WINTER EDITION 2015

Transport for NSW has released a proposal to extend the South West Rail Link from Bringelly through to Oran Park and onwards

PROPOSED SOUTH WEST RAIL LINK EXTENSION

to Narellan Town Centre. This proposal impacts on Harrington Grove and Harrington Park as it involves a public transport corridor that may be used for rail infrastructure in the future. Harrington Estates is very concerned about the impact that this proposal will have on parts of Harrington Grove and Harrington Park. It supports the State Government’s objective of planning for future public transport and infrastructure, but believes that this can and should be done in a way that does not adversely impact on Harrington Estates’ communities. Harrington Estates is urging the State Government to investigate alternative options.

WHAT RESIDENTS CAN DO Harrington Estates urges all residents of Harrington Grove and Harrington Park to study the State Government’s proposal and to make a submission to Transport for NSW. Harrington Estates is preparing a submission and will be recommending alternative proposals to the Government. Its view is that the best option for providing public transport would be for the rail line from Bringelly to terminate at Oran Park. The rail line should only be extended south of Oran Park if the line is ever to be extended to the Campbelltown line. Should the line ever be extended from Oran Park to Campbelltown, it should be a combination of tunnels and a surface line depending on the selected alignment. Harrington Estates believes that the section between Oran Park and Narellan should include a tunnel under Harrington Park and Harrington Grove, with a route that does not pass under any homes in Harrington Park or Harrington Grove, but under Harrington Forest and The Northern Road.

STEP 1 STEP 2

Make your views heard with your own submission to Transport for NSW. Submissions that come from residents affected by the proposal will give us the best chance to encourage the government to consider alternative options. The power of your submission is that it illustrates how it directly affects you and your family. Tell them in your own words how a train line through your estate will affect your life. There is no formal way to write your submission, simply express your views in a straightforward way.

Send your submission to Transport for NSW by email or post. Please note that submissions are due by the 7th August 2015.

LEGO® WORKSHOP More than 100 excited kids enjoyed the Lego® Workshop day held at the Country Club on Thursday 9th of July. BRICKS 4 KIDZ® instructors ran the fun-filled workshop which gave kids the opportunity to showcase their potential to be builders of the future.

FEELING THE ORIGIN BLUES

Forget the hassle of getting to the stadium, paying for parking, lining up for expensive drinks braving the cold before a long drive home, some clever residents made their way to the Magnolia Club for games I & II. Still hopeful of a back to back series win, residents eagerly made their way to the Country Club where they witnessed complete domination from the Maroons in Origin Game 3 – the biggest winning margin in Queensland history. As a consolation, the trip home took mere minutes and they had the best seats in the house right in front of the huge projector screens – that’s footy in style.

TOTALLY FRESH 80’S NIGHT The Country Club recently rewound 30 years to the middle of the rad 1980s. Guests partied ‘All Night Long’ against a backdrop of lycra and hairspray, truly getting ‘Physical’ and engaged. Memories of school days and childhoods seemed vibrant once more in the company of neighbours and mates, and ‘That’s What Friends Are For’. It was a rare chance to pull on the leg warmers and warm up the crimper to celebrate everyone’s ‘Endless Love’ for the 1980s.

The Amazing Race hit Harrington Grove on Sunday the 12th July. On a forecasted freezing Sunday morning, 14 teams hit the course in a bid to be crowned the inaugural Harrington Grove Amazing Race champions! Teams made their way around four precincts; Magnolia, Maculata, Dianella and Lomandra, before racing to the finishing line at the Country Club. Teams visited each check point along the way, completing activities and solving puzzles to get the clues to move further throughout the course. Teams took part in Grand Slam tennis challenges, fitness challenges including hanging from monkey bars and holding a plank position, as well as completing food challenges (do you like blue cheese?) and taking selfies with Sir Warwick Fairfax. The course ended with a game of ‘The Price is Right’ at the finish line before everyone enjoyed a sausage sizzle. Congratulations to the first placed ‘Navy Blue’ team and the second placed ‘Light Purple’ team.
