Display. f. Press the control wheel to confirm.

2. Perform Leak Test. g. Turn the NO tank on, and then OFF. h. Wait 30 seconds and watch the manometer on the front of the INOvent to make sure the pressure holds.

i. If the pressure falls, troubleshoot to find the leak. (Check to ensure manual NO system is not turned on, check for leaks around the cylinder valve & hose connections)

3. Purge and Performance Test j. Set up the purge and performance test circuit (see picture on next page).

k. Connect oxygen tubing from purge and performance circuit to an oxygen flowmeter or an e-cylinder.

l. Turn the NO tank on and then OFF. m. Set the oxygen flowmeter from the wall to 15 LPM. n. Press the Set NO soft key, turn the control wheel to set the NO concentration to 80 ppm, press the control wheel to confirm. o. The pressure gauge should slowly fall to zero indicating the system has been purged p. Three alarms should sound, “High NO2”, “Low NO/NO2 Pressure” and “Delivery Failure”. This may take a few minutes. q. After the purge, the only value on the INOvent screen should be for oxygen. The NO and NO2 should be zero or a small value. r. Turn the NO cylinder back on. s. Press the Set NO soft key and turn the control wheel to set the NO concentration to 40 ppm. Wait until the readings stabilize. t. Ensure NO2 is purged from the system and the readings fall within the following ranges: (If not, recalibrate the out of range sensor).

4. Manual NO Delivery System Purge and Performance test. a. Connect the long pressure hose connected behind the flow meter on the INOvent to a 50 psi outlet of an oxygen blender. b. Connect the Neopuff or manual resuscitator tubing to the NO/O2 outlet nipple on the back of the INOvent. c. Attach sampling line and adapter to the Neopuff or resuscitation bag.

d. Turn the flowmeter on the INOvent to 15 LPM, check the NO flow indicator window to ensure the ball floats to the middle. (If the ball is not visible, the NO cylinder is not on). e. Allow the gas to flow for approximately thirty seconds. Watch the NO reading for the following ranges:
